Normal le.e.s for the.five.vital signs are.publishe. by the.Ame.ican He.rt Association, and othe. spe.ialty organizations, howe.e., the.sixth vital sign (re.ilie.ce. which adopts the.me.sure.of immune.re.ilie.ce.is sugge.te. in this pape.. Re.ilie.ce.is the.ability of the.immune.syste. to re.pond to attacks and de.e.d e.fe.tive.y against infe.tions and inflammatory stre.sors, and psychological re.ilie.ce.is the.capacity to re.ist, adapt, re.ove., thrive. and grow from a challe.ge.or a stre.sor. Individuals with be.te. optimal immune.re.ilie.ce.had be.te. he.lth outcome. than those.with minimal immune.re.ilie.ce. The.purpose.of this pape. is to conce.tualize. conte.tualize. and ope.ationalize.all six vital signs. We.sugge.t me.suring re.ilie.ce.subje.tive.y and obje.tive.y. Me.hods: Participants we.e.aske. to pe.form the.following activitie.: 1) re.ding the.nine.He.P module. on Powe.Point as poste. on Blackboard (a we.-base. course.manage.e.t program), 2) filling in five.blank line. unde. e.ch he.ding (He.LTH, e.UCATION, Le.AL, and PROGRAM), by writing words or te.ms on the.line.afte. e.ch he.ding, 3) ranking the.words within e.ch he.ding (with #1 as the.highe.t and #5 as the.lowe.t), 4) e.gaging in a class discussion of the.rationale.for the.ranking, 5) re.ranking, and 6) voting on the.ranking.
