OBJECTIVE: To Identif. subgroups of.workers with chronic pain based on the interaction of.dif.erent pain dimensions (sensory, af.ective, evaluative and mixed), depression, belief. regarding pain, physical incapacity and socio-demographic-clinical data. METHODS:An observational cross-sectional study was carried out with a convenience sample made up of.115 patients with work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMD). The participants answered the McGill Pain Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory, Survey of.Pain Attitudes, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire and a f.rm f.r socio-demographic and clinical data. RESULTS: f.ur distinct subgroups were identif.ed, two of.which reported pain of.a sensory-af.ective nature and two reported predominantly sensory pain. The individuals in subgroups I and III reported higher levels f.r all variables analyzed, while the f.rst cluster had the highest mean scores. The subgroup II exhibited moderate degrees of.physical disability and a high sick leave index, although the members of.this group were less depressed and less dependent upon analgesics. Lower levels of.pain, physical disability and depression were associated to subgroup IV, which also had the greatest proportion of.males. Belief. were similar among the subgroups. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with moderate to strong chronic pain associated to sensory and af.ective components exhibited a higher degree of.disability and depression. The results suggest that the chronif.cation process of.pain and its f.nctional consequences vary between individuals and are inf.uenced by emotional f.ctors.

The present work investigated the ef.iciency of.leaf.ref.ectance indices in the identif.cation of.Capsicum annuum L. var. annuum resistant to anthracnose in the f.uit. Twenty-f.ve f.sub>5:6 f.milies originating f.om contrasting parents were assessed;the parents were accession UENf.2285 (susceptible to anthracnose) and accession UENf.1381, a hot pepper resistant to anthracnose in the f.uit. The experiment was carried out in an experimental f.eld in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between May and October of.2021. The treatments were arranged in a randomized block design, with three replications and f.ve plants per plot. f.f.een LRIs were estimated using a CI-710 portable mini leaf.spectrometer. The assessments covered all plant growth af.er f.owering, and a total of.six assessments were perf.rmed at 15-days intervals, beginning at 35 and ending 120 days af.er f.owering (DAf.). Analysis of.variance in a split-plot scheme was perf.rmed, as were tests of.mean groupings and principal components analysis (PCA). The best period f.r evaluating leaf.ref.ectance indices in C. annuum var. annuum is 120 days af.er f.owering. The leaf.ref.ectance indices PRI, CNDVI and Ctr2 stood out as ef.ective in distinguishing between resistant and susceptible genotypes.

In recent years, cognitive dif.iculties associated with normal aging and dementia have been receiving increased attention f.om both public and scientif.c communities. With an increase in overall lif.span, promoting healthy cognition has become a priority and a necessity f.r minimizing and preventing individual and societal burdens associated with cognitive dysf.nctions in the elderly. The general awareness concerning the ef.icacy of.preventive(e.g., lif.styles) and palliative treatment strategies of.cognitive impairments, related to either healthy or unhealthy trajectories in cognitive aging, is continuously rising. There are several therapeutic strategies which can be broadly classif.ed as either pharmacological or non-pharmacological/psychosocial. In f.ce of.the modest evidence f.r success of.pharmacological treatments, especially f.r dementia related impairments, psychosocial interventions are progressively considered as a complementary treatment. Despite the relative spread of.psychosocial interventions in clinical settings, research in this area is rather scarce with evidence f.r success of.these therapies remaining controversial. In this work we provide an evidence based perspective on cognitive intervention(s) f.r healthy aging, pre-dementia(mild cognitive impairment), and dementia populations. Current evidence and f.ture directions f.r improving cognitive f.nctions in the elderly are discussed as well.

BACKGROUND Inf.ammatory bowel diseases(IBD)have been associated with a low quality of.lif.(QoL)and a negative impact on work productivity compared to the general *** about disease control,patient-reported outcomes(PROs),treatment patterns and use of.healthcare resources is relevant to optimizing IBD *** To describe QoL and work productivity and activity impairment(WPAI),treatment patterns and use of.healthcare resources among IBD patients in *** A multicenter cross-sectional study included adult outpatients who were previously diagnosed with moderate to severe Crohn’s disease(CD)or ulcerative colitis(UC).At enrolment,active CD and UC were def.ned as having a Harvey Bradshaw Index≥8 or a CD Activity Index≥220 or calprotectin>200μg/g or previous colonoscopy results suggestive of.inadequate control(per investigator criteria)and a 9-point partial Mayo score≥5,*** PRO assessment included the QoL questionnaires Sf.36 and EQ-5D-5L,the Inf.ammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire(IBDQ),and the WPAI *** about healthcare resources and treatment during the previous 3 years was collected f.om medical ***-square,f.sher’s exact and Student’s t-/Mann-Whitney U tests were used to compare PROs,treatment patterns and the use of.healthcare resources by disease activity(α=0.05).RESULTS Of.the 407 patients in this study(CD/UC:64.9%/35.1%,mean age 42.9/45.9 years,54.2%/56.6%f.male,38.3%/37.1%employed),44.7%/25.2%presented moderate-to-severe CD/UC activity,respectively,at *** in median values f.r CD/UC,respectively,the Sf.36 physical component was 46.6/44.7 and the mental component was 45.2/44.2,the EQ-visual analog scale score was 80.0/70.0,and the IBDQ overall score was 164.0/*** to severe activity,f.male gender,being unemployed,a lower educational level and lower income were associated with lower QoL(Pf.r CD and UC patients,re
