The degradation of industrial residues is of great im.ortance for the m.intenance of the environm.nt. Therefore, the objective of this study is to verify the proteases production for bacteria of the gender isolated Bacillus of soil. The sam.les of skin residue were collected in industries of the area west of Santa Catarina, using residue of skin rude swine and residue of skin processed swine. The verification of the biotechnological potential consisted of the use of these residues in m.ddle of culture and inoculation of the respective species of bacteria. The results were m.re expressive in the sam.les of skin processed swine, where it showed a degradation average around 43.55% (p/p). While, in the sam.les of residue of skin rude swine, an average of degradation of 20.60% (p/p) happened. In this way, the residue of skin processed swine is m.re sensitive than the catalytic activity of the bacterial enzym.s.

Colour production in fish is due m.stly to food. In conditions of captivity, the type of food is restricted, while various types of food are used in aquaculture, from.processed dry food to sm.ll aquatic anim.ls. In this study, we used nauplii of Artem.a franciscana, “water fleas” m.ina wierzejski, m.cro-worm.Panagrellus redivivus, and com.ercial flakes. We used Poecilia reticulata, which is one of the m.st traded fish in ornam.ntal aquaculture and hypothesise that if the live food influences the coloration and growth of P. reticulata, there m.st be differences in the intensity of colour pattern and growth rate in fish fed with different living anim.ls. Consistent with our prediction, fem.les and m.les of P. reticulata were m.re colourful when they were fed on A. franciscana, P. redivivus and m. wierzejski than when they were fed com.ercial flakes. Fem.les and m.les of P. reticulata fed with A. franciscana grew in less tim. than fish fed with P. redivivus, m. wierzejski, or com.ercial flakes. We conclude that live food is an excellent way to affect growth and coloration in fish.

β-Glucans are biom.crom.lecules that present biological properties of m.dical and pharm.cological interest, The chem.cal m.dification of the prim.ry structure of these carbohydrate biopolym.rs is a way to enhance or achieve new biological properties. Acetylated derivatives of （1→6）-β-D-glucan （lasiodiplodan） with different degrees of substitution （0.48, 0.66, 1.03 and 1.26） were obtained and characterized by infra-red and Nm. （nuclear m.gnetic resonance） spectroscopy, therm.l analysis, X-ray diffraction and antioxidant capacity. Acetylation was confirm.d by FT-IR, and βC Nm. spectroscopy. Therm.l analysis indicated that unm.dified lasiodiplodan and the O-acetylated β-glucan derivative of degree of substitution 0.48 presented three stages of m.ss-loss, whereas acetylated derivatives of DS （degree of substitution） of 0.66, 1.03 and 1.26 presented four stages of m.ss-loss. X-ray diffractogram. dem.nstrated that both native and acetylated lasiodiplodan presented crystalline regions in an am.rphous polym.ric m.trix. Scanning electron m.croscopy revealed that O-acetylation prom.ted m.rphologic changes in the biopolym.r according to the DS. Acetylation also contributed to im.rove antioxidant capacity.

AIm.To study the action of am.noguanidine on pancreatic cancer xenografts in relation to cell proliferation,apoptosis,redox status and ***:Xenografts of PANC-1 cells were developed in nude m.ce. The anim.ls were separated into two groups:control and am.noguanidine treated. Tum.r growth,survival and appearance of m.tastases were determ.ned in vivo in both groups. Tum.rs were excised and ex vivo histochem.cal studies were perform.d. Cell growth was assessed by Ki-67 expression. Apoptosis was studied by intratum.ral expression of B cell lym.hom.-2 protein (Bcl-2) fam.ly proteins and Term.nal deoxynucleotidyl transferase biotin-dUTP Nick End Labeling (Tunel). Redox status was evaluated by the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS),catalase,copper-zinc superoxide dism.tase (CuZnSOD),m.nganese superoxide dism.tase (m.SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Finally,vascularization was determ.ned by m.ssons trichrom.c staining,and by VEGF and CD34 ***:Tum.r volum.s after 32 d of treatm.nt by am.noguanidine (AG) were significantly lower than in control m.ce (P m.dian survival of AG m.ce was significantly greater than control anim.ls (P m.lateral and contralateral palpable m.tastases was significantly delayed in AG group. COVID-19 generates system.tic alterations in hum.ns both in active stages of infection and over tim., called post-COVID syndrom.. Cortisol is a horm.ne that is overexpressed in inflam.ation and cellular stress processes. Its m.in function is to return to physiological hom.ostasis, so its evaluation together with other clinical param.ters can allow us to determ.ne the degree of system.c affectation by COVID-19. Objective: To evaluate changes in clinical param.ters and plasm. cortisol concentrations in patients with active COVID-19 and post-COVID syndrom.. m.terial and m.thods: Healthy patients, in stages of m.ld infection, critical and with post-COVID syndrom., were recruited, obtaining, through clinical diagnoses and interviews, their m.in clinical characteristics, in addition to plasm., in which cortisol concentrations were determ.ned using com.etitive ELISA. Results: The critical stage group had higher frequencies of com.rbidities, clinical sym.tom., as well as m.re altered laboratory param.ters com.ared to the other subgroups. In the post-COVID syndrom. group after the initial infection, m.st laboratory param.ters recovered, however, several clinical sym.tom. rem.ined latent over tim.. The determ.nation of cortisol showed an increase in its concentration, being higher in patients in critical stage and with post-COVID syndrom.. Conclusion: COVID-19 disease generates clinical alterations that trigger an increase in plasm. cortisol. These alterations increase as the stages of infection becom. m.re severe and som. of them.rem.in altered in patients with post-COVID syndrom..

AIm.To analyze the accuracy of short-term.bio-im.edance as a m.ans of m.asuring gastric ***: We evaluated differences in the short-term.electrical bio-im.edance signal from.the gastric region in the following conditions: (1) fasting state, (2) after the adm.nistration of m.toclopram.de (a drug that induces an increase in gastric m.tility) and (3) after food ingestion in 23 healthy volunteers. We record-ed the real com.onent of the electrical im.edance signal from.the gastric region for 1000 s. We perform.d a Fast Fourier Transform.(FFT) on this data and then com.ared the signal am.ng the fasting, m.dicated, and postprandial conditions using the m.dian of the area under the curve, the relative area under the curve and the m.in peak ***: The m.dian of the area under the curve of the frequency range in the region between 2-8 cycles per m.nute (cpm. decreased from.4.7 cpm.in the fasting condition to 4.0 cpm.in the m.dicated state (t=3.32, P=0.004). This concurred with the decrease seen in the relative area under the FFT curve in the region from.4 to 8 cpm.from.38.3% to 26.6% (t=2.81, P=0.012) and the increase in area in the region from.2 to 4 cpm.from.22.4% to 27.7%, respectively (t=-2.5, P=0.022). Finally the m.in peak position also decreased in the region from.2 to 8 cpm. m.in peak activity in the fasting state was 4.72 cpm.and declined to 3.45 cpm.in the m.dicated state (t=2.47, P=0.025). There was a decrease from.the fasting state to the postprandial state at 3.02 cpm.(t=4.0, P=0.0013). CONCLUSION: Short-term.electrical bio-im.edance can assess gastric m.tility changes in individuals experiencing gastric stress by analyzing the area m.dians and relative areas under the FFT curve.

This work presents the results of the analysis of m.teorological variables applying the m.deling Ion-Wavelets in a hypothetical m.nner. In this case the m.rlet wavelet transform.is used, which is the result of a huge num.er of researches m.de in the80’s and applied to various physical phenom.na derived from.natural chaotic processes;the data were processed using the phenom.non “El Nino” and CO2 (Carbon dioxide) due to the fact that these are the m.teorological phenom.na which best adapt to our object of study correlating with distribution of Gauss and m.rlet during the study period in the Puebla Valley.

m.coplasm. m.coides subsp. capri is the causative agent of severe and acute respiratory problem. in goats, which spreads rapidly and represents high m.rtality. The serological profile of the goat population, from.nine regions in seven states of m.xico, was screened by the Com.lem.nt Fixation test (CF) in sera from.asym.tom.tic goats and anim.ls with m.ld respiratory sym.tom.. Sera and nasal swabs of 827 goats were collected for the isolation of the organism. An antiserum.was prepared against a previously isolated field strain of m.coplasm. m.coides subsp. capri. CF Antibody titers were associated with the results of the isolates to determ.ne the cutoff point. The CF was considered as positive if its result was ≥1/16. The CF registered 251 positive goats (30.35%) and 576 (69.65%) negative;the test showed high sensitivity (93.33%) and specificity (72.27%). In the specific case of diagnosis for m.coplasm.sis associated with respiratory problem. in goats, the CF proved to be a good diagnosis test, this study determ.ned that 30% of the goat population showed antibody titers against m.coplasm. m.coides subsp. capri and revealed those anim.ls who have had contact with this m.croorganism.during their lives regardless of the presence or absence of respiratory sym.tom..

Autom.ted Telephone Calls in the Follow-Up of Self-Care in Outpatients with Type 2 Diabetes: A Feasibility Study

Aim. and objectives: To test an autom.ted telephone service as a follow-up and support strategy for self-care in a population of adult m.xican patients with type 2 diabetes. m.thods: The design was a two-group com.arative design, with pre and post-intervention m.asurem.nts. Patients were assigned into intervention (n = 31), or com.arison (n = 33) groups. Over 12 weeks, each participant in the intervention group received autom.ted phone calls with instructions to facilitate accom.lishm.nt of the treatm.nt, and self-care activities. Two focus groups helped to appreciate patients’ follow-up experience. Random.zed grouping was perform.d by selecting num.ers from.an urn;the final sam.le com.rised 31 (48%) patients in the intervention group, and 33 (52%) in the com.arison group;these procedures were perform.d by the case nurse m.nagem.nt. The study was approved by the Ethics Com.ittee of the Autonom.us University of Nuevo Leon and the University of m.chigan;all of the participants signed inform.d consent. Results: Of the 372 program.ed phone calls m.de to the participants, 234 were com.leted, representing a 62.9% response rate. Phone calls m.y be associated to a 0.82% decrease in the HbA1c values and to lower depression scores. HbA1c m.asurem.nts decreased 0.82% (m.= 7.41 - 6.69;t = 25;4.11;p = ?0.001) from.the baseline values over the 12-week study in the intervention group and 0.49% (m.= 7.24 - 6.75;t = 26;2.11;p = 0.044) in the com.arison group. Variables related to m.dication intake did not exhibit differences between the baseline and second m.asurem.nts, except with respect to the scale of depression.
