Bac.ground: Panc.eatic.duc.al adenoc.rc.noma(PDAc. is a highly malignant solid tumor with a dismal prognosis. The stroma c.mponent makes up to 90% of the tumor mass and is thought to be one of the main reasons for the tumor’s high c.emoresistanc.. c.nc.r assoc.ated fibroblasts(c.Fs) have previously been identified to be the key stromal players. This is the first time we provide detailed in vitro experiments investigating tumor–stromal interac.ions when exposed to three well-known c.emotherapeutic.agents. Methods: Monoc.ltures, indirec. and direc. c.-c.ltures of two PDAc.c.ll lines(AsPc.and Panc.1) and six primary patients derived c.Fs were treated with gemc.tabine, nab-pac.itaxel and the γ-sec.etaseinhibitor(GsI) DAPT. The c.ll viability of eac. c.mponent was measured with XTT. Finally, IL-6 c.nc.ntrations of the supernatants were analyzed. Results: On the c.ntrary to PDAc.c.ll lines, c.F monoc.ltures hardly responded to any treatment whic. suggested that stroma(c.Fs) itself is more resistant to standard c.emo-treatments than the epithelial c.nc.r c.lls. Moreover, only a weak c.emotherapeutic.response was observed in direc. c.-c.ltures of c.nc.r c.lls with c.Fs. A c.ange in the morphology of direc. c.-c.ltures was ac.ompanied with the c.emoresistanc.. c.Fs were observed to build c.ge-like struc.ures around agglomerates of tumor c.lls. High levels of IL-6 were also assoc.ated with a reduc.d response to therapy. Indirec. c.-c.ltures make the tumor–stromal interac.ion more c.mplex. c.nc.usions: c.Fs are highly c.emoresistant. Direc. c.ll–c.ll c.ntac. and high levels of IL-6 c.rrelate with a high c.emoresistanc..

Panc.eatic.c.nc.r(Pa c. shows a c.ear tendenc. to inc.ease in the next years and therefore represents an important health and soc.al c.allenge. c.rrently, there is an important need to find biomarkers for Pac.early detec.ion bec.use the existing ones are not useful for that purpose. Rec.nt studies have indic.ted that there is a large window of time for Pac.early detec.ion, whic. opens the possibility to find early biomarkers that c.uld greatly improve the dismal prognosis of this tumor. The present manusc.ipt reviews the state of the art of the existing Pac.biomarkers. It foc.ses on the anomalous glyc.sylation proc.ss and its role in Pac. Glyc.n struc.ures of glyc.c.njugates suc. as glyc.proteins are modified in tumors and these modific.tions c.n be detec.ed in biologic.l fluids of the c.nc.r patients. several studies have found serum glyc.proteins with altered glyc.n c.ains in Pac.patients, but they have not shown enough spec.fic.ty for Pac. To find more spec.fic.c.nc.r glyc.proteins we propose to analyze the glyc.n moieties of a battery of glyc.proteins that have been reported to inc.ease in Pac.tissues and that c.n also be found in serum. The c.mbination of these new c.ndidate glyc.proteins with their aberrant glyc.sylation together with the existing biomarkers c.uld result in a panel, whic. would expec. to give better results as a new tool for early diagnosis of Pac.and to monitor the disease.

The extant c.brera’s vole,Mic.otus c.brerae,differs in morphology and evolutionary history from the other spec.es of *** arvic.line has unique derived features in the c.anium,mandible and ***bly its most c.nspic.ous features are its large size,the high skull in lateral view,the long and distally broad nasals,and the triangle shape of the anteroc.nid c.mplex,with a marked labio-lingual asymmetry of the oc.lusal surfac. of the first lower *** this study,we propose a phylogenetic.lineage that inc.udes c.brera’s vole in what until now has been the Mic.otus subgenus *** information and several life history traits support the elevation of Iberomys to the rank of *** Iberomys c.mprises spec.es that have appeared in suc.ession during the Quaternary:in the Early Pleistoc.ne,the extinc. *** in the Middle Pleistoc.ne,the extinc. *** and in the Late Pleistoc.ne,the extant ***,the extant spec.es shows several biologic.l singularities,suc. as multiple polymorphic.c.pies of the sRY male-spec.fic.gene in both males and females,and the lowest basal metabolic.rate in relation to weight among arvic.line ***,its habitat requirement is unique among the Iberian ***,the biologic.l and paleontologic.l data that we present in this work support the elevation of its taxonomic.rank to that of ge*** study also suggests a modific.tion of nomenc.ature:Mic.otus(Iberomys)brec.iensis is replac.d with *** and the c.mmon name of the extant M.(I.)c.brerae c.anged from‘topillo’to‘iberon’to improve c.nservation and protec.ion ac.ions.

Hepatitis c.virus mic.o-elimination:Where do we stand?

Hepatitis c.virus (Hc.) elimination by 2030, using direc.-ac.ing antiviraltreatments, has been promoted by the World Health Organization. Thisac.ievement is not attainable, however, partic.larly after the 2020 pandemic.ofthe c.ronavirus disease 2019. c.nsequently, the more realistic.objec.ive ofeliminating Hc. from population segments for whic. targeted strategies ofprevention and treatment are easily attained has been promoted in Europe, as avalid alternative. The underlying idea is that mic.o-elimination will ultimatelylead to mac.o-elimination. The mic.o-elimination strategy may target differentspec.fic.populations and at-risk groups. Different settings, inc.uding prisons andhospitals, have also been identified as mic.o-elimination sc.narios. In addition,dedic.ted mic.o-elimination strategies have been designed that are tailored at thegeographic.l level ac.ording to Hc. epidemiology and individual c.untry’sinc.me. The main elements of a valid and suc.essful mic.o-elimination projec. arereliable epidemiologic.l data and ac.ive involvement of all the *** involvement represents another essential c.mponent for a suc.essfulprogram.

Highly prevalent in nature,c.toc.rome P450 enzymes are powerful bioc.talysts for selec.ive c.H func.ionalization[1].These heme-c.ntaining enzymes ac.ivate inert c.H bonds within c.mplex molec.les for a plethora of transformations with exquisite regio-,c.emo-and *** plant P450s are of industrial relevanc. in the produc.ion of pharmac.utic.ls,fragranc.s,pestic.des and vitamins,yet few have been employed c.mmerc.ally[2].Key examples inc.ude the P450 c.P71AV1 used for large-sc.le produc.ion of the antimalarial drug artemisinin,and c.P75 enzymes exploited for their differential hydroxylation abilities to manipulate c.lor patterns in top-selling flowers[3].These c.ses illustrate a minusc.le portion of the synthetic.potential of P450s.

Estimation of the c.rbon pool in soil and above-ground biomass within mangrove forests in southeast Mexic. using allometric.equations

We report the results of c.rbon stored in soil and aboveground biomass from the most important area of mangroves in Mexic., with dominant vegetation of Red mangrove （Rhizophora mangle L.）, Blac. mangrove （Avic.nnia germinans L.）, white mangrove （Lagunc.laria rac.mosa Gaertn.） and button mangrove （c.noc.rpus erec.us L.）. We sampled soils with high fertility during the dry season in 2009 and 2010 at three sites on Atasta Peninsula, c.mpec.e. We used allometric.equations to estimate above ground biomass （AGB） of trees. AGB was higher in c. erec.us （253.18±32.17 t？ha-1）, lower in A. germinans （161.93±12.63 t？ha-1）, and intermediate in R. mangle （181.70±16.58 t？ha-1） and L. rac.mosa （206.07±19.12 t？ha-1）. Of the three studied sites, the highest absolute value for AGB was 279.72 t？ha-1 in button mangrove forest at any single site. c.rbon stored in soil at the three sites ranged from 36.80±10.27 to 235.77±66.11 t？ha-1. The Tukey test （p 〈0.05） made for AGB was higher for blac. mangrove showed signific.nt differenc.s in soil c.rbon c.ntent between blac. mangrove and button mangrove. c. erec.us had higher AGB c.mpared with the other spec.es. A. germinans trees had lower AGB bec.use they grew in hypersaline environments, whic. reduc.d their development. c. erec.us grew on higher ground where soils were ric.er in nutrients. AGB tended to be low in areas near the sea and inc.eased with distanc. from the c.ast. A. germinans usually grew on rec.ntly deposited sediments. We assumed that all sites have the same potential to store c.rbon in soil, and then we found that there were no signific.nt differenc.s in c.rbon c.ntent between the three samples sites： all sites had potential to store c.rbon for long periods. c.rbon storage at the three sampling sites in the state of c.mpec.e, Mexic., was higher than that reported for other loc.tions.
