The life of electronic equipment is becoming increasingly shorter and its replacement always generates a quantity of waste increase, giving rise to a problem of environmental character and still needed new options of solid waste management that will contribute to global sustainable development. Parts of these waste are TCI （the card＇s printed circuit） which containing dangerous elements and turns them into a polluting material from the soil, water and air, being harmful to human health if there is to proper and responsible way, so the recycling of TCI to obtain precious metals is an example of industrial materials that can be recycled. Despite this, large quantities of these are not recycled and some others are not considered. The objective of this work is to present a systematic and ecological methodology for the recovery of valuable materials contained in parts of used in computers, circuit boards using a leaching process. The method determines a set of variables to evaluate the kinetics of the reaction and the leaching of metals that form the substrate of metal and to establish the parameters that affect the rate of leaching of metals through a sensitivity analysis, to identify design alternatives. It determines the quantity and percentages that constitutes the motherboard, processor, video cards, accelerator graphics, network and memory cards RAM, among others and its content of metals such as Cu, Fe, Ag, Au and Pt.

Characterization by Thermogravimetric Analysis of Polymeric Concrete with High Density Polyethylene Mechanically Recycled

This paper presents the results of the characterization by thermogravimetric analysis of a new composite material called polymeric concrete. The polymeric concrete contains micro-particles obtained from High Density Poly-Ethylene (HDPE) mechanically recycled (post-consumer bottles);the official Mexican standard NMX-E-232-SCFI-1999 considers the HDPE as the recyclable plastic material. Thermo-grams based on weight lost were obtained from the raw material (HDPE) and the polymer concrete in order to obtain the glass transition temperature (Tg) and melting temperature (Tf). The analysis conditions were defined from 20°C to 180°C and the heat rate of 1°C/minute. The results show that the glass transition temperature of polymeric concrete is 46°C and the HDPE is 38°C. These results mean that the polymeric concrete is more resistant to decomposition. With respect to the melting temperature, the results show that the 2°C difference between polymeric concrete and HDPE is not significant. The polymeric concrete with HDPE recycled can be considered as composite material thermoplastic. The new material melts when it is heated to 146°C and has the ability to be softened, processed and reprocessed with temperature and pressure changes, which make it possible to obtain molded pieces in the desired shape.

The scientific software installation testing has a main goal： Evaluate if the software meets its requirements and specifications. In this paper, the scientific software installation in six machines is evaluated. The software installation was tested using a PDCA （Plan-Do-Check-Act） approach in 3 machines and were compared with other 3 machines which were installed exclusively based in the installer experience. The software installed on the machines using a PDCA approach for testing, lead to the expected results. Scientific software installation should be tested during the installation and not as a final test. A methodology based on PDCA is recommended for testing scientific software.

An opportunity for improvement with a medication reconciliation programme

Medication reconciliation is priority in safety. Between 54% and 67% of hospitalized patients have at least one unintended discrepancies (UDs) between pharmacological treatment of a hospital inpatient and treatment that they were previously taking at home. Quasi-experimental pre-post study performed. The objective is to assess the impact of an intervention aimed at decreasing UDs between medication prescribed on admission and patient’s regular treatment. Patients who were hospitalised for more than 24 hours and were undergoing treatment prior to admission which involved taking three or more medicines were included. The number of patients included was 331 and 3781 medicines were reconciled. The incidence of UDs decreased significantly from 7.24% to 4.18%. Omission was the most common UD, with a significant decrease from 5.8% to 3.4%. Respect to clinical impact, we observed that error type C (error reached patient without causing harm) predominates, how- ever, experienced a statistically significant decrease from 5.3% to 2.4%.

Usually, the maize cob is formed by grains of medium size. However, the extremes have larger or smaller size grains. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of grain size from the same hybrid on the physicochemical properties of isolated starch, crude maize flours and nixtamalized maize flours. Two hybrids, one from CIMMyT-Mexico called IMIC-254 and one commercial sample from Monsanto (Puma) were studied. The isolated starch granules from small, medium, and large grains exhibit the same size and distribution. The grain size has influence in the determination of cooking and steeping times;small grains reach these parameters faster than medium and large ones. The hardness of the grain size for both hybrids does not showed statistical differences between them. The starch from small, medium and large grains is mainly composed of amylopectin;this result is confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Megazine analysis. The apparent viscosity of the isolated starches of small grains showed statistically significant higher peak values. According to these results, it is possible to use small, medium, and large grains to obtain products with the same physicochemical properties, by adjusting the cooking and steeping times and Ca2+ content.

Background: Currently available evidence suggests a potentially protective role for interleukin(IL)-10 in atherosclerosis. Reactive oxygen species, such as superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide, peroxynitrite, and hydroxyl radical, seem to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of ischemia-reperfusion injury. The aim of this study was to assess whether a rise in lipid peroxidation(LPx), as malondialdehyde(MDA) and 4 hydroxyalkenal(4-HNE), during acute myocardial infarction(AMI) is associated with serum concentrations of IL-10. Methods: A total of 50 patients diagnosed with AMI and 50 control subjects were studied. Primary angioplasty was performed in the 50 patients with an indication for reperfusion. Serum IL-10 and LPx(MDA+4-HNE) concentrations were measured using commercially available enzyme-immunoassays. The venous blood samples were taken 90±35 min after having obtained a TIMI III flow in patients with AMI. In control subjects, blood samples were taken at the time of admission to hospital. Results: IL-10 concentrations were higher in patients with AMI compared with control subjects(32.45±2.17 vs. 22.10±2.40 pg/ml; P=0.03). Serum LPx concentrations were higher in the AMI group(22.20±3.63 vs. 11.90±1.26 μM; P=0.01). IL-10 levels in patients with AMI were significantly correlated with the concentrations of LPx(Pearson’s r=0.49, P=0.02). Conclusions: Our results provide evidence that(1) IL-10 is increased in a human model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion and(2) reperfusion injury and elevated IL-10 levels are related in patients with AMI treated with primary percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.

Background:In-hospital mortality in patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is *** prognostic indices are needed to identify patients at high-risk of COVID-19 health *** aimed to determine the usefulness of the CONtrolling NUTritional status(CONUT)index as a potential prognostic indicator of mortality in COVID-19 patients upon hospital ***:Our study design is of a retrospective observational study in a large cohort of COVID-19 *** addition to descriptive statistics,a Kaplan-Meier mortality analysis and a Cox regression were performed,as well as receiver operating curve(ROC).Results:From February 5,2020 to January 21,2021,there was a total of 2969 admissions for COVID-19 at our hospital,corresponding to 2844 ***,baseline(within 4 days of admission)CONUT index could be scored for 1627(57.2%)***’age was 67.3±16.5 years and 44.9%were *** CONUT severity distribution was:194(11.9%)normal(0-1);769(47.2%)light(2-4);585(35.9%)moderate(5-8);and 79(4.9%)severe(9-12).Mortality of 30 days after admission was 3.1%in patients with normal risk CONUT,9.0%light,22.7%moderate,and 40.5%in those with severe CONUT(P<0.05).An increased risk of death associated with a greater baseline CONUT stage was sustained in a multivariable Cox regression model(P<0.05).An increasing baseline CONUT stage was associated with a longer duration of admission,a greater requirement for the use of non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation,and other clinical outcomes(all P<0.05).The ROC of CONUT for mortality had an area under the curve(AUC)and 95%confidence interval of 0.711(0.676-0746).Conclusion:The CONUT index upon admission is potentially a reliable and independent prognostic indicator of mortality and length of hospitalization in COVID-19 patients.

The paper is to study the structural changes in cortex and cerebellum of autopsies of subjects with schizophrenia. In the Pathology Department of the Psychiatric Hospital ＂Fray Bernardino ,Avarez＂, there are 410 autopsy cases with diagnosis of mental disease, from which 52 match schizophrenia. The aim of this work is to describe structural changes in the autopsy material and make markers in order to confirm neurodevelopment alterations. The tissues were preserved in formol, paraffin-embedded; cut into 5-7 μm slices; stained with H-E （Hematoxilin and Eosin）, Bielschowsky, crystal fast of violet. The observed changes were brain asymmetry, cortical dysplasia, neuronal distortion, axon bifurcation, neuronophagia and generalized demyelination. Schizophrenia is the result of several happenings, it is important to devise new treatment strategies for prevention and genetic counseling for population.
