Understanding fundamental mechanisms governing axon outgrowth and guidance can inform the development of therapeutic strategies to restore neuronal function damaged though injury or disease. Axons navigate the extracellular environment by responding to guidance cues that bind to cell surface receptors to relay information intracellularly via Rho GTPase family members, including the Rac GTPases.

Background:In addition to healthcare entitlements,‘migrant-friendly health services’in Thailand include interpretation and cultural mediation services which aim to reduce language and cultural barriers between health personnel and *** the Thai Government started implementing these services in 2003,challenges in providing them still *** study aims to analyse the health system functions which support the interpretation and cultural mediation services of migrant health worker(MHW)and migrant health volunteer(MHV)programmes in ***:In-depth interviews were conducted in two migrant-populated provinces using purposive and snowball sampling.A total of fifty key informants were recruited,including MHWs,MHVs,health professionals,non-governmental organisation(NGO)staff and policy *** were triangulated using information from policy *** deductive thematic analysis was classified into three main themes of evolving structure of MHW and MHV programmes,roles and responsibilities of MHWs and MHVs,and supporting ***:The introduction of the MHW and MHV programmes was one of the most prominent steps taken to improve the migrant-friendliness of Thai health *** mainly served as interpreters in public facilities,while MHVs served as cultural mediators in migrant *** challenges in providing services included insufficient budgets for employment and training,diverse training curricula,and lack of legal provisions to sustain the MHW and MHV ***:Interpretation and cultural mediation services are hugely beneficial in addressing the health needs of *** ensure the sustainability of current service provision,clear policy regulation and standardised training courses should be in place,alongside adequate and sustainable financial support from central government,NGOs,employers and migrant workers ***,regular monitoring and evaluation of the quality of services

Introduction Nitrate-induced headache is common and may signify responsive cerebral *** assessed the relationship between nitrate headache and outcome in patients with acute *** and methods Patients were those randomised to glyceryl trinitrate(GTN)versus no GTN in the efficacy of nitric oxide in stroke *** of headache by end of treatment(day 7),and functional outcome(modified Rankin Scale,primary outcome)at day 90,were *** are adjusted for baseline prognostic factors and give OR and mean difference(MD)with 95%*** In 4011 patients,headache was more common in GTN than control(360,18.0% vs 170,8.5%;p<0.001).Nitrate-related headache was associated with:younger age,female sex,higher diastolic blood pressure,non-total anterior circulation syndrome,milder stroke and absence of dysphasia(p<0.05).Nitrate headache was not associated with improved functional outcome(OR 0.90,95% CI 0.73 to 1.10,p=0.30)or death(day 90)(HR 0.64,95% CI 0.40 to 1.02,p=0.062),but reduced death or deterioration(day 7)(OR 0.45,95% CI 0.25 to 0.82),death in hospital(OR 0.44,95% CI 0.22 to 0.88)and improved activities of daily living(Barthel index,MD 3.7,95% CI 0.3 to 7.1)and cognition(telephone interview cognitive screen,MD 2.0,95% CI 0.7 to 3.3)(day 90).Non-nitrate headache was not associated with death,disability or *** and conclusion Development of a nitrate headache by day 7 after stroke may be associated with improved activities of daily living and cognitive impairment at day 90,which was not seen with non-nitrate headache.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate infective endocarditis prophylaxis practices during the intrapartum period and to assess obstetric providers’ adherence to the American Heart Association and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology guidelines for infective endocarditis prophylaxis. METHODS: We performed a chart review of pharmacy, electronic nursing, and physician records to report this case series of obstetric patients who received infective endocarditis prophylaxis during the intrapartum period at a single tertiary referral care center during a 1-year study period from August 1, 2004, to July 31, 2005. RESULTS: Fifty patients received antibiotics for infective endocarditis prophylaxis. Three of the 50 patients who received infective endocarditis prophylaxis had high-risk cardiac lesions and three other patients had moderate-risk cardiac lesions and evidence for intrapartum infection. Thus, only six patients (12.0% , 95% confidence interval 4.5% - 24.3% )met the American Heart Association and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists criteria for an appropriate indication for infective endocarditis prophylaxis. Of these six patients who had an appropriate indication for infective endocarditis prophylaxis, only three (50.0% , 95% confidence interval 11.8% - 88.2% ) received appropriate antibiotic regimens. CONCLUSION: Antibiotics are frequently given to obstetric patients during pregnancy. Although many obstetric patients receive antibiotics for recommended indications, some patients, as our study shows, do not. A concerted effort by all practitioners and institutions to reduce the amount of inappropriate antibiotics given to obstetric patients will have positive public health effects in addition to benefiting individual mothers and neonates.
