Ba.kground: In a.rica. cities, chronic exposure to polluta.ts is the most common public hea.th problem fa.ed da.ly by motorcycle ta.i drivers. In Benin, studies conducted on motorcycle drivers, ha.e shown the presence of nitrogen oxides, ca.bon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, vola.ile orga.ic compounds a.d pa.ticula.e ma.ter in a.bient a.r, which ma. a.fect lung function. a.ms: This study a.ms to dia.nose potentia. respira.ory problems a.ong 48 motorcycle ta.i drivers (47.02 ± 8.75 yea.s) compa.ed to a.control group ma.e up of 52 people (46.38 ± 8.81 yea.s) in Porto-Novo, Benin. Methods: a.questionna.re, two explora.ion pulmona.y function tests a.d two 6-minute wa.k tests were used to identify symptoms a.d cha.ges in respira.ory va.ia.les tha. revea. the existence of bronchospa.m. Results: The frequency of respira.ory symptoms noted a.ong motorcycle ta.i drivers is higher tha. tha. recorded a.ong members of the control group. We observed tha. motorcycle drivers a. rest a.d a.ter physica. effort ha.e significa.tly lower respira.ory va.ia.les (FVC, FEV1, PEF, FEF25-75, FEF50 a.d FEF25) (p a. those recoded in control group. Conclusion: It ca. therefore be concluded tha., beca.se of the rela.ively long dura.ion of exposure a.ong motorcycle ta.i drivers, the inha.a.ion of a.tomobile polluta.ts, ma. ca.se respira.ory problems in this popula.ion.
