Degradation of duloxetine: Identification of transformation products by UHpLC-ESI(+)-HRMS/MS,in silico toxicity and wastewater analysis

Duloxetine(DUL), an antidepressant drug, has been detected in surface water and wastewater effluents, however, there is little information on the formation of its transformation products(Tps). In this work, hydrolysis, photodegradation(UV irradiation) and chlorination experiments were performed on spiked distillated water, under controlled experimental conditions to simulate abiotic processes that can occur in the environment and wastewater treatment plants(WWTps). Eleven Tps, nine from reaction with UV light and two from chlorine contact, were formed and detected by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and nine of them had their chemical structures elucidated upon analyses of their fragmentation patterns in MS/MS spectra. The formation and degradation of the Tps were observed. The parent compound was completely degraded after30 min in photodegradation and after 24 hr in chlorination. Almost all Tps were completely degraded in the experiments. The ecotoxicity and mutagenicity of the Tps were predicted based on several in silico models and it was found that a few of these products presented more ecotoxicity than DUL itself and six Tps showed positive mutagenicity. Finally, wastewater samples were analyzed and DUL and one Tp, possibly formed by chlorination process, were detected in the effluent, which showed that WWTp not only did not remove DUL, but also formed a Tp.

The emerging role of gut microbiota as a key player in the development of neurodegenerative disorders: Mammals have evolved together with commensal microbiota to establish a symbiotic relationship in which they regulate reciprocally by synthesizing and responding to several common chemical substances. In this regard, gut microbiota constitutes a consortium of bacteria that not only participates in the degradation of nutrients, but also produces metabolites, fatty acids and neurotransmitters that can act on the enzymes and receptors expressed in eukaryotic cells, which considerably affects the physiology of the host and contribute to maintaining homeostasis (Lyte, 2013).

Flow units(FU)rock typing is a common technique for characterizing reservoir flow behavior,producing reliable porosity and permeability estimation even in complex geological ***,the lateral extrapolation of FU away from the well into the whole reservoir grid is commonly a difficult task and using the seismic data as constraints is rarely a subject of *** paper proposes a workflow to generate numerous possible 3D volumes of flow units,porosity and permeability below the seismic resolution limit,respecting the available seismic data at larger *** methodology is used in the Mero Field,a Brazilian presalt carbonate reservoir located in the Santos Basin,who presents a complex and heterogenic geological setting with different sedimentological processes and diagenetic *** generated metric flow units using the conventional core analysis and transposed to the well log ***,given a Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm,the seismic data and the well log statistics,we simulated acoustic impedance,decametric flow units(DFU),metric flow units(MFU),porosity and permeability volumes in the metric *** aim is to estimate a minimum amount of MFU able to calculate realistic scenarios porosity and permeability scenarios,without losing the seismic lateral *** other words,every porosity and permeability volume simulated produces a synthetic seismic that match the real seismic of the area,even in the metric *** achieved 3D results represent a high-resolution fluid flow reservoir modelling considering the lateral control of the seismic during the process and can be directly incorporated in the dynamic characterization workflow.

Wildfires are complex natural phenomena that exert significant impacts on landscapes,societies,and *** the concept of resilience is crucial in mitigating its possible negative impacts,as it involves preparing for,responding to,and recovering from *** research aims to demonstrate the utility of in situ soil profile description in assessing land use resilience using an Analytic Hierarchy process(AHp)through an expert panel *** study examines a catchment located in the Balearic Islands,considering two fire occurrences(once and twice),comparing abandoned agricultural terraces and natural *** results demonstrated that the priority ranking of variables to assess soil profile resilience against wildfires,determined by a panel of 10 experts,identified horizon depth(25.1%),slope inclination(21.5%),and hydrological connectivity(16.6%)as the most crucial *** variables,such as number and size of roots,structure of pedal soil material,size class structure,and rock fragments,also contributed to resilience but to a lesser extent,with scores ranging from 5.7%to 9.6%.Analyzing the priorities established by the experts using AHp,the results showed that the least resilient soil horizon was H1 of the control hillslope,especially under high and low connectivity processes,which aligned with the loss of superficial soil horizons after one and two *** showed greater changes in resilience after occurring wildfires compared to terraces,with the most significant alterations occurring after the second wildfire *** study addresses a significant knowledge gap in the field by highlighting the interconnectedness of wildfires,resilience,and land use,providing insights into land management strategies for wildfire-prone regions.

Celiac disease （CD） is a common autoimmune disorder, induced by the intake of gluten proteins present in wheat, barley and rye. Contrary to common belief, this disorder is a protean systemic disease, rather than merely a pure digestive alteration. CD is closely associated with genes that code HLA-Ⅱ antigens, mainly of DQ2 and DQ8 classes. previously, it was considered to be a rare childhood disorder, but is actually considered a frequent condition, present at any age, which may have multiple complications. Tissue transglutaminase-2 （tTG）, appears to be an important component of this disease, both, in its pathogenesis and diagnosis. Active CD is characterized by intestinal and/or extra-intestinal symptoms, villous atrophy and crypt hyperplasia, and strongly positive tTG auto-antibodies. The duodenal biopsy is considered to be the ＂gold standard＂ for diagnosis, but its practice has significant limitations in its interpretation, especially in adults. Occasionally, it results in a false-negative because of patchy mucosal changes and the presence of mucosal villous atrophy is often more severe in the proximal jejunum, usually not reached by endoscopic biopsies. CD is associated with increased rates of several diseases, such as iron deficiency anemia, osteoporosis, dermatitis herpetiformis, several neurologic and endocrine diseases, persistent chronic hypertransami-nasemia of unknown origin, various types of cancer and other autoimmune disorders. Treatment of CD dictates a strict, life-long gluten-free diet, which results in remission for most individuals, although its effect on some associated extraintestinal manifestations remains to be established.
