BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE-In migraine patients,functional imaging studies have shown changes in several brain gray matter(Gm)***,1.5-T mRI has failed to detect any structural abnormality of these *** used a 3-T mRI scanner and voxel-based morphometry(VBm)to assess whether Gm density abnormalities can be seen in patients with migraine with T2-visible abnormalities and to grade their ***-In 16 migraine patients with T2 visible abnormalities and 15 matched controls,we acquired a T2-weighted and a high-resolution T1-weighted *** loads were m.a.ured on T2-weighted *** optimized version of VBm.a.alysis was used to assess regional differences in Gm densities on T1-weighted scans of patients versus *** parametric maps were thresholded at P multiple ***-Com.a.ed with controls,migraine patients had areas of reduced Gm density,mainly located in the frontal and temporal ***,patients showed increased periacqueduc-tal Gm(PAG)*** with patients without aura,migraine patients with aura had increased density of the PAG and of the dorsolateral *** migraine patients,reduced Gm density was strongly related to age,disease duration,and T2-visible lesion load(r ranging from-0.84 to-0.73).CONCLUSIONS-Structural Gm.a.normalities can be detected in migraine patients with brain T2-visible lesions using VBm.a.d a high-field mRI *** Gm changes comprise areas with reduced and increased density and are likely related to the pathological substrates associated with this disease.

We generalize several well known quantum equations to a Tsallis’ q-scenario, and provide a quantum version of some classical fields associated with them in the recent literature. We refer to the q-Schro¨dinger, q-KleinGordon, q-Dirac, and q-Proca equations advanced in, respectively, Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 140601(2011), EPL 118,61004(2017) and references therein. We also introduce here equations corresponding to q-Yang-mills fields, both in the Abelian and non-Abelian instances. We show how to define the q-quantum field theories corresponding to the above equations, introduce the pertinent actions, and obtain equations of motion via the minimum.a.tion *** q-fields are m.a.ingful at very high energies(Te V scale) for q = 1.15, high energies(Ge V scale) for q = 1.001,and low energies(me V scale) for q =1.000001 [Nucl. Phys. A 955(2016) 16 and references therein].(See the ALICE experiment at the LHC). Surprisingly enough, these q-fields are simultaneously q-exponential functions of the usual linear fields’ logarithms.

We present an improved version of the superatom(SA)model to examine the slow-light dynamics of a few-photons signal field in cold Rydberg atoms with van der Waals(vdW)interactions.A main feature of this version is that it promises consistent estimations on total Rydberg excitations based on dynamic equations of SAs or *** consider two specific cases in which the incident signal field contains more photons with a smaller detuning or less photons with a larger detuning so as to realize the single-photon-level light *** is found that vdW interactions play a significant role even for the slow-light dynamics of a single-photon signal field as distributed Rydberg excitations are inevitable in the picture of dark-state ***,the stored(retrieved)signal field exhibits a clearly asymmetric(more symmetric)profile because its leading and trailing edges undergo different(identical)traveling journeys,and higher storage/retrieval efficiencies with well preserved profiles apply only to weaker and well detuned signal *** findings are crucial to understand the nontrivial interplay of single-photon-level light storage and distributed Rydberg excitations.

The typically tiny effect of radiation damping on a moving body can be amplified to a favorable extent by exploiting the sharp reflectivity slope at one edge of an optically induced stop-band in atoms loaded into an optical *** this paper,this phenomenon is demonstrated for the periodically trapped and coherently driven cold 87Rb atoms,where radiation damping might be much larger than that anticipated in previous proposals and become com.a.able with radiation *** an enhancement could be observed even at speeds of only a few meters per second with less than 1.0%absorption,making radiation damping experimentally accessible.

This paper explores the recent findings of some empirical research concerning Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham＇s （ISIS＇） communication and tries to synthesize them under the theoretical frame of propaganda＇s concept and practices. many authors demonstrated how ISIS propaganda cam.a.gns, in particular those deployed on cyberspace, proved to be effective in recruiting new members in both western and muslim countries. However, while most of the researches focused on ISIS＇s communication contents and narratives, few works considered other methods and techniques used for actually delivering them. This is a regrettable missing point given the fact that communication＇s and neurosciences＇ studies demonstrate that not only what is communicated but also the techniques adopted bear important consequences on the receiver＇s perceptions and behavior. Therefore, this article analyzes in particular the findings of researches carried out by communication scholars, social psychologists, and neuro-cognitive scientists on ISIS＇ persuasive communication techniques and demonstrates their importance for security studies＇ analysis of ISIS＇ propaganda. It argues that ISIS＇ success in mobilizing people and make them prone to violent action relies on-among other factors-its knowledge and exploitation of sophisticated methods of perceptions＇ manipulation and behavior＇s influence. This, in turn, demonstrates ISIS＇ possession of state-like soft power capabilities effectively deployed in propaganda cam.a.gns and therefore calls for a more complex understanding of its agency.

Regions of slow strain often produce swarm-like sequences,characterized by the lack of a clear mainshockaftershock *** comprehension of their underlying physical mechanisms is challenging and still *** used seismic recordings from the last Pollino swarm(2010-2014) and nearby to separate and map seismic scattering(from P peak-delays) and absorption(from late-time coda-wave attenuation) at different frequencies in the Pollino range and ***-scattering and high-absorption anomalies are markers of a fluid-filled fracture volume extending from SE to NW(1.5-6 Hz) across the *** increasing frequency,these anomalies approximately cover the area where the strongest earthquakes occurred from the sixteenth century until *** our interpretation,the NW fracture propagation ends where carbonates of the Lucanian Apennines begin,as marked by a high-scattering and low-absorption *** the highest frequency(12 Hz) the anomalies widen southward in the middle of the range,consistently marking the faults active during the recent Pollino *** results suggest that fracture healing has closed small-scale fractures across the SE faults that were active in the past centuries,and that the propagation of fluids may have played a crucial role in triggering the 2010-2014 Pollino *** that the fluid propagation ended at the carbonates barrier in the NW direction,fractures opened new paths to the South,favoring the nucleation of the last Pollino ***,the recently active faults in the middle of the seismogenic volume are marked by a high-scattering and highabsorption *** work provides evidence that attenuation parameters may track shape and dynamics of fluid-filled fracture networks in fault areas.

In insects and other ectotherms,cold temperatures cause a coma resulting from loss of neuromuscular function,during which ionic and metabolic homeostasis are progressively *** adaptation improves homeostasis during cold exposure,but the ultimate targets of selection are still an open *** acclimation and adaptation remodels mitochondrial metabolism in insects,suggesting that aerobic energy production during cold exposure could be a target of ***,we test the hypothesis that cold adaptation improves the ability to maintain rates of aerobic energy production during cold exposure by using^(31)P NmR on live *** lines of Drosophila melanogaster artificially selected for fast and slow recovery from.a.cold coma,we show that cold exposure does not lower ATP levels and that cold adaptation does not alter aerobic ATP production during cold ***-hardy and cold-susceptible lines both experienced a brief transition to anaerobic metabolism during cooling,but this was rapidly reversed during cold exposure,suggesting that oxidative phosphorylation was sufficient to meet energy demands below the critical thermal minimum,even in cold-susceptible *** thus reject the hypothesis that performance under mild low temperatures is set by aerobic ATP supply limitations in ***,excluding oxygen and capacity limitation as a weak link in energy *** work suggests that the modulations to mitochondrial metabolism resulting from cold acclimation or adaptation may arise from selection on a biosynthetic product(s)of those pathways rather than selection on ATP supply during cold exposure.

The Dimensional Regularization technique of Bollini and Giambiagi (BG) [Phys. Lett. B 40, 566 (1972);Il Nuovo Cim. B 12, 20 (1972);Phys. Rev. D 53, 5761 (1996)] cannot be employed for m.a.lm> Schwartz Tempered Distributions Explicitly Lorentz Invariant (STDELI) S′margin-left:-7px;">L. We lifted such limitation in [J. Phys. Comm. 2 115029 (2018)], which opens new QFT possibilities, centering in the use of STDELI that allows one to obtain a product in a ring with zero divisors. This in turn, overcomes all problems regrading QFT infinities. We provide here three examples of the application of our STDELI-extension to quantum field theory (A) the exact evaluation of an electron’s self energy to one loop, (B) the exact evaluation of QED’s vacuum polarization, and C) the mg src="Edit_***" alt="" />theory for six dimensions, that is non-renormalizable.

We revisit, advancing a useful approximation, a recently formulated QFT treatment that successfully overcomes any troubles with infinities for non-renormalizable QFTs [J. Phys. Comm. 2 115029 (2018)]. Such methodology was able to successfully deal, in non-relativistic fashion, with Newton’s gravitation potential [Annals of Physics 412, 168013 (2020)]. Our present approximation to the QFT method of [J. Phys. Comm. 2 115029 (2018)] is based on the Einstein’s Lagrangian (EG) elaborated by Gupta [1], save for a different constraint’s selection. This choice allows one to avoid the lack of unitarity for the S matrix that im.a.red the proceedings of Gupta and Feynman. moreover, we are able to simplify the handling of such constraint by eliminating the need to involve ghosts for guarantying unitarity. Our approximation consists in setting the graviton field ∅μν=&gam.a.μν∅, where &gam.a.μνis a constant tensor and ∅a scalar (graviton) field. The ensuing approximate approach is non-renormalizable, an inconvenience that we are able to overcome in [J. Phys. Comm. 2 115029 (2018)].
