The development of freestanding and binder-free electrode is an effective approach to perform the inherent capacity of active materials and promote the mechanism study by minimizing the interference from ***,we construct a freestanding cathode composed of MoS_(3)/PPy nanowires(NWs)deposited on porous nickel foam(NF)(MoS_(3)/PPy/NF)through electrochemical methods,which can work efficiently as sulfur-equivalent cathode material for Li-S *** structural stability of the MoS_(3)/PPy/NF cathode is greatly enhanced due to its significant tolerance to the volume expansion of MoS_(3)during the lithiation process,which we ascribe to the flexible 3D framework of PPy NWs,leading to superior cycling performance compared to the bulk-MoS_(3)/NF *** the interference of binder and carbon additives,the evolution of the chemical and electronic structure of Mo and S species during the discharge/charge was studied by X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy(XANES).The formation of lithium polysulfides was excluded as the driving cathode reaction mechanism,suggesting the great potential of MoS_(3)as a promising sulfur-equivalent cathode material to evade the shuttle effect for Li-S *** present study successfully demonstrates the importance of structural design of freestanding electrode enhancing the cycling performances and revealing the corresponding mechanisms.

With increasing age,humans become more susceptible to the onset of neurodegenerative diseases(NDs),and among these,Alzheimer's disease(AD)is the most frequent(Nicoletti et al.,2023).NDs are primarily characterized by neuronal loss and atrophy,but also by lesions involving the cerebral and/or cardiovascular system(balistreri,2021).Lesions such as macroinfa rcts,microinfarcts,hemorrhages,white matter lesions,atherosclerosis,and arteriolosclerosis have also been significantly described in the preclinical stages of cognitive impairment characterizing NDs(Mariani et al.,2007).

Multispecies forests have received increased scientific attention,driven by the hypothesis that biodiversity improves ecological ***,a greater species diversity presents challenges for forest management and *** study aims to develop basal area growth models for tree species *** analysis is based on a dataset of 423 permanent plots(2,500 m^(2))located in temperate forests in Durango,***,we define tree species cohorts based on individual and neighborhood-based variables using a combination of principal component and cluster ***,we estimate the basal area increment of each cohort through the generalized additive model to describe the effect of tree size,competition,stand density and site *** principal component and cluster analyses assign a total of 37 tree species to eight cohorts that differed primarily with regard to the distribution of tree size and vertical position within the *** generalized additive models provide satisfactory estimates of tree growth for the species cohorts,explaining between 19 and 53 percent of the total variation of basal area increment,and highlight the following results:i)most cohorts show a"rise-and-fall"effect of tree size on tree growth;ii)surprisingly,the competition index"basal area of larger trees"had showed a positive effect in four of the eight cohorts;iii)stand density had a negative effect on basal area increment,though the effect was minor in medium-and high-density stands,and iv)basal area growth was positively correlated with site quality except for an oak *** developed species cohorts and growth models provide insight into their particular ecological features and growth patterns that may support the development of sustainable management strategies for temperate multispecies forests.

The effects of the supplementation with L-glutamine(GLN)or L-alanyl-L-glutamine(GDP)on the progression of the systemic and hepatic metabolic status of rats having untreated type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM)were *** Wistar diabetic rats(streptozotocin,60 mg/kg)were allotted to four groups supplemented by gavage for thirty days as follows:control and diabetic receiving saline;diabetic receiving GLN(248 mg/kg);and diabetic receiving GDP(400 mg/kg).body weight,plasmatic parameters and kidney function were *** hepatocytes were used to assess gluconeogenic *** and kidney were used for morphological analyses.T1DM decreased the number and increased the area of the hepatocytes,possibly because of the observed enlargement of glycogen *** weight,glomerular area and proteinuria increased,and glomerular filtration rate decreased,in non-supplemented T1DM *** area and proteinuria were reversed by both *** T1DM hepatocytes released less glucose,which could have been diverted to glycogen synthesis and secondary glycogenosis observed in T1DM;this was partially reversed by the *** results point to a possible beneficial effect of glutamine on the metabolic and hepatic impairments of T1DM.

b_(4)C/Al composites are widely utilized as neutron absorbing materials for the storage and transportation of spent nuclear *** order to improve the high-temperature mechanical properties of b_(4)C/Al composites,in-situ nano-Al_(2)O_(3)was introduced utilizing oxide on Al powder *** this study,the Al_(2)O_(3)content was adjusted by utilizing spheroid Al powder with varying diameters,thereby investigating the impact of Al_(2)O_(3)content on the tensile properties of(b_(4)C+Al_(2)O_(3))/Al *** was found that the pinning effect of Al_(2)O_(3)on the grain boundaries could hinder the recovery of dislocations and lead to dislocation accumulation at high *** the result,with the increase in Al_(2)O_(3)content and the decrease in grain size,the high-temperature strength of the composites increased *** finest Al powder used in this investigation had a diameter of 1.4μm,whereas the resultant composite exhibited a maximum strength of 251 MPa at room temperature and 133 MPa at 350℃,surpassing that of traditional b_(4)C/Al composites.

Rare earth-doped mixed Ni-Cu-Zn ferrites as an effective photocatalytic agent for active degradation of Rhodamine b dye

In this study, a series of Gd^(3+)-doped mixed Ni-Cu-Zn ferrites with composition of Zn_(0.5)Ni_(0.3)Cu_(0.2)Fe_(2-x)Gd_(x)O_(4)(x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1) was prepared using self-ignition sol-gel method. The prepared nanoparticles with an average size ranging from 22 to 26 nm show a single-phase cubic structure belonging to the spinel matrix. A rise in the Gd^(3+)concentration leads to an increase in crystallite size and lattice parameter. In Fourier transform infrared spectra, two main absorption bands belonging to the spinel structure are observed. The high-frequency bands(v_(1)) represent the tetrahedral complex, while the lowfrequency bands(v_(2)) signify the octahedral complex. The optical bandgap of the nanoferrites is found within the range of 2.91 to 2.41 eV, depending on their size. The magnetic characteristics of the material,such as saturation magnetization and coercivity are significantly altered with the concentration of Gd^(3+)in the solution. Using Rhodamine b(Rhb) as a model organic pollutant, an in-depth investigation of the photocatalytic activity of the compounds was carried out. The present outcomes show that adding an adequate amount of Gd^(3+)significantly enhances the number of hydroxyl radicals produced by the ferrite,in turn, increasing the photocatalytic activity of the material. Mechanism elucidated by scavenger studies reveals that ·OH and holes are the primary reactive radicals responsible for the degradation *** photocatalysts show an insignificant performance loss in five consecutive cycles. Thus, it is concluded that these photocatalysts are highly suitable for the remediation of dye-contaminated wastewater.

Gravity models given by higher-order scalar curvature corrections are believed to bear important consequences. Einstein-bel-Robinson (EbR) gravity with quartic curvature modification motivated Sajadi et al. to explore static spherically symmetric black hole solutions using perturbative methods. In this study, inspired by their work, we investigate AdS black hole shadows in EbR gravity and demonstrate how the gravity parameter alters the energy emission rate. Finally, we address the same problem in the presence of plasma, because the black holes are thought to be surrounded by a medium that changes the geodesic of photons.
