Microscopic traffic simulations are useful for solving various trafficrelated problems,*** jams and accidents,local and global environmental and energy problems,maintaining mobility in aging societies,and evacuation planning for natural as well as man-made *** origin-destination(OD)matrix is often used as the input to represent traffic demands into traffic *** this study,we propose an indirect method for estimating the OD matrix using a traffic simulator as an internal *** proposed method is designed to output results that are consistent with the input of the *** method consists of the following steps:(1)calculating link traffic volume from the OD matrix,and(2)updating the *** estimated matrix is updated iteratively until it converges to a predefined tolerance *** experiments are then conducted using the proposed method on a grid network and on a representation of an actual road ***,we discuss the characteristics of the proposed method and the non-negative constraint for the traffic volume.

Bose-Einstein condensation is a state of matter known to be responsible for peculiar properties exhibited by superfluid Helium-4 and superconductors. Bose-Einstein condensate （BEC） in its pure form is realizable with alkali atoms under ultra-cold temperatures. In this paper, we review the experimental scheme that demonstrates the atomic Bose-Einstein condensate. We also elaborate on the theoretical framework for atomic Bose-Einstein condensation, which includes statistical mechan- ics and the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. As an extension, we discuss Bose-Einstein condensation of photons realized in a fluorescent dye filled optical microcavity. We analyze this phenomenon based on the generalized Planck＇s law in statistical mechanics. Further, a comparison is made between photon condensateand laser. We describe how photon condensate may be a possible alternative for lasers since it does not require an energy consuming population inversion process.

Bell inequality is violated by the quantum mechanical predictions made from an entangled state of the composite *** this paper we examine this inequality and entanglement measures in the construction of the coherent states for two-qubit pure and mixed states,we find a link to some entanglement measures through some new parameters(amplitudes of coherent states).Conditions for maximal entanglement and separability are then established for both pure and mixed ***,we analyze and compare the violation of Bell inequality for a class of mixed states with the degree of entanglement by applying the formalism of Horodecki et al.

Objective To investigate protective effect of Coleus aromaticus leaf extract against naphthalene induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Methods Eighteen male rats were divided into three groups. Group I rats were treated as control. Group II rats were intraperitoneally administered with naphthalene （435 mg/kg ***） dissolved in corn oil once a day for a period of 30 days. Group III rats were treated with leaf extract （100 mg/kg ***） dissolved in 0.9% saline and naphthalene （435 mg/kg ***） dissolved in corn oil once a day for a period of 30 days. Results Significant protective effect was observed against naphthalene induced liver damage, which appeared evident from the response levels of marker enzymes （aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase）. The biochemical components viz. triglycerides, free fatty acids, cholesterol acyl transferase, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, cholesterol and bilirubin were found to be increased in liver and serum of naphthalene stressed rats when compared to control. Conclusion Treatment of naphthalene intoxicated rats with plant extract reversed these distorted parameters to near normal levels. Liver histology showed supportive evidence regarding the protective nature of plant extract against fatty changes induced by naphthalene. The present study provides a scientific rationale for using C. aromaticus in the management of liver disorders.

Bacterial adherence is an essential virulence factor in pathogenesis and infection. Fusobacterium nucleatum has a central role in oral biofilm architecture by acting as a bridge between early Gram-positive and late Gram-negative colonizers that do not otherwise adhere to each other. In this study, we survey a key adherence interaction of F. nucleatum with Porphyromonas gingivalis, and present evidence that multiple fusobacterial adhesins have a role in the attachment of F. nucleatum ATCC 23726 to P. gingivalis in a highly strain-dependent manner. Interaction between these species displayed varying sensitivities to arginine, galactose and lactose. Arginine was found to hamper coaggregation by at least 62% and up to 89% with several P. gingivalis strains and galactose inhibition ranged from no inhibition up to 58% with the same P. gingivalis strains. Lactose consistently inhibited F. nucleatum interaction with these P. gingivalis strains ranging from 40% to 56% decrease in coaggregation. Among the adhesins involved are the previously described Fap2 and surprisingly, RadD, which was described in an earlier study for its function in attachment of F. nucleatum to Gram-positive species. We also provide evidence for the presence of at least one additional adhesin that is sensitive to arginine but unlike Fap2 and RadD, is not a member of the autotransporter family type of fusobacterial large outer membrane proteins. The strain-specific binding profile of multiple fusobacterial adhesins to P. gingivalis highlights the heterogeneity and complexity of interspecies interactions in the oral cavity.

A study on free harmonic wave propagation in a double-walled cylindrical shell, whose walls sandwich a layer of porous materials, is presented within the framework of the classic theory for laminated composite shells. One of the most effective components of the wave propagation through the porous core is estimated with the aid of a flat panel with the same geometrical properties. By considering the effective wave component, the porous layer is modeled as a fluid with equivalent properties. Thus, the model is simplified as a double-walled cylindrical shell trapping the fluid media. Finally, the transmission loss （TL） of the structure is estimated in a broadband frequency, and then the results are compared.

Multi-agent technology has been applied extensively to many areas, including Decision Support Systems （DSS）. However, the applications of multi-agent technology in DSS are still very preliminary. Most of the current agent frameworks, such as middle-agent-based or agent-facilitator-based frameworks, are basically agent-to-agent model. These agent-based frameworks often neglect the living environment for agents and they suffer from：（i） inability to adapt to the environment, （ii） inability to self-upgrade, and （iii） inefficiency in information acquisition. Here, we introduce a recently proposed multi-agent framework, namely Agent-based Open Connectivity for Decision Support Systems （AOCD）. In this new framework, the communication and cooperation between agents are through a key component, the Matrix, which provides a virtual platform for agents. We use a unified Matrices framework to solve the bottleneck problem in the AOCD framework. Our experimental results based on different agent network topologies indicate that the hybrid topology presents superior performance compared with the centralised and decentralised topologies.

Gastric digestion of pea ferritin and modulation of its iron bioavailability by ascorbic and phytic acids in caco-2 cells

AIM： To understand the digestive stability and mechanism of release and intestinal uptake of pea ferritin iron in caco-2 cell line model.METHODS： Pea seed ferritin was purified using salt fractionation followed by gel filtration *** bioavailability of ferritin iron was assessed using coupled in vitro digestion/Caco-2 cell model in the presence or absence of ascorbic acid and phytic ***-2 cell ferritin formation was used as a surrogate marker of iron uptake. Structural changes of pea ferritin under simulated gastric pH were characterized using electrophoresis, gel filtration and circular dichroism spectroscopy.RESULTS： The caco-2 cell ferritin formation was significantly increased （P 〈 0.001） with FeSO4 （19.3±9.8 ng/mg protein） and pea ferritin （13.9 ± 6.19 ng/mg protein） compared to the blank digest （3.7 ± 1.8 ng/mg protein）. Ascorbic acid enhanced while phytic acid decreased the pea ferritin iron bioavailability. However,either in the presence or absence of ascorbic acid, the ferritin content of caco-2 cells was significantly less with pea ferritin than with FeSO4. At gastric pH, no band corresponding to ferritin was observed in the presence of pepsin either on native PAGE or SDS-PAGE. Gel filtration chromatography and circular dichroism spectroscopy revealed a pH dependent loss of quaternary and secondary structure.CONCLUSION： Under gastric conditions, the iron core of pea ferritin is released into the digestive medium due to acid induced structural alterations and dissociation of protein. The released iron interacts with dietary factors leading to modulation of pea ferritin iron bioavailability,resembling the typical characteristics of non-heme iron.

Structural Changes of a Tropical Cyclone during Landfall: β-plane Simulations

This study investigated the effects of landfall on the structure of a tropical cyclone （TC）. Numerical simulations were performed using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model on a β-plane. Two landfall experiments, one with an east–west and another with a north–south oriented coastline, were performed. Similar to previous studies on an f-plane, large-scale flows in the low-to-middle troposphere were modified due to friction. A pair of counter rotating gyres was found, which was shown to be consistent with the slight deffection of the TC relative to the control experiment without land. Compared to previous f-plane simulations, because of the inherent asymmetries due to the β-gyres, the large-scale pattern of flows and convergences/divergences related to friction were found to depend on coastline orientations. On the other hand, regardless of the coastline orientation, convergences were found to be stronger to the left for both cases near landfall, as in previous f-plane simulations. Such a convergence pattern subsequently induced a change in convection and rainfall at the eyewall.
