Analyzing biases of nitrogen contents and δ^(15)N values arising from acidified marine sediments with different CaCO_3 concentrations

In some studies, the researchers pretreated and measured organic carbon, nitrogen and their isotopes（δ^（13）C and δ^（15）N） of marine sediment together, to save costs and resources of analysis. However, the procedure of acidification to remove inorganic carbon for analysing δ^（13）C can affect the values of nitrogen and δ^（15）N, and the biases vary a lot depending on the CaCO_3 contents of sediments. In this study, the biases of total nitrogen（TN）and δ^（15）N values arising from acidified sediments were compared between the CaCO_3-poor（1%–16%） and CaCO_3-rich（20%–40%） samples. TN and δ^（15）N values were altered during acid treatment（without centrifugation） that possibly led to N-containing compounds volatilization. For CaCO_3-poor samples, acidification led to a range of 0%–40% TN losses and 0‰–2‰ shift in δ^（15）N values; and 10%–60% TN losses and 1‰–14‰ shift in δ^（15）N values for CaCO_3-rich samples. The biases from most samples exceeded the precision of the instrument（0.002% for TN and 0.08‰ for δ^（15）N）, and high biases could mislead our judgment for the environmental implication of the data. Thus,avoiding co-analysis of organic carbon, nitrogen and their isotopes（δ^（13）C and δ^（15）N） in sediments, even for CaCO_3-poor marine sediments, is necessary.

Intermetallic clathrates are materials characterized by a large cage structure where guest atoms can move anharmonically,providing these materials exotic thermoelectric ***,the dynamical and atomic nature of the rattling phonons,and their interactions with the electronic structure,are not fully ***,we report that a germanium isotope effect can trigger an inherent guest rattling and cage distortion in clathrate Ba8Ga16Ge30(BGG).Raman-scattering spectroscopy and advanced electron microscopy demonstrate that the atomic germanium isotope effect induces an offcentre rattling at the 6d sites as well as a tetrakaidecahedron deformation which is anisotropic for ntype BGG but isotropic for p-type *** present findings indicate that the large n-type germanium isotope effect arises from the strong electron-phonon coupling,which opens up a novel avenue for manipulating dynamical motions of phonons via atomic isotope engineering.

We performed angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy studies on a series of FeTe_(1-x)Se_x monolayer films grown on Sr TiO_*** superconductivity of the films is robust and rather insensitive to the variations of the band position and effective mass caused by the substitution of Se by ***,the band gap between the electron-and hole-like bands at the Brillouin zone center decreases towards band inversion and parity exchange,which drive the system to a nontrivial topological state predicted by theoretical *** results provide a clear experimental indication that the FeTe_(1-x)Se_x monolayer materials are high-temperature connate topological superconductors in which band topology and superconductivity are integrated intrinsically.

This work deals with the stability and synchronization of systems with time-varying *** propose a novel control scheme with position/velocity information channel on the basis of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional （LKF） and H∞ control theory by using Linear Matrix Inequality （LMI）.The proposed solution is efficient for different working conditions,such as abrupt motion and wall contact,and this is illustrated by various simulations.

In this article,a gain scheduling strategy for the controller of a remote robot based on Internet and Bluetooth networks is designed and *** Internet communication is based on the Master-Slave structure,UDP *** Slave comprises a PC and a mobile robot,interconnected through the protocol *** Master is a second PC which realizes the remote control,the design of which is based on a remote observer achieving a state prediction of the robot（Slave）,despite the variable communication delays,sampling and packets *** detected variable time-delays serve as the switching signals. The gain scheduling state feedback controller is based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and the approach of LMI,which guarantee the uniform stabilization performance.

The electronic structure of iron-pnictide compound superconductor Ba_2Ti_2Fe_2As_4O, which has metallic intermediate Ti_2O layers, is studied using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The Ti-related bands show a‘peak-dip-hump＇ line shape with two branches of dispersion associated with the polaronic states at temperatures below around 120 K. This change in the spectra occurs along with the resistivity anomaly that was not clearly understood in a previous study. Moreover, an energy gap induced by the superconducting proximity effect opens in the polaronic bands at temperatures below T_c（~21 K）. Our study provides the spectroscopic evidence that superconductivity coexists with polarons in the same bands near the Fermi level, which provides a suitable platform to study interactions between charge, lattice and spin freedoms in a correlated system.

We performed a combined angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy study of the electronic structure of electron-doped Ca_(0.83)La_(0.17)Fe_(2)As_(2).A surface reconstruction associated with the dimerization of As atoms is observed directly in the real space,as well as the consequent band folding in the momentum *** this band folding effect,the Fermi surface topology of this material is similar to that reported previously for BaFe_(1.85)Co_(0.15)As_(2),with Γ-centered hole pockets quasi-nested to M-centered electron pockets by the antiferromagnetic wave *** no superconducting gap is observed by ARPES possibly due to low superconducting volume fraction,a gap-like density of states depression of 7.7±2.9 meV is determined by scanning tunneling microscopy.
