Ribosome biogenesis and protein synthesis are fundamental rate-limiting steps for cell growth and *** ribosomal proteins(RPs),comprising the structural parts of the ribosome,are essential for ribosome assembly and *** addition to their canonical ribosomal functions,multiple RPs have extra-ribosomal functions including activation of p53-dependent or p53-independent pathways in response to stress,resulting in cell cycle arrest and *** in ribosome biogenesis,translation,and the functions of individual RPs,including mutations in RPs have been linked to a diverse range of human congenital disorders termed *** are characterized by tissue-specific phenotypic abnormalities and higher cancer risk later in *** discoveries of somatic mutations in RPs in multiple tumor types reinforce the connections between ribosomal defects and *** this article,we review the most recent advances in understanding the molecular consequences of RP mutations and ribosomal defects in ribosomopathies and *** particularly discuss the molecular basis of the transition from hypo-to hyper-proliferation in ribosomopathies with elevated cancer risk,a paradox termed"Dameshek's riddle."Furthermore,we review the current treatments for ribosomopathies and prospective therapies targeting ribosomal *** also highlight recent advances in ribosome stress-based cancer ***,insights into the mechanisms of resistance to therapies targeting ribosome biogenesis bring new perspectives into the molecular basis of cancer susceptibility in ribosomopathies and new clinical implications for cancer therapy.

Light quality and temperature effects on antirrhinum growth and development

An experiment was carried out to examine the effects of light quality on the growth and development of antirrhinum under three different temperatures 19℃, 24℃ and 27℃ in glasshouses. Five different colour filters (i.e. 'Red absorbing', 'blue absorbing', 'blue and Red absorbing' and two 'partially blue absorbing' materials) were tested, with one clear polythene as a control. Plant height, internode length and leaf area were significantly affected by the spectral filters as well as the *** of color filter's effect on presumed photoreceptors to exist indicated that antirrhinum plant height was regulated by the action of a blue acting photoreceptor (bAP) and not the phytochrome. There was no evidence for an effect ofphytochrome or bAP on time to flowering, however, increasing temperature levels effectively decreased the time to flowering. To predict the effects of different spectral qualities and temperature, simple models were created from data on plant height, internode length and time to flowering. These models were then applied to simulate the potential benefits of spectral filters and temperature in manipulation of growth control and flowering in antirrhinum.

As polio-endemic countries move towards elimination,infrequent first infections and incomplete surveillance make it difficult to determine when the virus has been eliminated from the *** and Dietz[American Journal of Epidemiology,143,8(1996)]proposed a model to estimate the probability of silent polio circulation depending upon when the last paralytic case was *** the same kind of stochastic model they did,we additionally model waning polio immunity in the context of isolated,small,and unvaccinated *** compare using the Eichner and Dietz assumption of an initial case at the start of the simulation to a more accurate determination that observes the first *** former estimates a higher probability of silent circulation in small populations,but this effect diminishes with increasing model *** also show that stopping the simulation after a specific time estimates a lower probability of silent circulation than when all replicates are run to extinction,though this has limited impact on small *** extensions to the Eichner and Dietz work improve the basis for decisions concerning the probability of silent *** model realism will be needed for accurate silent circulation risk assessment.

NOD2 and ATG16L1 polymorphisms affect monocyte responses in Crohn's disease

AIM： TO assess whether polymorphisms in NOD2 and ATG16L1 affect cytokine responses and mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis （MAP） survival in monocytes from Crohn＇s disease （CD） patients METHODS： Monocytes were isolated from peripheral blood of CD patients of known genotype for common single nucleotide polymorphisms of NOD2 and ATG16L1, Monocytes were challenged with MAP and bacterial per- sistence assessed at subsequent time-points. Cytokine responses were assayed using a Milliplex multi-analyte profiling assay for 13 cytokines. RESULTS： Monooltes heterozygous for a NOD2 polymorphism （R702W, P268S, or 1007fs） were more permissive for growth of MAP （P = 0.045） than those without. There was no effect of NOD2 genotype on subsequent cytokine expression. The T300A polymorphism of ATG16L1 did not affect growth of MAP in our model （P = 0.175）, but did increase expression of cytokines interleukin （IL）-10 （P = 0.047） and IL-6 （P = 0.019）. CONCLUSION： CD-associated polymorphisms affected the eliminaUon of MAP from ex v/vo monooltes （NOD2）, or expression of certain oltokines （ATG16LI）, implying independent but contributory roles in the pathogenesis of CD.

SLC11A1 polymorphisms in inflammatory bowel disease and Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis status

AIM: To test for association of SLC11A1 with inflammatory bowel disease (IbD) and Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) status in a Caucasian cohort. METHODS: Five hundred and seven Crohn's disease (CD) patients, 474 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, and 569 healthy controls were genotyped for SLC11A1 1730G>A and SLC11A1 469+14G>C using pre-designed TaqMan  SNP assays. χ 2 tests were applied to test for association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with disease, and the presence of MAP ***:SLC11A1 1730G>A and SLC11A 1469+14G>C were not associated with CD, UC, or IbD. The SLC11A1 1730A minor allele was over-represented in patients who did not require immunomodulator therapy (P = 0.002, OR: 0.29, 95% CI: 0.13-0.66). The frequency of the SLC11A1 469+14C allele was higher in the subset of study participants who tested positive for MAP DNA (P = 0.02, OR: 1.56, 95% CI: 1.06-2.29). No association of SLC11A1 1730G>A with MAP was ***: Although SLC11A1 was not associated with IbD, association with MAP suggests that SLC11A1 is important in determining susceptibility to bacteria implicated in the etiology of CD.

Discontinuous chains of ultramafic rock bodies form part of the 3800–3700 Ma Isua Supracrustal belt(ISb),hosted in the Itsaq Gneiss Complex of southwestern *** bodies are among the world’s oldest outcrops of ultramafic rocks and hence an invaluable geologic *** rocks from Lens b in the northwestern limb of ISb show characteristics of several stages of serpentinization and deserpentinization forming prograde and retrograde mineral ***-rich humite-group minerals such as titanian chondrodite(Ti-Chn)and titanian clinohumite(Ti-Chu)often occur as accessory phases in the metamorphosed ultramafic *** Ti-rich humite minerals are associated with metamorphic *** host olivine is highly forsteritic(Fo96-98)with variable Mn O and Ni O *** concentrations of the rare-earth elements(REE)and high-field strength elements(HFSE)of the metamorphic olivine are higher than typical mantle *** textural and chemical characteristics of the olivine indicate metamorphic origin as a result of deserpentinization of a serpentinized ultramafic protolith rather than primary assemblage reflecting mantle residues from high-degrees of partial *** close association of olivine,antigorite and intergrown Ti-Chn and Ti-Chu suggests pressure condition between$1.3–2.6 GPa within the antigorite stability field(b ultramafic body within the Eoarchean ISb indicate that these are allochthonous ultramafic rocks that recorded serpentine dehydration at relatively lower temperature and reached eclogite facies condition during their complex metamorphic history similar to exhumed UHP ultramafic rocks in modern subduction zone channels.

The Soft X-ray Imager(SXI)is part of the scientific payload of the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)*** is a joint science mission between the European Space Agency(ESA)and the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)and is due for launch in *** is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(FOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the SMILE *** is sensitive to the soft X-rays produced by the Solar Wind Charge eXchange(SWCX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s *** provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere,such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause,because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field *** sensitivity of the SXI is such that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of SMILE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many *** is led by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom(UK)with collaborating organisations on hardware,software and science support within the UK,Europe,China and the United States.

Unsatisfactory COVID-19-Related Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices among Undergraduate University Students in Uganda: An Online Cross-Sectional Survey

background: This study examined the COVID-19-related knowledge, attitude and practices among undergraduate students in Uganda. Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was conducted from 12th-19th June 2020 among undergraduate students using a standard questionnaire designed using Google Forms sent via WhatsApp Messenger. The data were analyzed using SPSS. pearson’s Chi-square test was used to test the differences and odds ratios with their 95% confidence intervals were used for quantifying the association between independent and dependent variables. p Results: Of the 161 respondents, 102 (63.4%) were males with a mean age of 24.2 (5.0) years. The majority 121 (75.2%) were pursuing health-related programs and overall, 110 (68.3%) had sufficient knowledge while 76 (47.2%) had a positive attitude and good practice each. Knowledge and attitude were significantly associated with health-related programs (AOR 4.78, 95% CI 2.06 - 11.07;p Conclusions: COVID-19-related knowledge, attitude and practices among undergraduates in Uganda were low overall. Therefore, concerted efforts to provide tailored health education and behaviour change communication are needed.

Innate immunity mediated by Toll-like receptors(TLRs),which can recognize pathogen molecular patterns,plays a critical role in type 1 diabetes ***7 is a pattern recognition receptor that senses single-stranded RNAs from viruses and host tissue cells;however,its role in type 1 diabetes development remains *** our study,we discovered that Tlr7-deficient(Tlr7^(−/−))nonobese diabetic(NOD)mice,a model of human type 1 diabetes,exhibited a significantly delayed onset and reduced incidence of type 1 diabetes compared with Tlr7-sufficient(Tlr7^(+/+))NOD *** investigations showed that Tlr7 deficiency significantly altered b-cell differentiation and immunoglobulin ***,Tlr7^(−/−)NOD b cells were found to suppress diabetogenic CD4^(+)T-cell responses and protect immunodeficient NOD mice from developing diabetes induced by diabetogenic T *** addition,we found that Tlr7 deficiency suppressed the antigen-presenting functions of b cells and inhibited cytotoxic CD8^(+)T-cell activation by downregulating the expression of both nonclassical and classical MHC class I(MHC-I)molecules on b *** data suggest that TLR7 contributes to type 1 diabetes development by regulating b-cell functions and subsequent interactions with T ***,therapeutically targeting TLR7 may prove beneficial for disease protection.
