The main cable bent around the saddle of the suspension bridge is subjected to the wind,the vehicle,the bridge’s own weight and the corrosive *** coupling of the three loads and the environments causes the friction,the corrosion,and the fatigue(tribo-corrosion-fatigue)among the wires inside the main *** this paper,a wire bending tribo-corrosion-fatigue test rig was designed and *** effect of fatigue load on the bending friction behaviors between the cable wires in ultrapure water and 3.5%NaCl solution was *** tribological properties and electrochemical corrosion behaviors under different fatigue loading ranges were *** tribo-corrosion-fatigue interaction between the cable wires was quantitatively characterized,and the mechanism of the interaction was *** results demonstrate that the increasing fatigue load exacerbates the coupling damage of the cable wires attributed to the enhanced *** findings carry theoretical importance when assessing the main cable’s deterioration and the load-bearing safety of a suspension bridge.

A peak enhancement of frequency response of waveguide integrated silicon-based germanium avalanche photodetector

Avalanche photodetectors(APDs) featuring an avalanche multiplication region are vital for reaching high sensitivity and responsivity in optical transceivers. Waveguide-coupled Ge-on-Si separate absorption, charge, and multiplication(SACM)APDs are popular due to their straightforward fabrication process, low optical propagation loss, and high detection sensitivity in optical communications. This paper introduces a lateral SACM Ge-on-Si APD on a silicon-on-insulator(SOI) wafer, featuring a 10 μm-long, 0.5 μm-wide Ge layer at 1310 nm on a standard 8-inch silicon photonics platform. The dark current measures approximately 38.6 μA at-21 V, indicating a breakdown voltage greater than-21 V for the device. The APDs exhibit a unitgain responsivity of 0.5 A/W at-10 V. At-15 V, their responsivity reaches 2.98 and 2.91 A/W with input powers of-10 and-25 dBm, respectively. The device's 3-dB bandwidth is 15 GHz with an input power of-15 dBm and a gain is 11.68. Experimental results show a peak in impedance at high bias voltages, attributed to inductor and capacitor(LC) circuit resonance, enhancing frequency response. Furthermore, 20 Gbps eye diagrams at-21 V and-9 dBm input power reveal signal to noise ratio(SNRs) of 5.30. This lateral SACM APD, compatible with the stand complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS) process,shows that utilizing the peaking effect at low optical power increases bandwidth.

We discuss a novel window to probe the origin of our universe via the mass functions of primordial black holes(PBHs).The mass functions of PBHs are simply estimated using the conventional Press-Schechter formalism for two paradigms of cosmic origin,including inflationaryΛCDM and bounce *** standard inflationaryΛCDM model cannot generate an appreciable number of massive PBHs;however,non-trivial inflation models with blue-tilted power spectra at small scales and matter bounce cosmology provide formation mechanisms for heavy PBHs,which in turn,may seed the observed supermassive black holes(SMBHs).By fitting the SMBH mass functions at high redshift(z~6)derived from Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS)and Canada-France High-z Quasar Survey(CFHQS)quasars,for two paradigms of cosmic origin,we derive constraints on the PBH density fraction fPBHat z~6 and the characteristic mass M_(★),with the prior assumption that all SMBHs stem from *** demonstrate that this newly proposed procedure,relying on astronomical measurements that utilize deep-field surveys of SMBHs at high redshift,can be used to constrain models of cosmic ***,although not the main focus of this paper,we evolve the mass function from z~6 to z~0 through an assumption of 3×10^(8)-year Eddington’s accretion,and give a rough estimation of fPBHat z~0.

Factorized Smith Method for A Class of High-Ranked Large-ScaleТ-Stein Equations

We introduce a factorized Smith method(FSM)for solving large-scale highranked J-Stein equations within the banded-plus-low-rank structure *** effectively reduce both computational complexity and storage requirements,we develop techniques including deflation and shift,partial truncation and compression,as well as redesign the residual computation and termination *** examples demonstrate that the FSM outperforms the Smith method implemented with a hierarchical HODLR structured toolkit in terms of CPU time.

Microplastics(MPs),recognized as an emerging global environmental concern,have been extensively detected worldwide,with specific attention directed towards the Yangtze river Estuary(YRE)and East China Sea(ECS)*** their critical research significance,there remains a knowledge gap concerning the distribution of MPs in the benthic layer within this area,particularly regarding interactions governing their *** we illuminate the distribution of MPs within the benthic layer and unravel the intricate interplay between bottom water and sediment in the YRE and *** find that MPs are notably more abundant in bottom water,ranging from 8 to 175 times higher than in surface *** MPs predominantly consist of polyester fibers,exhibit a size range between 0.5 and 5.0 mm,and display distinct ***-occurrence network analysis and Principal Coordinate Analysis confirm a robust correlation between MPs in bottom water and sediment,signifying the pivotal role of bottom water in mediating the distribution and transportation of MPs within the benthic ***,a positive correlation between MPs in sediment and bottom water turbidity underscores the impact of surface sediment resuspension and upwelling on MPs *** study clarifies the intricate interactions within the benthic layer and highlights the crucial role of bottom water as a mediator in the vertical distribution of MPs,advancing our understanding of the“source-to-sink”transport processes governing MPs within water-sediment systems.

Stromal lenticule addition keratoplasty with corneal crosslinking for corneal ectasia secondary to FS-LASIK:a case series

●AIM:To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of stromal lenticule addition keratoplasty(SLAK)with corneal crosslinking(CXL)on patients with corneal ectasia secondary to femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis(FS-LASIK).●METHODS:A series of 5 patients undertaking SLAK with CXL for the treatment of corneal ectasia secondary to FS-LASIK were followed for *** lenticules were collected from patients undertaking small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)for the correction of *** a stromal lenticule was aimed at improving the corneal thickness for the safe application of crosslinking and compensating for the thin cornea to improve its mechanical strength.●RESULTS:All surgeries were conducted successfully with no significant *** best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)ranged from 0.05 to 0.8-2 before *** pre-operational total corneal thickness ranged from 345-404μm and maximum keratometry(Kmax)ranged from 50.8 to *** the combination surgery,both the corneal keratometry(range 55.9 to 92.8)and total corneal thickness(range 413-482μm)significantly *** out of 5 patients had improvement of corneal biomechanical parameters(reflected by stiffness parameter A1 in Corvis ST).However,3 patients showed decreased BCVA after surgery due to the development of irregular astigmatism and transient *** the onset of corneal edema right after SLAK,the corneal topography and thickness generally stabilized after 3mo.●CONCLUSION:SLAK with CXL is a potentially beneficial and safe therapy for advanced corneal *** work needs to address the poor predictability of corneal refractometry and compare the outcomes of different surgical modes.
