In this study,we successfully synthesized Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag nanocomposites(NCPs) using the ultrasonicmediated sol-gel technique to create a multifunctional material with enhanced photocatalytic and antibacterial *** visible light photocatalytic activities of Er_(2)TiO_(5) nanoparticles(NPs) and Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag NCPs were systematically evaluated under various conditions,including different concentrations of Basic Blue 41(BB 41) dye and *** results reveal a remarkable improvement in the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag NCPs(95%) compared to Er_(2)TiO_(5) NPs(80%).Furthermore,the antibacterial efficacy of Er_(2)TiO_(5) NPs and Er2TiO_5@Ag NCPs were extensively examined against Gram-positive and Gram-negative ***,Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag NCPs exhibit significantly higher minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC) values compared to Er_(2)TiO_(5) *** antibacterial effect of Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag NCPs is particularly pronounced against *** and Pseudomonas aeruginosa,while demonstrating moderate effects on Escherichia coli and Enterococcus *** assess the biocompatibility of the synthesized materials,we investigated their internalization by MCF-7 ***,both Er_(2)TiO_(5) NPs and Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag NCPs are found to be effectively internalized by the cells,suggesting their potential application in biomedical ***,our study unveils the exceptional potential of Er_(2)TiO_(5)@Ag NCPs as a dual-action solution,simultaneously possessing enhanced photocatalytic efficiency and potent antibacterial *** multifunctional nanocomposite not only outperforms Er_(2)TiO_(5) and Ag but also paves the way for innovative applications in sustainable environmental remediation and advanced biomedical technologies,promising a brighter and cleaner future.

Magnesium(Mg)-based materials are a new generation of alloys with the exclusive ability to be biodegradable within the human/animal *** addition to biodegradability,their inherent biocompatibility and similar-to-bone density make Mg-based alloys good candidates for fabricating surgical bioimplants for use in orthopedic and traumatology *** this end,nowadays additive manufacturing(AM)along with three-dimensional(3D)printing represents a promising manufacturing technique as it allows for the integration of bioimplant design and manufacturing processes specific to given ***,this technique also faces many new challenges associated with the properties of Mg-based alloys,including high chemical reactivity,potential for combustion,and low vaporization *** this review article,various AM processes to fabricate biomedical implants from Mg-based alloys,along with their metallic microstructure,mechanical properties,biodegradability,biocompatibility,and antibacterial properties,as well as various post-AM treatments were critically ***,the challenges and issues involved in AM processes from the perspectives of bioimplant design,properties,and applications were identified;the possibilities and potential scope of the Mg-based scaffolds/implants are discussed and highlighted.

研究使用不同的中间层瞬时液相连接两种异种高温合金的适用性。在1100℃、不同时间下瞬时液相连接GTD-111/IN-718体系,研究BNi-2、BNi-3和BNi-9三种类型的中间层对该体系显微组织和力学性能的影响。采用场发射扫描电子显微镜和能量色散光谱技术,研究接头区域的成分变化和显微组织。结果表明,非热凝固区Ni_(3)B的形成受B含量控制,相应地,Ni_(3)Si的形貌受Si含量控制。Cr含量可能会阻碍B从中间层向母材迁移,非热凝固区内Cr B的形成主要受Cr含量的影响。硼化物如镍或铬硼化物基体的形成,使共晶化合物具有高的显微硬度。与使用BNi-3和BNi-2中间层的合金接头相比,等温凝固结束后,使用BNi-9中间层的合金接头其剪切强度更低,这可能与金属焊料成分中不含Si和BNi-9中含Cr有关。

Synthesis of a NiTi_(2)–AlNi–Al_(2)O_(3) nanocomposite by mechanical alloying and heat treatment of Al–TiO_(2)–NiO

The aim of the present study was to investigate the phases formed during ball milling of Al–TiO_2–NiO. For this purpose, a mixture of Al–TiO_2–NiO with a molar ratio of 6:1:1 was used. Characterization of the milled powders by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy showed the formation of nanocrystalline NiTi_2 along with AlNi. A thermodynamical investigation confirmed that NiO was reduced by Al during ball milling, which consequently promoted TiO_2 reduction and the formation of NiTi_2. Al is capable of reducing NiO either during ball milling or at temperatures above the melting point of Al; by contrast, TiO_2 can be reduced by Al only by milling.

Efficacy of combined albendazol and praziquntel and their loaded solid lipid nanoparticles components in chemoprophylaxis of experimental hydatidosis

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of combined ABZ and PZQ and their solid lipid nanoparticles in chemoprophylaxis of cystic echinococcosis(CE).Methods:ABZ and PZQ loaded solid lipid nanoparticles(SLNs) were prepared by high shear homogenization and microemulsion congealing techniques with some minor *** average size,polydispersity index(PDI),and particle size distribution were determined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and photon correlation *** females BALB/c were experimentally infected by protoscoleces(PSC) and randomly divided into four equal groups of 10 *** the end of the 3 months treatment period and 2 months rest,mice were sacrificed and the peritoneal cavity was opened for removal,counting,measuring,and histological analysis of hydatid ***:The results indicated that ABZ and PZQ chemoprophylaxis treatment reduced the wet weight and size of developed cysts 77.3% and 79%,*** corresponding result for the ABZ and PZQ loaded SLNs was 83% and 85%,***:This study for the first time demonstrated that ABZ and PZQ loaded SLNs is superior to free ABZ and PZQ for the chemoprophylaxis of CE in mice.

在转速为1100、1200和1300 r/min条件下,通过旋转摩擦焊将生物可降解镁合金与商业纯钛异种焊接后加工成螺钉,研究异种接头的性能。金相分析结果表明钛/镁合金接头处连接较好。在镁合金一侧观察到焊缝中心区(WCZ)、动态再结晶区(DRX)、热力影响区(TMAZ)和局部变形区(PDZ)。在1300 r/min转速下制备的螺钉具有最高的拉伸强度和剪切强度,分别为173和103.2 MPa。钛/镁合金异种摩擦焊接头在含有Ti3Al的金属间化合物区附近失效。由于晶粒细化(8.57μm)和钛颗粒的影响,从镁合金一侧到焊缝区,硬度值逐渐增大;而钛一侧的硬度值保持不变。浸泡实验显示钛/镁合金接头的腐蚀速率高于纯钛与镁合金的腐蚀速率。此外,1300 r/min转速下制备的接头由于其更好的耐腐蚀性能,显示出更好的生物相容性和细胞活性(98.12%)。

Pneumococcal meningitis in Iran: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective: To estimate the frequency of pneumococcal meningitis among patients with bacterial meningitis in Iran. Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Scientific Information Database (www. ***) were searched from 2000 to 2016 to identify studies on the frequency or prevalence of pneumococcal meningitis in Iran. Stata 14.0 (StataCorp, College Station, Texas, USA) was used to analyze the data. Results: Of the 131 records identified from the databases, 21 studies fulfilled the eligibility criteria. The analyses showed that 25.0% (95% CI: 19.0-32.0;I2=71%) of the confirmed bacterial meningitis (including children and adults) cases were caused by pneumococcus. Conclusions: The large fraction of meningitis cases caused by pneumococcus demonstrates that pneumococcal meningitis is a major public health problem in Iran, and the introduction of pneumococcal vaccines merits further attention from health authorities.

Serum immunoglobulin A concentration is a reliable biomarker for liver fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

AIM:To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of serum Immunoglobulin A(IgA)for differentiating early stage nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)from nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).METHODS:All cases had fatty liver change confirmed by ultrasound and aminotransferases of at least twice the normal *** and biochemical data,including serum IgA,were obtained from 50 histologically proven NAFLD cases and 54 healthy *** whole blood samples were obtained from the study *** methods were used to measure the IgA *** NAFLD cases were hospitalized for liver *** specimens were examined for steatosis,steatohepatitis and fibrosis within *** were categorized into two groups:NASH and *** were compared within cases(NASH vs non-NASH)and ***-off values of serum IgA were evaluated using analysis of receiver operating characteristic(ROC curves).Associations between the variables were tested using calculations of correlation *** significances were assigned to P values<***:The extent of liver fibrosis correlated positively with IgA *** with no fibrosis in their liver biopsies had a lower IgA level(301.5±91.2 mg/dL)than subjects with any degree of fibrosis(388.8±140.8 mg/dL),(P=0.01).IgA levels were higher in NASH cases,and its value was significantly higher for higher degrees of *** with perisinusoidal or pericellular fibrosis had significantly higher levels of IgA(403.5±133.9 mg/dL,418.2±129.5 mg/dL)compared to those without it(301.8±94.9 mg/dL,297.7±91.5 mg/dL),*** significant correlation was found between steatosis grade and serum IgA *** on ROC analysis,the best predictive IgA cutoff value for detecting liver fibrosis was 360mg/dL(61%sensitivity,81%specificity).CONCLUSION:The serum IgA level is useful to evaluate the severity of liver fibrosis and can be used serially for evaluation and follow-up of NAFLD
