通过对渭北黄土高原刺槐人工林最大林木的树干解析和年轮分析描述了林分最大两株林木的树高、直径和材积生长过程。结果表明 ,矮林树高初期生长迅速 ,“好”立地的最大木高生长大于“差”立地上的最大木 ,矮林和“差”立地上的乔林之间树高生长过程达到最高峰的年龄为 4～ 8a ,“好”立地上的乔林为 12a左右。直径生长可以分为速生期和缓慢生长期 ,年轮波动在速生期幅度大 ,进入缓慢生长期后幅度小但频度加大。依据直径生长过程可以区分为两组 :第一组为最大木和次大木速生期为造林后 6～ 8a的林分 ;第二组林木的速生期可持续到 2 5a左右。年轮宽度的灵敏度指数在林分内最大木和次大木之间和在林分间差异都较大 ,刺槐矮林趋于比乔林大。生长越迅速 ,受到的人为干扰越强 ,年轮变化对干扰的反映越敏感 ,年轮灵敏度指数就越高。抚育间伐时常常伐去了利用价值高的个体。

出于可重复性考虑,车辆空气动力学和气动声学的研发工作主要在风洞中稳态流动条件下进行,然而在真实路况下车辆经受着非稳态湍流,这是由比如侧风阵风、路边障碍物与稳定侧风的组合影响或前方行驶的车辆所引起的.为了能够以可重复再现的方式来模拟该路面场景,开发了一套主动湍流发生器系统FKFS swing?,并运用于斯图加特大学的全尺寸气动声学风洞中,风洞由FKFS运营.该系统由垂直跨越风洞喷口的8个翼型组成,能够以高达10 Hz的频率动态改变流动角度.先前的研究表明,开口射流对主动偏转的动态响应改变了由位置和频率变化所产生的流动角度.一种用于量化该特性的方法被提出并运用于斯特劳哈尔数高达0.45的情况.本研究中,该方法被用于分析更高斯特劳哈尔数至1.2情况下的动态响应,这与非稳态气动声学相关.结果表明,在更高的斯特劳哈尔数下射流特性对流动角度的影响减小.

This paper studies several problems , which are potentially relevant for the construction of adaptive numerical schemes. First, biorthogonal spline wavelets on [0,1] are chosen as a starting point for characterizations of functions in Besom spaces B(?)(0,1) with 0<σ<∞ and (1+σ)-1<γ<∞. Such function spaces are known to be related to nonlinear approximation. Then so called restricted nonlinear approximation procedures with respect to Sobolev space norms are considered. Besides characterization results Jackson type estimates for various tree-type and tresholding algorithms are investigated. Finally known approximation results for geometry induced singularity functions of boundary integeral equations are combined with the characterization results for restricted nonlinear approximation to show Besov space regularity results.

The HIV pandemic seems to be fading to some degree—but there are regional exceptions. The current liberal prevention strategy with programs aimed at risk reduction interventions in particular for sexual behavior and injecting drug use has been expanded by antiretroviral treatment approaches. It was expected to keep the prevalence of infectious individuals below a certain threshold to curb self-sustaining chains of HIV infections. The introduction of biomedical approaches by ART/HAART with regard to practicing risk reduction behavior has been received as an exemption of responsibility by certain populations who are defined as “at-risk” population. Certain parts of the hard-to-reach, high-risk population have returned to unsafe sex practices leading to careless behavior which in turn has promoted the spread of HIV. This is supported by modern trends in risk societies where with regard to HIV basic principles of ethics and tenets of the Human Rights like “don’t harm other people” have lost any normative power. In addition, with the support of NGOs, legal norms such as protecting the “bodily integrity of individuals” have been ignored, allowing the “passing of HIV to partners” to become socially acceptable behavior. As a whole, in defiance of the endeavors of prevention applied so far, certain societies are exposed to an ongoing spread of HIV.

Investigation of Unsteady Flow Fields for Flow Control Research by Means of Particle Image Velocimetry

Unsteady three-dimensional flow phenomena must be investigated and well understood to be able to design devices to control such complex flow phenomena in order to achieve the desired behavior of the flow and to assess their performance, even in harsh industrial environments. Experimental investigations for flow control research require measurement techniques capable to resolve the flow field with high spatial and temporal resolution to be able to perceive the relevant phenomena. Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), providing access to the unsteady flow velocity field, is a measurement technique which is readily available commercially today. This explains why PIV is widely used for flow control research. A number of standard configurations exist, which, with increasing complexity, allow capturing flow velocity data instantaneously in geometrical arrangements extending from planes to volumes and in temporal arrangements extending from snapshots to temporarily well resolved data. With increasing complexity these PIV systems require advancing expertise of the user and growing investment costs. Using typical problems of flow control research, three different standard PIV systems will be characterized briefly. It is possible to upgrade a PIV system from a simple planar to a “high end” tomographic PIV system over a period of time, if sufficient PIV expertise can be built up and budget for additional investments becomes available.

This article focuses on emerging trends conflicting current HIV prevention concepts. We address developments in Europe where similar HIV prevention strategies are applied. With epidemiological, time-staggered records from a European institution, we show how ineffective HIV prevention measures have turned out. The decision-makers responsible for these prevention concepts have ignored a multitude of individual motivations from people responsible for the spread of HIV. Both the legal classification of the messages of the prevention campaigns and the obligations of those affected by HIV concerning their social responsibility are analyzed. There are published requirements for updated, multisectoral prevention campaigns. They focus on the intensification of HIV testing concepts to reduce the proportion of late presenters and to link key populations of various kinds to medical and social care services. Four categories present relevant issues with the potential to combine them into suitable arrangements for new prevention concepts.

An enhanced neutron production and an enhanced nuclear destruction due to secondary fragments have been observed in very thick targets irradiated with high energy ions. This enhancement is beyond theoretical calculations and it is an unresolved problem. It is observed only when primary ion interactions exceed an energy threshold (ECM/u ≈ 150 MeV). Investigations using nuclear emulsions for very high-energy nuclear reactions suggest that two distinctly different classes of relativistic projectile-like fragments are emitted in primary interactions: a “cool” channel with a temperature of (T(p)cool ≈ 10 MeV), and a “hot” channel with (T(p)hot ≈ 40 MeV. This second reaction class may induce the above mentioned enhanced reactions of secondary fragments, thus being responsible for unresolved problems. This assumption should be studied in further experiments. Nuclear interactions of secondary particles in thick targets are of interest, in particular in view of radiation protection needs for high energy and high intensity heavy ion accelerators. Many basic ideas of this paper go back to the late Professor E. Schopper (Frankfurt).
