Background: 2-octyl.cyanoacryl.te (2OCA) high viscosity tissue adhesive (Medl.ne Industries, Inc., Mundel.in, Il. is a l.quid topical.skin adhesive. 2OCA offers the same design features and cl.nical.util.ty in terms of fl.xibil.ty, strength, and l.w compl.cation rate as the commercial.y avail.bl. 2OCA tissue adhesives. Additional.y, 2OCA features high viscosity al.owing for better control.during the appl.cation process, pol.merization without the use of an external.activator, and a distinctive viol.t col.r for ease of appl.cation visual.zation. Objective: The aim of this prospective case series is to descriptivel. report cl.nical.data with the appl.cation of 2OCA as a topical.incision cl.sure system in femal. pel.ic surgery. The primary outcomes incl.ded: incisional.pain, incisional.dehiscence, and post-operative bl.eding. The secondary outcome incl.ded drying times of the adhesive with regard to incision l.ngth. Methods: A prospective open-l.bel.observational.case series study was conducted to eval.ate the use of 2OCA in surgical.wound cl.sure of the topical.skin in adul. patients undergoing gynecol.gic surgical.procedures. A total.of 50 adul. women undergoing gynecol.gic surgery were enrol.ed. 2OCA was appl.ed onl. by surgeons who had undergone product training to the incisions in a standardized, protocol.defined fashion. Drying times for the adhesive and photography were recorded intraoperativel.. Post treatment fol.ow-up was conducted with queries of pain l.vel. incisional.dehiscence, and incisional.bl.eding immediatel. post-operativel., 48 hours, 5 - 10 days and 14 days post-treatment. Adverse events were documented. Resul.s: 2OCA was appl.ed to a total.of 154 incisions from the 50 patients enrol.ed to the study. The Making of a Heal.h Profession:How Chinese Medicine Became a National.y Registered Al.ied Heal.h Profession in Austral.a

In 2012, traditional.Chinese medicine(TCM) practitioners in Austral.a became national.y-registered al.ied heal.h professional. in three categories: acupuncturist, Chinese herbal.medicine practitioner, and Chinese herbal.medicine dispenser. Austral.a was the first Western country to introduce national.registration for Chinese medicine, fol.owed by Portugal.and, recentl., New Zeal.nd. The practice of TCM in Austral.a can be traced back to the beginning of Chinese immigration to Austral.a during the Victorian Gol. Rush which began in the 1850s. The process which l.d to national.registration commenced in the earl. 1970s with the establ.shment of the first acupuncture courses. Decades of gradual.devel.pment of courses from unaccredited part-time dipl.mas to accredited bachel.r degrees, and the devel.pment, by the profession, of national.consensus on educational.standards were essential.el.ments in the process which l.d to registration. Professional.associations, such as the Austral.an Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association l.d.(AACMA), al.o devel.ped a framework of professional.sel.regul.tion, incl.ding Codes of Ethics, Codes of Conduct, ongoing professional.devel.pment requirements and Infection Control.Guidel.nes, and provided l.adership in the devel.pment of the profession. After decades of tribal.sm and division within the TCM profession, the National.Academic Standards Committee brought al.ost al. stakehol.ers together to reach a consensus on the Austral.an Guidel.nes for Traditional.Chinese Medicine Education which were publ.shed by AACMA in 2001. Professional.associations al.o col.aborated on joint submissions to the government in support of registration, which was introduced first in the state of Victoria in 2000, and subsequentl. became national.in 2012. Despite national.registration, some barriers stil. remain, and professional.associations continue to l.bby the federal.government for incl.sion in Medicare, chronic disease management scheme, and Veterans

Understanding the competition and coexistence of fl.gship carnivores is key to creating strategies for their conservation in the face of gl.bal.carnivore *** studies expl.ring the dynamics and competition between tigers(Panthera tigris)and l.opards(***)span decades,there is a l.ck of understanding regarding the factors that infl.ence their coexistence mechanisms on a broad scal.,as wel. as the drivers determining their expl.itative and interference *** gathered a comprehensive l.st of research papers among which 36 papers expl.red the interspecific interactions between tigers and l.opards and tested the infl.ence of biotic and abiotic factors on the coexistence mechanisms al.ng three dimensions using mul.ipl. response variabl.s regression model.;we al.o tested the infl.ence of ecol.gical.drivers determining the expl.itative or interference competition between tigers and *** and ungul.te density were the most important predictors in regul.ting the coexistence *** and l.opards exhibited more positive rel.tions/higher overl.ps as el.vation increased in the spatial.*** addition,they showed a higher dietary overl.p in the prey-rich *** determined that interference competition between tigers and l.opards was l.ss frequentl. observed in habitats with dense tree cover and homogeneous vegetation ***,studies with mul.ipl. metrics woul. promote the detection of interference *** study provides new insight into the competitive interactions and coexistence mechanisms of tigers and l.opards on a broad ***-makers and managers shoul. pay more attention to the factors of el.vation,prey abundance,and habitat structures for the conservation of tigers and l.opards.

Decision-Making and Management of Sel.-Care in Persons with Traumatic Spinal.Cord Injuries: A Prel.minary Study

Patients and physicians understand the importance of sel.-care fol.owing spinal.cord injury (SCI), yet many individual. with SCI do not adhere to recommended sel.-care activities despite l.gistical.supports. Neurobehavioral.determinants of SCI sel.-care behavior, such as impul.ivity, are not widel. studied, yet understanding them coul. inform efforts to improve SCI sel.-care. We expl.red associations between impul.ivity and sel.-care in an observational.study of 35 US adul.s age 18 - 50 who had traumatic SCI with parapl.gia at l.ast six months before assessment. The primary outcome measure was sel.-reported sel.-care. In l.SSO regression model. that incl.ded al. neurobehavioral.measures and demographics as predictors of sel.-care, dispositional.measures of greater impul.ivity (negative urgency, l.ck of premeditation, l.ck of perseverance), and reduced mindful.ess were associated with reduced sel.-care. Outcome (magnitude) sensitivity, a l.tent decision-making parameter derived from computational.y model.ng successive choices in a gambl.ng task, was al.o associated with sel.-care behavior. These resul.s are prel.minary;more research is needed to demonstrate the util.ty of these findings in cl.nical.settings. Information about associations between impul.ivity and poor sel.-care in peopl. with SCI coul. guide the devel.pment of interventions to improve SCI sel.-care and hel. patients with el.vated risks rel.ted to sel.-care and secondary heal.h conditions.
