The population.plagued with the HIV/AIDS pan.emic in.Cameroon.is youn., a gen.ration.that may desire or con.rol fertility. For those who may become pregn.n., the desire to have children.may n.t be there. We carried out this study to look at the picture of the reproductive health n.eds of women.livin. with HIV/AIDS in.our settin.. In.this cross-section.l n.n.an.lytic design.that lasted for three years, we employed both qualitative an. quan.itative methods to collect data from them after receivin. ethical clearan.e (n.21/CM/2009) from the n.tion.l Ethics Committee. Con.en.in. HIV in.ected women.who were atten.in. the “HIV Day Care” clin.cs an. those who delivered an. were in.the post partum wards in.four of our major hospitals in.Yaoun.e were en.olled. In.erviews were in.ividualized. We used both CSPro version.4.1 an. Statistical Package for Social Scien.es (SPSS) version.19.0 softwares for data an.lysis. Four hun.red an. fifteen.(415) women.were en.olled;the mean.age was 29 ± 7.8 years;the most represen.ed age group was 24 -29 years. They were sin.le (36.14%), well educated (5 out of 10 had attain.d un.versity level of education., 61.20% revealed that their partn.rs kn.w their HIV status, 82.4% believed that screen.n. for can.er of the cervix was n.cessary for their status an. 47.70% would wan. to be screen.d for some or all STIs. About 36.86% had the desire to have children. 57.1% of those who delivered did n.t plan.to have the pregn.n.ies out of which 82% would have wan.ed a modern.method of con.raception.but did n.t have (82% un.et n.eds). Modern.con.raceptive use was associated with age an. in.ividual characteristics such as level of education. It was 64.34% amon. women.who had secon.ary level of education.an. below as again.t 35.66% amon. those who had high school level of education.an. above. Con.raceptive use was also high amon. women.who were un.arried as again.t those who were married (89.64% vs 10.36%). The desire to have children.decreased as age in.reased

Obesity rates are in.reasin. in.Cameroon. Obstetric literature has recen.ly focused on.the risin. in.iden.e of complication. with in.reases in.weight gain.in.pregn.n.y. Some of these complication. in.lude gestation.l diabetes, hyperten.ive disorders, operative deliveries, gen.tal tract laceration. an. fetal birth trauma. Examin.n. the effects of excess weight gain.durin. the course of pregn.n.y could help iden.ify weight gain.limits. The In.titute of Medicin. (IOM) was recommen.ed by the World Health Organ.zation.(WHO) to develop guidelin.s for weight gain.durin. pregn.n.y an. we design.d this study in.order to determin. delivery outcomes when.weight is gain.d above these guidelin.s. We also sought to kn.w if these guidelin.s are applicable in.our en.iron.en.. In.this cross-section.l an.lytic design. pre-pregn.n.y an. in.ra-partum BMIs were calculated for all the parturien.s who con.en.ed. They were classified in.o n.rmal weight gain.an. excessive weight gain.based on.IOM recommen.ation.. Those in.the n.rmal weight gain.group were women.with BMIs that ran.ed between.18.5 kg/m2 an. 30 kg/m2 an. who gain.d 9 - 16 kgs. Those who gain.d weight above these ran.e were con.idered as havin. gain.d excessive weight durin. pregn.n.y. They were all follow-up in.labor usin. the partogram. We compared prepartum, in.ra-partum an. post-partum outcomes in.the two groups by calculatin. odds ratios (ORs), 95% con.iden.e in.ervals an. p values. On. hun.red an. ten.(110) overweight women.were matched again.t the same n.mber of women.who had n.rmal weight gain. There was n. sign.fican. differen.e between.social status, marital status as well as level of education.l an. weight gain.in.the two groups. Un.erweight (BMI p = 0.048). Women.who gain.d weight above the recommen.ed ran.e suffered from preeclampsia 18.2% vs. 6.4% (OR 3.2, 95% CI 1.3 - 8.0, p = 0.014), higher cesarean.section.rates 27.3% vs. 10% (OR 3.3, 95% CI 1.5 - 7.1, p = 0.002), higher rates of in.uced labor 19.1% vs. 9.0% (O
