Objective:To compare the safety of conventional transarterial chemoembolization(cTACE)vs drug-eluting bead TACE(DEB-TACE)in very early-and early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:Data of patients with early-and very early-stage HCC treated with cTACE or DEB-TACE were evaluated retrospectively in this study.A total of 40 patients were included,20 treated with cTACE and 20 with *** cTACE and DEB-TACE groups were comprised of 80%and 75%males,while there were 20%females in cTACE group and 25%in Deb-TACE group *** mean age of patients in cTACE group was 57.43+5.6 years,while it was 56.4+5.5 years in DEB-TACE *** patients had liver status of Child–Pugh Class A and a score≤7 in Child-Pugh class type B in very early-(stage 0)or early-phase(stage A)stages according to the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC)***:The Child-Pugh class degradation in the cTACE group was slightly higher than that in the DEB-TACE *** complications like peritumoral parenchymal ischemia were observed in 4 patients in the cTACE group and 5 in the DEB-TACE *** bile duct dilation was seen in 2 patients in the cTACE group and 6 in the DEB-TACE *** significant variation in serious complications between the two groups was established in localized bile duct *** minor complications noted were liver failure,liver abscess,liver infarction,acute cholecystitis,biliary tree necrosis,and ***,no substantial variation in tumor response between the groups was reported immediately and 1-year post-procedural *** rate to other treatment modalities such as surgical resection,radiofrequency ablation(RFA),or swap between cTACE and DEB-TACE was substantially higher in the DEB-TACE group(40%)than in the cTACE group(10%)at the 1-year completion period of the ***:In terms of tumor response,the DEB-TACE group showed a better response,to some extent,as an initial therapy for HCC in the early stage

Long‐time target tracking algorithm based on re‐detection multi‐feature fusion

This paper considers the problem of long-term target tracking in complex scenes when tracking failures are unavoidable due to illumination change,target deformation,scale change,motion blur,and other *** specifically,a target tracking algorithm,called re-detection multi-feature fusion,is proposed based on the fusion of scale-adaptive kernel correlation filtering and *** target tracking algorithm trains three kernel correlation filters based on the histogram of oriented gradients,colour name,and local binary pattern features and then obtains the fusion weight of response graphs corresponding to different features based on average peak correlation energy criterion and uses weighted average to complete the position estimation of the tracked *** order to deal with the problem that the target is occluded and disappears in the tracking process,a random fern classifier is trained to perform re-detection when the target is *** comparing the OTB-50 target tracking dataset,the experimental results show that the proposed tracker can track the target well in the occlusion attribute video sequence in the OTB-100 test dataset and has a certain improvement in tracking accuracy and success rate compared with the traditional correlation filter tracker.

Selective Cytotoxicity and Apoptogenic Activity of Hibiscus Sabdariffa Aqueous Extract Against MCF-7 Human Breast Cancer Cell Line

Background: Herbal compounds are attractive anticancer candidates due to their low toxicity. Pervious studies have demonstrated that Hibiscus sabdariffa is promising as an anticancer agent against several cancer types;however, its potential therapeutic role in breast cancer remains to be investigated. Materials and Methods: In the present study, the cytotoxic effects of Hibiscus sabdariffa aqueous extract (HSE) on a human breast adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF-7) and fetal foreskin fibroblast (HFFF) were investigated. Different concentrations of water extract of calyces were added and the percentage of cell survival was determined after 24, 48, and 72 hours using an MTT assay. Apoptosis induction was assessed by DNA fragmentation. Results: At the concentration of 0.5 mg/ml of the extract and following 72 hours of incubation, the number of viable MCF-7 cells was less than 50%. The extract was not cytotoxic against normal HFFF cells in all tested concentrations. Also, HSE induced apoptosis only in MCF-7 cells. Conclusions: These results suggest that HSE inhibits the growth of MCF-7 cells selectively in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. As this herbal substance has been shown to be nontoxic at very high doses in experimental animals, it might be a good anticancer drug candidate for breast cancer treatment.

Optical features of a semiconductor–dielectric photonic crystal are studied theoretically. Alternating layers of micrometer sized SiO2/In Sb slabs are considered as building blocks of the proposed ideal crystal. By inserting additional layers and disrupting the regularity, two more defective crystals are also proposed. Photonic band structure of the ideal crystal and its dependence on the structural parameters are explored at the first step. Transmittance of the defective crystals and its changes with the thicknesses of the layers are studied. After extracting the optimum values for the thicknesses of the unit cells of the crystals, the optical response of the proposed structures at different temperatures and incident angles are investigated. Changes of the defect layers’ induced mode(s) are discussed by taking into consideration of the temperature dependence of the In Sb layer permittivity. The results clearly reflect the high potential of the proposed crystals to be used at high temperature terahertz technology as a promising alternative to their electronic counterparts.

Acid sulfate soils are normally not suitable for crop production unless they are appropriately ameliorated. An experiment was conducted in a glasshouse to enhance the growth of rice, variety MR219, planted on an acid sulfate soil using various soil *** soil was collected from Semerak, Kelantan, Malaysia. Ground magnesium limestone(GML), bio-fertilizer, and basalt(each 4t ha-1) were added either alone or in combinations into the soil in pots 15 d before transplanting. Nitrogen, P and potash were applied at 150, 30, and 60 kg ha-1, respectively. Three seven-day-old rice seedlings were transplanted into each pot. The soil had a p H of 3.8 and contained organic C of 21 g kg-1, N of 1.2 g kg-1, available P of 192 mg kg-1, exchangeable K of 0.05 cmol c kg-1,and exchangeable Al of 4.30 cmol c kg-1, with low amounts of exchangeable Ca and Mg(0.60 and 0.70 cmol c kg-1). Bio-fertilizer treatment in combination with GML resulted in the highest p H of 5.4. The presence of high Al or Fe concentrations in the control soil without amendment severely affected the growth of rice. At 60 d of growth, higher plant heights, tiller numbers and leaf chlorophyll contents were obtained when the bio-fertilizer was applied individually or in combination with GML compared to the control. The presence of beneficial bacteria in bio-fertilizer might produce phytohormones and organic acids that could enhance plant growth and subsequently increase nutrient uptake by rice. Hence, it can be concluded that addition of bio-fertilizer and GML improved rice growth by increasing soil p H which consequently eliminated Al and/or Fe toxicity prevalent in the acid sulfate soil.

This article discusses Islamic Banking System and its mode of leasing in the light of the objectives of Shari＇ah. It explores that the objectives behind the introduction of Islamic finance and banking system were the elimination of capitalist banking interest, exploitation of poor segment of the society and the establishment of an economic system which may lead to sustain a balance economic order and social justice. In this context, it intends to analyze the mode of leasing provided by Islamic Banking system in the light of the objectives of Shari＇ah and discloses that although Islamic Banking system is based on the principle of mudarbah, musharkah and Ijarah and deals with the customers in that context, yet apparently, the effects of these transactions are not much different from capitalist modes due to same consequences and effects of these transactions. It thus, provides a comparative analysis of the issue, i.e., mode of leasing at both Islamic and capitalist Banks. It argues that a common man can not avail Islamic financing/leasing if he lacks financial resources. If a poor person tries to purchase something by way of ijarah through Islamic Banking finance, he does not find any difference in the payment of the total cost between capitalist mode of leasing and Islamic mode of ijarah. Hence, this article concludes that although Islamic financing achieved a remarkable development among the Muslims, yet there is a need to revise the policy and system of Islamic financing in the light of the objectives of Shari＇ah. It also concludes that the mode of leasing provided at Islamic Banks does not accomplish the objectives of its establishment which is public interest. At present, this system is unable to assist the poor segment of the society or to provide ease to them.
