The effective study of hybrid machining processes(HMPs),in terms of modeling and optimization has always been a challenge to the *** combined approach of Artifcial Neural Network(ANN)and Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II(NSGA-II)has attracted attention of researchers for modeling and optimization of the complex machining *** this paper,a hybrid machining process of Electrical Discharge Face Grinding(EDFG)and Diamond Face Grinding(DFG)named as Electrical Discharge Diamond face Grinding(EDDFG)have been studied using a hybrid methodology of *** this study,ANN has been used for modeling while NSGA-II is used to optimize the control parameters of the EDDFG *** observations of input-output relations,the experiments were conducted on a self developed face grinding setup,which is attached with the ram of EDM *** experimentation,the wheel speed,pulse current,pulse on-time and duty factor are taken as input parameters while output parameters are material removal rate(MRR)and average surface roughness(Ra).The results have shown that the developed ANN model is capable to predict the output responses within the acceptable limit for a given set of input *** has also been found that hybrid approach of ANN-NSGAII gives a set of optimal solutions for getting appropriate value of outputs with multiple objectives.

Revealing Genetic Relationship and Prospecting of Novel Donors Among Upland Rice Genotypes Using qDTY-Linked SSR Markers

A total of 17 simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers linked to QTLs(qDTYs) governing grain yield under reproductive stage(RS) drought stress were used to assess the genetic relationship and prospecting new donors for q DTYs among 32 popular upland rice genotypes. These SSR markers generated a total of 36 alleles with an average allele count of 2.1 per locus. Polymorphic information content value of the markers ranged from 0.376 to 0.662 with an average value of 0.484. The expected heterozyogosity ranged from 0.381 to 0.632. STRUCTURE analysis divided the 32 genotypes into three sub-populations. Subsequent phenotyping revealed that all the tolerant genotypes were grouped into one sub-population, whereas the moderately tolerant and susceptible genotypes were grouped into separate sub-populations. Phylogenetic tree constructed by the unweighted neighbour-joining method also divided the genotypes into three clusters. The grouping pattern of genotypes into the clusters was similar to that into the STRUCTURE analysis, on the basis of drought tolerance level. The average value of genetic dissimilarity coefficient among the genotypes was observed to be 0.486. Furthermore, by combining genotyping data with phenotyping data, 16 new donors for 6 qDTYs were identified.

The use of a lower sampling rate for designing a discrete-time state feedback-based controller fails to capture information of fast states in a two-time-scale system, while the use of a higher sampling rate increases the amount of computation considerably. Thus,the use of single-rate sampling for systems with slow and fast states has evident limitations. In this paper, multirate state feedback(MRSF) control for a linear time-invariant two-time-scale system is proposed. Here, multirate sampling refers to the sampling of slow and fast states at different sampling rates. Firstly, a block-triangular form of the original continuous two-time-scale system is constructed. Then, it is discretized with a smaller sampling period and feedback control is designed for the fast subsystem. Later, the system is block-diagonalized and equivalently represented into a system with a higher sampling period. Subsequently, feedback control is designed for the slow subsystem and overall MRSF control is derived. It is proved that the derived MRSF control stabilizes the full-order system. Being the transformed states of the original system, slow and fast states need to be estimated for the MRSF control ***, a sequential two-stage observer is formulated to estimate these states. Finally, the applicability of the design method is demonstrated with a numerical example and simulation results are compared with the single-rate sampling method. It is found that the proposed MRSF control and observer designs reduce computations without compromising closed-loop performance.

An economical route for the scalable production of carbon nanofibers （CNFs） on a sodium chloride support has been developed. CNFs have been synthesized by chemical vapor deposition （CVD） method by using metal formate as catalyst precursors at 680℃. Products were characterized by SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy and XRD method. By thermal analysis, the purity of the as grown products and purified products were determined. This method avoids calcination and reduction process which was employed in commercial catalysts such as metal oxide or nitrate. The problems such as detrimental effect, environmental and even cost have been overcome by using sodium chloride as support. The yield of CNFs up to 7800 wt.% relative to the nickel catalyst has been achieved in the growth time of 15 min. The advantage of this synthesis technique is the simplicity and use of easily available low cost precursors.

The effect of temperature on the rate of development of Xyleborus fornicatus （Eichh.） was determined by rearing individuals under a range of constant temperatures （15 - 32℃）. Rates of development changed in a linear fashion over a wide range of temperatures. Estimates of lower development thresholds were obtained for eggs （15.7±0.5℃）, larvae （15.8±0.8℃） and pupae （14.3±1.4℃） and the degree days （DD） for development were 70±4.4, 95±8.5 and 72±5.1 DD, respectively. Optimum temperature for development was around 30~C for all stages. Temperature fluctuation in cooler High Country areas （above 1400 m） with a mean temperature around 15℃ seems to be critical for the development of the pest, which may be responsible for the near absence of pest in those areas. Temperature fluctuations （18- 30℃） in the Mid Country region （600- 1200 m） favor the development of the pest compared to development under constant conditions. The altitudinal distribution of the shot-hole borer across tea growing areas in Sri Lanka is, therefore, mainly governed by temperature.

Super-resolution(SR)algorithms address the inabilities of poor imaging devices,there by producing high quality images with enhanced *** propose a new SR approach which produces sharp high resolution(HR)image using its low resolution(LR)*** proposed method uses geometric duality for spatially adapting covariance-based interpolation(CBI).To preserve edge information,a multi-stage cascaded joint bilateral filter(MSCJBF)is proposed as an intermediary *** edges are incorporated in the high frequency subbands obtained by the stationary wavelet transform(SWT),through nearest neighbor interpolation(NNI)*** to the NNI process,the high frequency subbands undergo two-lobed lanczos interpolation to achieve the desired resolution *** quantitative and qualitative analysis for various test images prove the superiority of our method.

Footwear have been evaluated mostly using commercially available products, while some researchers have used custom shoes. Hence, the understanding of the effects of various parameters of a shoe is quite limited. The footbed simulator invented in recent years allows a range of parameters to be studied in quiet standing. It can be used to evaluate perceived feel and center of pressure changes to changes in heel height, seat length, material, wedge angle and toe spring. This paper is meant to show the value of the footbed simulator in terms of research and the actual production of shoes. A study performed with two heel heights, three combinations of seat length and material and three wedge angles showed that the perceived feel is closely related to the center of pressure. The results also show the optimum footbed has a significantly different perceived feel. Thus, the footbed simulator is an ideal way to generate custom footwear designs.
