Prospective use of bacteriocinogenic Pediococcus pentosaceus as direct-fed microbial having methane reducing potential

Direct-fed microbials（DFM）, generally regarded as safe status, are successfully used in improving rumen ecology, gastro-intestinal health, feed efficiency, milk production and growth rate in ruminants. On the other hand, methanogenesis in rumen, which accounts for a significant loss of ruminant energy and increased greenhouse gas in environment, is of great concern, therefore, use of DFM for improving productivity without compromising the animal health and ecological sustainability is encouraged. The present study was conducted to investigate the methane reducing potential of bacteriocinogenic strain Pediococcus pentosaceus-34. Since, the culture showed no hemolysis on blood agar and DNase activity, hence, it was considered to be avirulent in nature, a prerequisite for any DFM. The culture also showed tolerance to pH 5.0 for 24 h with 0.5% organic acid mixture, whereas when given a shock for 2 h at different p H and organic acids concentrations, it showed growth at pH 3.0 and 4.0 with 0.1 and 1.0% organic acids, respectively, as having good animal probiotics attributes. The total gas production was significantly（P〈0.05） higher in live pedicoccal culture（LPc） and dead pedicoccal culture（DPc） both with wheat straw, when compared to the control. In sugarcane bagasse, gas production was significantly lower（P〈0.05） with LPc compared to the control and DPc both. Methane was reduced by the inclusion of LPc in sugarcane bagasse（0.07 mL cH4 mg–1 dry matter digestibility） with no effect on other rumen fermentation parameters. However, with wheat straw and LPc total gas, in vitro dry matter digestibility, total volatile fatty acids increased significantly but no reduction in methane production was observed in comparison to the control. Therefore, further research is warranted in this direction, if the bacteriocinogenic strains can be used as DFM for ruminants to improve the ruminant productivity.

Investigation of enhancement in planar fast neutron detector efficiency with stacked structure using Geant4

Geant4 based Monte carlo study has been carried out to assess the improvement in efficiency of the planar structure of Silicon carbide(Sic)-based semiconductor fast neutron detector with the stacked structure. A proton recoil detector was simulated, which consists of hydrogenous converter, i.e., high-density polyethylene(HDPE) for generating recoil protons by means of neutron elastic scattering(n, p) reaction and semiconductor material Sic, for generating a detectable electrical signal upon transport of recoil protons through it. Sic is considered in order to overcome the various factors associated with conventional Si-based devices such as operability in a harsh radiation environment, as often encountered in nuclear facilities. converter layer thickness is optimized by considering 10~9 neutron events of different monoenergetic neutron sources as well as ^(241)Am-Be neutron spectrum. It is found that the optimized thickness for neutron energy range of 1–10 MeV is ~400 μm. However, the efficiency of fast neutron detection is estimated to be only 0.112%,which is considered very low for meaningful and reliable detection of neutrons. To overcome this problem, a stacked juxtaposition of converter layer between Sic layers has been analyzed in order to achieve high efficiency. It is noted that a tenfold efficiency improvement has been obtained—1.04% for 10 layers stacked configuration vis-à-vis 0.112% of single converter layer detector. Further simulation of the stacked detector with respect to variable converter thickness has been performed to achieve the efficiency as high as ~3.85% with up to 50 stacks.

Structural Analysis of ^(23)O Through Single-Neutron Stripping Reaction

We have studied the single-neutron stripping reaction induced by ^23O on carbon target at beam energy of 72 MeV//A with a motive to analyze its ground state structure. The partial stripping cross sections as well as longitudinal momentum distribution of ^22O core have been calculated within the framework of the eikonal approximation approach. Several core-neutron spin coupling configurations, corresponding to J^π= 1/2 ＋ as ground state spin parity of ^23O, along with their suitable admixtures have been considered. The major outcome of the present work is that the s and d admixed configuration with a large contribution of s state seems to explain the longitudinal momentum distribution data more satisfactorily.

Study of structural, electrical, and photoluminescent properties of SrceO3 and Sr2ceO4

This article presents some new results on the class SLMα of functions that are analytic in the open unit disc U = {z ：｜z｜〈 1} satisfying the conditions that f（0） =0, f＇（0）= 1, and α（1＋zf＇＇（z）/f＇（z）＋（1-α）zf＇（z）/f（z）∈p（U）for all z ∈ U, where αis a real number and p（z）=1＋r^2z^2/1-Tz-T^2z^2（z∈ U）. The number T = （1 -√5）/2 is such that T^2 = 1 ＋ T. The class SFLMa introduced by J. Dziok, R.k. Raina, and J. Sokot [3, Appl. Math. comput. 218 （2011）, 996-1002] is closely related to the classes of starlike and convex functions. The article deals with several ideas and techniques used in geometric function theory and differential subordinations theory.

ceramic samples of(Bi_(1-x)Pb_(x))NbO_(4)(x=0,0.025,0.05,0.10,0.15,0.20)with 0.75 wt.%V2O5 addition sintered at 920℃,940℃ and 960℃ are *** is selected as a substitute for Bi^(3+)in BiNbO_(4) ceramics as it exists in two stable valence states of+2 and+4 and the average valency matches to that of Bi^(3+).The average Shannon radius(for octahedral coordination)of Pb^(2+)(1.19Å)and Pb^(4+)(0.775Å)cations is 0.9825Å,which is similar to that of Bi^(3+)ion(1.03Å).The dense(>94%)polycrystalline(Bi_(1-x)Pb_(x))NbO_(4) samples fabricated mostly reveal orthorhombic(Pnna)phase(α-BiNbO_(4),***.52)by powder *** of satellite Pb2Nb2O7 phase,the amount of which is increasing with increase in Pb content,is also *** microwave dielectric constant(ε'r)values of the niobates are found to increase from 42 to 71,whereas the quality factor(Qu.f)values are found to decrease from 5400 to 550 GHz with increasing substitution of *** compositions so synthesized are important as hardly there are any microwave dielectric ceramics available with 45<ε'r<75.

Application of RP-HPLc method in dissolution testing and statistical evaluation by NASSAM for simultaneous estimation of tertiary combined dosages forms

A dissolution method with robust high performance liquid chromatographic （HPLc） analysis for im- mediate release tablet formulation was developed and validated to meet the requirement as per Inter- national conference on Harmonization （IcH） and United States Food and Drug Administration （USFDA） guidelines. The method involved the use of Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB c18 column, and temperature was maintained at 30 ℃. After optimization, the mobile phase was selected as phosphate buffer （kH2PO4, 30 mM）： AcN （60：40, v/v） with pH 3.0, and retention time Rt was found as 3.24, 4.16, and 2.55 min for paracetamol （PcM）, chlorpheniramine maleate （cPM） and phenylephrine hydrochloride （PH） respec- tively at 265 nm and at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The relative standard deviation （%RSD） for 6 replicate measurements was found to be less than 2%. Furthermore net analyte signal standard addition method （NASSAM） with spectrophotometer was performed for standard and liquid oral suspension. On the basis of selectivity, sensitivity and accuracy analysis, it was confirmed that this novel method could be useful for simultaneous estimation of the given drug combinations. Two-way analysis of variance （ANOVA） was applied for evaluating the statistical difference between the assay results obtained via both NASSAM and RP-HPLc methods and ultimately no significant difference was found between both the methods. All the methods and results were acceptable and confirmed that the method was suitable for intended use.
