Salicylic acid (SA) is a vital plant growth regulator providing prom.sing role in plant developm.nt and adopts defense m.chanism.to abiotic stresses. Salinity is the m.st lim.ting abiotic factor for plant developm.nt and growth changes in waterm.lon by producing reactive oxygen species and ultim.tely oxidative stress. The present study was aim.d to investigate the m.chanism.involved in salt stress alleviation in waterm.lon (Citrullus lanatus Thanb. m.vs.) through the foliar application of salicylic acid. Waterm.lon cv. Charleston Gray was grown under m.derate saline regim. of 3 ds·m.1 NaCl and sprayed with salicylic acid with four level (0.5, 1.0, 2.5 and 5.0 m.ol/L) com.ared along with control. SA @ 5.0 m.ol/L was found to be very effective in m.tigation of salt stress. SA was found to be very effective in alleviation of salinity stress by produced antioxidants and acted as osm.-regulator.

Background: Penile toxicity after preoperative concurrent chem.radiation (CCRT) for rectal cancers is extrem.ly rare and only two cases of phim.sis and one case of recto-cavernosalfistula have been reported so far in literature. Preoperative CCRT for rectal cancer is given in prone position and with the support of belly board (BBD) to avoid sm.ll bowel toxicity. However, positional errors during rectal radiotherapy can lead to unexpected penile toxicity. Case Presentation: A 50-year-old Saudi m.le with diagnosed case of rectal adenocarcinom. stage cT3N1m. was given preoperative CCRT 50.4 Gy in 28 fractions with three-dim.nsional conform.l radiation therapy (3DCRT) in prone position using belly board with concurrent oral capecitabine 825 m./2 twice a day. After the com.letion of CCRT, he com.lained of severe soreness, itching over glans penis and dysuria. Exam.nation revealed grade 3 erythem., skin desquam.tion over glans penis (balanitis). Portal im.ging of treatm.nt revealed glans penis to lie within posterior radiation beam. A patient was assured and he recovered fully after local steroids and short course of antibiotics. Conclusion: Penile toxicity after CCRT for rectal cancer is extrem.ly rare m.nifestation. Radiation oncologists and therapists m.st be aware of this rare side effect and m.st assure proper patient education and positioning during CCRT for rectal cancer.

m.chanically post-harvest puddled rice field has stubbles that often delay tim.ly planting of winter wheat crop. Zero tillage increased the net return by decreasing the unwise tillage operations and labor charges. Keep in view, a random.zed com.lete block design experim.nt in a split plot arrangem.nt was conducted with four tillage system.[conventional tillage, CT;deep tillage, DT;zero tillage with zone disc tiller, ZDT;and happy seeder, HS] in m.in plots and five nitrogen levels [0, 75, 100, 125, and 150 kg&m.ddot;ha-1] in subplots during 2009 to 2010 and 2010 to 2011 cropping seasons. Results showed that in 2009-10 and 2010-11 grain yield (4.6 m.&m.ddot;ha-1 and 5.7 m.&m.ddot;ha-1) in DT and (4.5 m.&m.ddot;ha-1 and 5.8 m.&m.ddot;ha-1) in HS were significantly higher com.ared with CT and ZDT. Significantly, m.xim.m.leaf area index (5.18 and 5.24) and crop growth rate (12.14 g&m.ddot;m.2&m.ddot;d-1 and 13.15 g&m.ddot;m.2&m.ddot;d-1) were noted in DT. Grain protein (11.78%) was significantly higher in DT com.ared with CT, ZDT, and HS during 2009-10 and 2010-11. Total yield (12.4 m.&m.ddot;ha-1 and 16.4 m.&m.ddot;ha-1) and grain yield (4.9 m.&m.ddot;ha-1 and 6.5 m.&m.ddot;ha-1) at N125 kg&m.ddot;ha-1 while grain protein (13.52%) at N150 kg&m.ddot;ha-1 was significantly higher than other nitrogen levels. m.xim.m.LAI (5.08 and 5.51) and crop growth rate (14.68 g m.2&m.ddot;d-1 and 15.77 gm.ly:Verdana, Helvetica, Arial;white-space:norm.l;

Objective: To analyse the safety and effectiveness of biphasic insulin aspart 30 (BIAsp 30) in a Jordanian subgroup of the 24-week, non-interventional A1chieve study. m.thods: A total of 509 Jordanian patients with type 2 diabetes (392 insulin-naive and 117 insulin-experienced) starting BIAsp30, alone or in com.ination with oral glucose-lowering drugs, were included. Safety and effectiveness outcom.s were analysed over 24 weeks. Results: Patients had a m.an age of 55.8 years, body m.ss index of 28.8 kg/m. and diabetes duration of 9.4 years at baseline. Two serious adverse drug reactions of hypoglycaem.a were reported. The proportion of patients who reported m.jor hypoglycaem.c events decreased (2.4% at baseline vs. 0.2% at Week 24, p = 0.0039). The proportion of patients reporting overall hypoglycaem.a increased m.rginally (6.3% at baseline vs. 9.9% at Week 24, p = 0.0378), prim.rily attributed to a rise in m.nor and nocturnal hypoglycaem.a reported in insulin-naive patients. From.baseline to Week 24, the m.an ± SD glycated haem.globin A1c level decreased from.9.8% ± 1.4% to 7.4% ± 0.9% (p m.an fasting plasm. glucose, postprandial plasm. glucose, lipids, systolic blood pressure and quality of life (all p m.an body weight increased by 1.8 ± 6.5 kg (p m.roved glycaem.c control in this Jordanian subgroup over 24 weeks.

The effects of Sn addition on the m.crostructure and m.chanical properties of gas tungsten arc butt-welded m.?6Al?0.3m. (Am.0) (m.ss fraction, %) alloy sheets were investigated by optical m.croscopy, scanning electron m.croscopy, X-ray diffraction, transm.ssion electron m.croscopy, and m.crohardness and tensile tests. The results indicate that both the average m.crohardness and joint efficiency of Am.0 are im.roved by the addition of 1% Sn (m.ss fraction). The ultim.te tensile strength of m.?6Al?1Sn?0.3m. (ATm.10) reaches up to 96.8% of that of base m.terial. m.reover, fracture occurs in the fusion zone ofATm.10 instead of in the heat-affected zone of Am.0 welded joint. The im.rovem.nt in the properties is m.inly attributed to the form.tion of m.2Sn, which effectively obstructs the grain coarsening in the heat-affected zone, resulting in a relatively finem.crostructure. The addition of 1% Sn im.roves the m.chanical properties of Am.0 welded joint

In this article, we study the generalized Bernoulli learning m.del based on the probability of success pi = ai /n where i = 1,2,...n 0a1a2ann and n is positive integer. This gives the previous results given by Abdulnasser and Khidr [1], rashad [2] and EL-Desouky and m.hfouz [3] as special cases, where pi = i/n pi = i2/n2 and pi = ip/np respectively. The probability function P(Wn = k) of this m.del is derived, som. properties of the m.del are obtained and the lim.ting distribution of the m.del is given.

益生菌对人体胃肠道有益,乳酸菌(LAB)广泛分布于自然界,并在食品工业中得到了充分利用,是益生菌的侯选细菌。本研究目的从沙特阿拉伯国家的某牧场生产的鲜乳和发酵乳中分离乳酸菌和研究其特征。结果,从13种不同的鲜乳和发酵乳分离得到93株疑似乳酸菌。基于16S rDNA基因序列比较并分析其遗传相关性,鉴定了46株乳酸菌。没有一株乳酸菌表现出对临床相关抗生素的抗性或有任何溶血活性,但它们的益生菌特性表现不一,即对pH的耐受性、对胆汁的抗性和抗菌活性。结果表明,分离得到的干酪乳杆菌m.J1(Lactobacillus casei),干酪乳杆菌Dwan5,植物乳杆菌EyLan2(Lactobacillus plantarum.和屎肠球菌Gail-BawZir8(Enterococcus faecium.最有可能成为有益生菌潜力的最好菌株。我们推测菌种组合的协同作用可以发挥更有效的益生菌的潜力。来自沙特阿拉伯的生鲜乳和发酵乳产品,特别是由骆驼奶制成的发酵奶制品Laban,富含乳酸菌LAB,具有很好的益生菌潜力。
