This pa.er ha. reported the beneficia.ion a.d cha.a.teriza.ion of gold from Ita.unmodi gold ore in a.a.umosa.West LGa.in the Sta.e of Osun Nigeria.using cya.ide solution obta.ned from ca.sa.a.a.d commercia.ly a.a.la.le sodium cya.ide a.a.a. gra.e. Cya.ide solution extra.ted from ca.sa.a.va.iety TMS 30572 lea.es obta.ned from Oba.emi a.olowo University (O.a.U) Resea.ch a.d Tea.hing Fa.m wa. discovered to ha.e the highest free cya.ide (CN-) a.ong the ten different ca.sa.a.va.ieties eva.ua.ed. The sa.ples were exposed to va.ied concentra.ions from 0.25% to 2.00% CN a. interva.s of 0.25% CN from cya.ide solution obta.ned from ca.sa.a.a.d commercia.ly a.a.la.le sodium cya.ide a.a.a. gra.e. The result showed tha. a.ter 24 hours of cya.ida.ion a.d concentra.ion of 2% CN- on 10 g gold ore concentra.e, the a.a.a. gra.e sodium cya.ide yielded 0.123 g of gold while the ca.sa.a.ba.ed cya.ide yielded 0.098 g. The cya.ida.ion performa.ce of a.a.a. gra.e sodium cya.ide is grea.er tha. ca.sa.a.ba.ed cya.ide by a.difference of 0.25%.

Brea.t ca.cer is one of the lea.ing disea.es tha. a.fect women’s lives. It a.fects their lives in so ma.y wa.s by denying them the required sta.da.d of hea.th needed to ca.ry out a.l of their da.ly a.tivities for some da.s, weeks, months or yea.s before eventua.ly ca.sing dea.h. This resea.ch estima.es the surviva. ra.e of brea.t ca.cer pa.ients a.d investiga.es the effects of sta.e of tumor, gender, a.e, ethnic group, occupa.ion, ma.ita. sta.us a.d type of ca.cer upon the surviva. of pa.ients. Da.a.used for the study were extra.ted from the ca.e file of pa.ients in the Ra.ia.ion Oncology Depa.tment, University College Hospita., Iba.a. using a.well-structured pro forma.in which 74 observa.ions were censored a.d 30 events occurred. The Ka.la.-Meier estima.or wa. used to estima.e the overa.l surviva. proba.ility of brea.t ca.cer pa.ients following their recruitment into the study a.d determine the mea. a.d media. surviva. times of brea.t ca.cer pa.ients following their time of recruitment into the study. Since there a.e different groups with respect to the sta.es of tumor a. the time of dia.nosis, the log-ra.k test wa. used to compa.e the surviva. curve of the sta.es of tumor with considering p-va.ues below 0.05 a. sta.istica.ly significa.t. Multiva.ia.e Cox regression wa. used to investiga.e the effects of some va.ia.les on the surviva. of pa.ients. The overa.l cumula.ive surviva. proba.ility obta.ned is 0.175 (17.5%). The overa.l estima.ed mea. time until dea.h is 28.751 weeks while the media. time between a.mission a.d dea.h is 23 weeks. a. the p-va.ue (0.000032) of the log-ra.k test for compa.ing sta.es of tumor is less tha. 0.05, it is concluded tha. there is significa.t evidence of a.difference in surviva. times for the sta.es of tumor. The surviva. function plot for the sta.es of tumor shows tha. pa.ients with sta.e III tumor a.e less likely to survive. From the estima.ed mea. time until dea.h for the sta.es of tumor, it wa. deduced tha. sta.e I tumor pa.ients

Objective: This is to determine the pla.ma.lipid profile sta.us of pa.ients dia.nosed with gesta.iona. dia.etes mellitus. Methodology: Seventy-nine pregna.t women between gesta.iona. a.e of 24 a.d 28 weeks out of which 23 a.d 16 were dia.nosed of ha.ing GDM using Ia.a.SG a.d WHO guidelines respectively were recruited into the study. Pla.ma.lipid profile wa. determined a.ong the study groups using sta.da.d la.ora.ory techniques. Results: Higher numbers of women were dia.nosed with GDM using Ia.Da.G criteria.tha. when WHO criteria.were used. Pla.ma.lipid profile showed no significa.t difference between women with GDM a.d Non-GDM irrespective of guidelines used in the dia.nosis of GDM. Conclusion: Pregna.cy a.d Gesta.iona. Dia.etes Mellitus ma. ha.e influence on lipid meta.olism but not likely in the second trimester of pregna.cy a. observed in our study.

Ba.kground: There is genera.ly a.la.k of good hea.th-seeking pra.tices a.ong hea.th professiona.s due to a.va.iety of fa.tors, including the intensity of the medica. pra.tice itself. Doctors a.d nurses a.e perceived to ha.e a.good knowledge of idea. hea.th-seeking beha.iors a.d a. such, it is importa.t to determine the level of their a.a.eness a.d estima.e whether this knowledge is put into pra.tice. This study, therefore, a.med to determine the level of a.a.eness a.d pra.tices of proper hea.th-seeking beha.ior a.d to identify the fa.tors responsible for self-medica.ion a.ong doctors a.d nurses in a.tertia.y hospita. in Nigeria. Methodology: a.cross-sectiona. descriptive study wa. conducted between a.ril a.d ma. 2018 a.ong 106 doctors a.d 164 nurses in a.tertia.y hea.th fa.ility in Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti Sta.e, Southwestern Nigeria. a.simple ra.dom sa.pling technique by ba.loting wa. performed from the list of doctors a.d nurses in the hospita. to select doctors a.d nurses tha. pa.ticipa.ed in the study. a.pretested semi-structured self-a.ministered questionna.re wa. designed a.d used to collect da.a. The da.a.were entered into the computer softwa.e a.d a.a.yzed using SPSS version 20. P ≤ 0.05 wa. ta.en a. significa.t. Result: Out of 106 doctors a.d 164 nurses recruited, only 102 doctors a.d 143 nurses filled the questionna.re completely a.d returned for a.a.ysis. One hundred a.d four respondents (42.4%) fa.l within the a.es of 31 - 40 yea.s with a.ma.e to fema.e ra.io of 1:1.23. a.a.eness of proper hea.th seeking beha.ior a.ong both doctors a.d nurses wa. high a.ong the two groups with no sta.istica.ly significa.t difference between them. Twenty-nine (28.0%) doctors compa.ed with thirty-four (23.8%) nurses go for a.regula. medica. check-up with no sta.istica.ly significa.t difference between the two groups (p = 0.411).
