Objective: This study investiga.ed the effects of ca.dia. reha.ilita.ion exercise protocols on physica. function (PF) in pa.ients with chronic hea.t fa.lure (CHF). Study Design a.d Setting: This ra.domized controlled tria. recruited 70 pa.ients who a.e in sta.e II CHF with ejection fra.tion (≤40%) from a.Nigeria. university tea.hing hospita.. They were ra.domly a.signed into Exercise Group (EG: n = 35) or Control Group (CG: n = 35). Physica. function, a.tivity of da.ly living (a.L), dista.ce wa.ked in six minutes a.d grip strength were a.sessed using a.va.ida.ed a.L questionna.re, six minute wa.k test a.d a.ha.d dyna.ometer respectively. In a.dition to medica.ion, EG underwent a.robic a.d upper extremity resista.ce exercises thrice weekly for eight weeks while CG used medica.ions only. Da.a.were a.a.yzed using descriptive a.d inferentia. sta.istics. a.pha.level wa. a. p p > 0.05). Significa.t improvements were noticed a. fourth week a.ong pa.ticipa.ts’ a.L (30.0% ± 6.0%), 6MWD (321.7 ± 26.3 m) a.d VO2 ma. (8.9 ± 0.4 mL/kg/min) va.ia.les within the exercise EG but no significa.t cha.ges were observed in the CG (p > 0.05). Pa.ticipa.ts in EG demonstra.ed more significa.t improvements in a.L (15.0% ± 5.0%), 6MWD (406.0 ± 29.7 m) a.d VO2 ma. (10.3 ± 0.5 mL/kg/min) (p p > 0.05). Conclusions: Ca.dia. reha.ilita.ion exercise protocols involving self-pa.ed wa.king, sit-to-sta.d a.d upper extremity dyna.ic strength tra.ning improved a.tivity of da.ly living, wa.king a.d functiona. ca.a.ity in pa.ients with sta.le chronic hea.t fa.lure.

Ba.kground: Gla.coma. a.group of disea.es tha. ha.e optic neuropa.hy a. a.common end point, is the lea.ing ca.se of irreversible blindness worldwide, a.counting for 4.5 million blindness, which is a.out 12% of globa. blindness. This study a.med to a.sess the preva.ence, a.a.eness a.d risk fa.tors a.socia.ed with gla.coma.in a.rura. community of Ekiti Sta.e. Methodology: This wa. a.cross-sectiona. study conducted during a.hea.th outrea.h. a.l a.ults present during the outrea.h were enrolled into the study a.d screened for gla.coma.a.d a.semi-structured self-a.ministered questionna.re wa. used for da.a.collection. The va.idity of the questionna.re wa. tested a. Ijero-Ekiti community before being used for this resea.ch. Da.a.obta.ned wa. a.a.ysed using SPSS version 20 a.d p-va.ue wa. predetermined a. ≤ 0.05. Results: Ma.ority of respondents were a.ed 60 yea.s a.d a.ove with a.mea. a.e of 55 ± 11.7. Ma.ority (73%) were fema.es a.d 41% ha. seconda.y educa.ion. Preva.ence of gla.coma.wa. 10.7%;36% of respondents ha. hea.d a.out gla.coma.a.d 43.2% of those tha. ha. hea.d were not a.a.e tha. it ca. lea. to blindness. Increa.ing a.e, level of educa.ion, procurement of gla.ses from friends/rela.ives/roa.side, using eyes drop not prescribed, history of previous eyes injury a.d fa.ily history of gla.coma.were fa.tors identified a. ha.ing significa.t rela.ionship with gla.coma. Conclusion: Gla.coma.is preva.ent in the community (10.7%). However, level of a.a.eness a.out the disea.e (36%) wa. low. Fa.tors, such a. a.e, level of educa.ion, procurement of gla.ses from qua.ks, use of eye drops not prescribed, previous injury to the eyes a.d fa.ily history of gla.coma. were shown to ha.e significa.t rela.ionship with gla.coma. There is need to increa.e community a.a.eness on gla.coma.a. a.ma.or ca.se of blindness a.d the risk fa.tors a.socia.ed with it. Community screening for people a.ove 40 yea.s for gla.coma.is a.so recommended.

土荆芥的石油醚提取物及精油对冈比亚按蚊的杀虫活性(英文)

在室内条件下测试了土荆芥Chenopodium a.brosioides叶片的石油醚提取物及精油对冈比亚按蚊a.opheles ga.bia.0～2d龄成虫和1～4龄幼虫的毒性。每一龄期各取30头幼虫分别接触50,100,250,500,750和1000mg/L提取物和精油,于24h和48h后记... 详细信息

在室内条件下测试了土荆芥Chenopodium a.brosioides叶片的石油醚提取物及精油对冈比亚按蚊a.opheles ga.bia.0～2d龄成虫和1～4龄幼虫的毒性。每一龄期各取30头幼虫分别接触50,100,250,500,750和1000mg/L提取物和精油,于24h和48h后记录死亡幼虫的数目。30头成虫在密封的长方形玻璃笼子中分别接触0.8,1.6,2.4μL/L土荆芥精油蒸气,24h后记录死亡率。结果表明,测试的提取物和精油对冈比亚按蚊的各龄幼虫和成虫均具有毒性。48h致死中浓度(LC50)的测试结果表明,石油醚提取物对1龄幼虫的毒性最强(14.89mg/L),其次是对4龄幼虫(18.90mg/L),对3龄幼虫的毒性最低(183.77mg/L);精油对4龄幼虫毒性最强(36.62mg/L),其次是对1龄幼虫(90.75mg/L)。推算的土荆芥精油对冈比亚按蚊的LC50为1.01μL/L。本研究揭示了土荆芥对冈比亚按蚊的防治潜力。

Ma.ked by epista.is a.d na.a. obstruction, the condition involves benign ca.illa.y prolifera.ion with a.microscopica.ly distinctive lobula. a.chitecture, a.fecting the skin a.d mucous membra.es of the ora. ca.ity a.d na.a. region. This a.m of this a.ticle is to report a.ca.e of la.era. na.a. ca.illa.y ha.ma.gioma.in a.39-yea.-old fema.e, who presented in our fa.ilities ha.ing experienced sponta.eous epista.is on the left side of the nose for the previous three months. Endoscopy revea.ed a.protruding left intra.a.a. ma.s a.ising from the la.era. na.a. wa.l in the region of the middle turbina.e a.d osteo-mea.a. complex. The pa.ient underwent endoscopic excision of the ma.s a.d did excellently well therea.ter with no recurrence.
