Salinity stress is a major threat to global food production and its intensity is continuously increasing because of anthropogenic *** is a staple food and a source of carbohydrates and calories for the majority of people across the ***,wheat productivity is adversely affected by salt stress,which is associated with a reduction in germination,growth,altered reproductive behavior and enzymatic activity,disrupted photosynthesis,hormonal imbalance,oxidative stress,and yield ***,a better understanding of wheat(plant)behavior to salinity stress has essential implications to devise counter and alleviation measures to cope with salt *** approaches including the selection of suitable cultivars,conventional breeding,and molecular techniques can be used for facing salt stress ***,these techniques are tedious,costly,and *** practices are still helpful to improve the wheat performance under salinity *** of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi,plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria,and exogenous application of phytohormones,seed priming,and nutrient management are important tools to improve wheat performance under salinity *** this paper,we discussed the effect of salinity stress on the wheat crop,possible mechanisms to deal with salinity stress,and management options to improve wheat performance under salinity conditions.

Background:Education institutions promptly implemented a set of steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among international Chinese students,such as restrictive physical exercise,mask wear,daily health reporting,*** of such behavioral change campaigns largely depends on awareness building,satisfaction and trust on the *** purpose of this current study is to assess the preventive,supportive and awareness-building steps taken during the COVID-19 pandemic for international students in China,that will be useful for planning such a behavioral change campaign in the potential pandemic situation in other parts of the ***:We conducted an online-based e-questionnaire survey among 467 international students in China through *** data collection duration was from February 20,2020 to March 10,2020 and we focused on their level of awareness,satisfaction,and trust in authorities regarding pandemic *** bivariate statistics was used to describe the background characteristics of the respondents along with adoption of the partial least squares-structural equation modeling(PLS-SEM)as the final model to demonstrate the relationship between the ***:In our study,the leading group of the respondents were within 31 to 35 years’age group(39.82%),male(61.88%),living single(58.24%)and doctoral level students(39.8%).The preventive and supportive measures taken by students and/or provided by the respective institution or authorities were positively related to students’satisfaction and had an acceptable strength(β=0.611,t=9.679,p<0.001).The trust gained in authorities also showed an acceptable strength(β=0.381,t=5.653,p<0.001)with a positive ***,the personnel awareness building related to both students’satisfaction(β=0.295,t=2.719,p<0.001)and trust gain(β=0.131,t=1.986,p<0.05)in authorities had a positive and acceptable ***,our study clearly demonstrates the great impact of preventive and supportive measure

Two-Stent Strategy for Bifurcation Lesions in Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty: Real-World Evidence

Background: Bifurcation lesions pose a high risk for adverse events after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Evidence supporting the benefits of the two-stent strategy (2SS) for treating coronary bifurcation lesions in India is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of various 2SSs for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty for bifurcation lesions in India. Materials and Methods: This retrospective, observational, multicentric, real-world study included 64 patients over 8 years. Data on demographics, medical history, PCI procedures, and outcomes were recorded. Descriptive statistics were computed using the SPSS software. Results: Patients (n = 64) had an average age of 65.3 ± 11.1 years, with 78.1% males. Acute coronary syndrome was reported in 18.8%, chronic stable angina in 40.6%, and unstable angina in 34.4% of participants. Two-vessel disease was observed in 98.4% of patients, and 99.4% had true bifurcation lesions. The commonly involved vessels were the left anterior descending artery (50%), left circumflex coronary artery (34.4%), and first diagonal artery (43.8%). Mean percent diameter stenosis was 87.2% ± 10.1%. The mean number of stents used was 2.00 ± 0.34. The 2SS techniques included the T and small protrusion (TAP) (39.1%), double kissing (DK) crush (18.8%), and the culotte techniques (14.1%). Procedural and angiographic success rate was 92.18%. Major adverse cardiovascular events at 1-year follow-up occurred in 7.8% of cases. Conclusion: The 2SS for bifurcation lesions showed favorable in-hospital and follow-up outcomes. Findings can serve as a resource for bifurcation angioplasty in India. Larger real-world studies with robust methodology are needed to validate these results.

Time-resolved mapping of lattice dynamics in real-and momentum-space is essential to better understand several ubiquitous phenomena such as heat transport,displacive phase transition,thermal conductivity,and many *** this regard,time-resolved diffraction and microscopy methods are employed to image the induced lattice dynamics within a pump–probe *** this work,we demonstrate that inelastic scattering methods,with the aid of theoretical simulation,are competent to provide similar information as one could obtain from the time-resolved diffraction and imaging *** illustrate the robustness of the proposed method,our simulated result of lattice dynamics in germanium is in excellent agreement with the time-resolved x-ray diffuse scattering measurement performed using x-ray free-electron *** a given inelastic scattering data in energy and momentum space,the proposed method is useful to image in-situ lattice dynamics under different environmental conditions of temperature,pressure,and magnetic ***,the technique will profoundly impact where time-resolved diffraction within the pump–probe setup is not feasible,for instance,in inelastic neutron scattering.

A middle aged, non-addict male presented with right upper abdominal pain and swelling with respiratory distress. Examination revealed central cyanosis, bipedal pitting edema with prominent epigastric and back veins. Liver was enlarged, tender, spanned 20 cm without any splenomegaly or ascites. Other systems were clinically normal. Laboratory investigations showed polymorphonuclear leucocytosis with slightly deranged liver function. Abdominal ultrasonography showed an abscess in the right lobe of the liver with compressed inferior vena cava （IVC）, middle and left hepatic veins. Arterial blood gas （ABG） documented hypoxia with orthodeoxia and air-contrast echocardiography was suggestive of an intrapulmonary shunt. A diagnosis of hepato-pulmonary syndrome （HPS） was made with near normal liver function secondary to amebic liver abscess. It reversed completely following successful treatment of the liver abscess.

Evaluation of Physicochemical Properties and Antioxidant Activity of Wheat-Red Kidney Bean Biscuits

This research was aimed to study the physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of biscuits fortified with red kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) powder. Proximate compositions, total phenol content, antioxidant activity, and functional properties of red kidney bean (RKB) powder were studied before and after the incorporation of red kidney bean in the biscuits. The bean powder was mixed with wheat flour at a level of 0% as control, 10%, 20%, and 30% during dough preparation. Results revealed that RKB powder is a rich source of protein (26.25%) together with carbohydrate (59.7%), fat (2.4%), and ash (3.27%). The total phenolic content of bean powder was 14.15 mg GAE/g. Kidney bean powder showed good functional properties including water absorption capacity (149.7%), oil holding capacity (99.54%), swelling capacity (4.6%), and bulk density of 0.74 g/ml. After increasing the percentage of RKB with control, there were significant increases (p < 0.05) in the levels of protein, moisture, ash, fat, while carbohydrate content and total gross energy decreased significantly. Investigation of total phenolic content showed the increasing trend with the higher RKB fortification, which amounted to 10.31 mg GAE/g for control and 12.50 mg GAE/g for 30% RKB. DPPH radical scavenging activity was investigated for all the samples at five different concentrations. As there was an increase in the percentage of RKB and concentration of the samples, the antioxidant activity also increased significantly (p < 0.05), where IC50 value decreased from 0.0228 mg/ml for control to 0.0289 mg/ml for 10% RKB, followed by 20% and 30% RKB, respectively. The effects of variable electrical conductivity and radiation absorption on high-speed MHD (Magnetohydrodynamics) free convective flow past an exponential accelerated inclined plate with higher order chemical reaction have been investigated. The electrical conductivity has been considered as a function of temperature. The chemical reaction has also been considered as the higher order. The usual transformations have been used to obtain the coupled dimensionless momentum, energy and concentration equations. Then the obtained non-dimensional partial differential equations have been solved numerically by explicit finite difference method. For excellent accuracy, stability and convergence test have been carried out. A computer program Compaq Visual FORTRAN 6.6a has been used to calculate the numerical results. The obtained numerical results concerned with the fluid velocity, temperature, concentration, concerned with skin friction, Nusselt number, Sherwood number, streamlines and isotherms are imprinted graphically by Tecplot and discussed in details. It is noticed that increasing of magnetic parameter increases the temperature and decreases the velocity, skin friction and Nusselt number. It is also observed that the temperature profile is increasing with the increasing values of Dufour number. However, the order of the chemical reaction increases the concentration profile.

In Vitro Antioxidant and Radio Protective Activities of Lycopene from Tomato Extract against Radiation—Induced DNA Aberration

Background: The accumulation of free radicals is linked to a number of diseases. Free radicals can be scavenged by antioxidants and reduce their harmful effects. It is therefore essential to look for naturally occurring antioxidants that come from plants, as synthetic antioxidants are toxic, carcinogenic and problematic for the environment. Lycopene is one of the carotenoids, a pigment that dissolves in fat and has antioxidant properties. Materials and Methods: The antioxidant and free radical scavenging activity were assessed using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The impact of lycopene on bacteria (E. coli) susceptibility to γ-radiation was examined by radio sensitivity assay. The study also examined the induction of strand breaks in plasmid pUC19 DNA and how lycopene extract protected the DNA from γ-radiation in vitro. Results: At varying concentrations, lycopene demonstrated its ability to scavenge free radicals such as 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). IC50 for lycopene was determined at 112 μg/mL which was almost partial to IC50 of standard antioxidant L-ascorbic acid. The D10 value 180 Gy of E. coli was found to be >2-fold higher in the extract-containing lycopene sample than in the extract-free controls. The lycopene extracts inhibited the radiation-induced deterioration of the plasmid pUC19 DNA. At an IC50 concentration, lycopene provided the highest level of protection. Conclusion: Lycopene functions as an efficient free radical scavenger and possible natural antioxidant source. For cancer patients and others who frequently expose themselves to radiation, lycopene may be a useful plant-based pharmaceutical product for treating a variety of diseases caused by free radicals.
