Comparison of the inhibitory effect of different doses of subconjunctival bevacizumab application in an experimental model of corneal neovascularization

AIM： To evaluate the inhibitory effect of subconjunctival bevacizumab as single-and multiple-dose application, and compare their effects on corneal neovascularization in a rat model. METHODS： Thirty adult Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this experimental study. The central cornea of the rats was cauterized chemically. The rats were randomly enrolled into three groups. All groups received subconjunctival injections. In Group 1（control group, n=10）, 0.05 m L 0.9% Na Cl solution was injected on the first day. In Group 2（single-dose group, n=10）, 0.05 m L bevacizumab（1.25 mg） was injected on the first day. In Group 3（multiple-dose group, n=10）, four doses of 0.05 m L bevacizumab（1.25 mg） were injected on the first, third, fifth and seventh day. Slit-lamp examination of all rats was performed at the third and ninth day. Digital images of the corneas were taken and analyzed using image analysis software to calculate corneal neovascularization area. All rats were sacrificed on the tenth day. In corneal sections, the number of blood vessels, state of inflammation and collagen formation was evaluated histopathologically. RESULTS： In Group 3, corneal edema grades were significantly lower than Group 1 and Group 2（P=0.02, and P=0.035, respectively）. The mean percentage of neovascularized corneal area in Group 3 was significantly lower than Group 2（P=0.005）. On histopathological examination, Group 2 and Group 3 showed significantly less number of blood vessels than Group 1（P=0.005, and P=0.001, respectively）. Additionally, Group 3 showed significantly less number of blood vessels compared to Group 2（P=0.019）. Inflammation and edema grades were significantly lower in Group 3 compared to Group 1（P=0.001）. CONCLUSION： Subconjunctival bevacizumab injection is effective in inhibition of newly formed corneal neovascularization. The multiple-dose bevacizumab treatment seems to be more effective compared to single-dose treatment.

Interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy soft set(IVPFSS)is a generalization of the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy soft set(IVIFSS)and interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy set(IVPFS).The IVPFSS handled more uncertainty comparative to IVIFSS;it is the most significant technique for explaining fuzzy information in the decision-making *** this work,some novel operational laws for IVPFSS have been *** on presented operational laws,two innovative aggregation operators(AOs)have been developed such as interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy soft weighted average(IVPFSWA)and interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy soft weighted geometric(IVPFSWG)operators with their fundamental properties.A multi-attribute group decision-making(MAGDM)approach has been established utilizing our developed operators.A numerical example has been presented to ensure the validity of the proposed MAGDM ***,comparative studies have been given between the proposed approach and some existing *** obtained results through comparative studies show that the proposed technique is more credible and reliable than existing approaches.

Synthesis and characterization of rare earth metal doped tungsten trioxide photocatalyst for degradation of Rhodamine B dye

Nowadays,it is concern for researchers that due to high recombination rate of photogenerated charge carriers in tungsten trioxide(WO_(3)) nanoparticles,the future applications are limited in the field of *** we attempt to synthesize tungsten trioxide nanoparticles with different doping concentrations of lanthanum i.e.2 wt%,4 wt%,6 wt% and 8 wt%.The synthesized samples were characterized by using various characterization techniques:X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),photoluminescence spectra(PL),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) and UV-Vis ***_(3) retains its monoclinic structure even after doping which was confirmed by XRD *** helps to descry functional groups present in the *** size of nanoparticles was calculated by using *** confirms the absence of any impurity in the synthesized *** spectroscopy confirms the presence of a large number of imperfections induced in the lattice of WO_(3).The rate of recombination was analyzed by photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy and is minimum in 4 wt% doping of *** optical bandgap was calculated using UV-Vis spectroscopy and becomes narrow along with the doping ***,it is found that doping of La in WO_(3) has considerably ameliorate the photocatalytic activity by reducing rate of recombination due to the trapping of electrons by defects introduced in the *** decolorization of Rhodamine B(RhB) dye was performed and the values of c/c_0 and rate constant(k) confirm that the 4 wt% doping shows maximum degradation *** kinetic study for photodegradation of Rhodamine B was done by using various kinetic models and results show that the reaction follows first order kinetics very ***,optimum doping of lanthanum increases the decolorization ability of WO_(3) towards RhB dye.

Hepatotoxicity reports in the FDA adverse event reporting system database:A comparison of drugs that cause injury via mitochondrial or other mechanisms

Drug-induced liver injury(DILI) is a leading reason for preclinical safety attrition and postmarket drug ***-induced mitochondrial toxicity has been shown to play an essential role in various forms of DILI,especially in idiosyncratic liver *** study examined liver injury reports submitted to the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System(FAERS) for drugs associated with hepatotoxicity via mitochondrial mechanisms compared with non-mitochondrial mechanisms of *** frequency of hepatotoxicity was determined at a group level and individual drug level.A reporting odds ratio(ROR) was calculated as the measure of *** the two DILI groups,reports for DILI involving mitochondrial mechanisms of toxicity had a 1.43(95% CI 1.42-1.45;P 18:benzbromarone,troglitazone,isoniazid,rifampin) were associated with mitochondrial mechanisms of *** major demographic influence for DILI risk was also *** was a higher mean patient age among reports for drugs that were associated with mitochondrial mechanisms of toxicity [56.1±18.33(SD)] compared to non-mitochondrial mechanisms [48±19.53(SD)](P <0.0001),suggesting that age may play a role in susceptibility to DILI via mitochondrial mechanisms of *** logistic regression analysis showed that reports of liver injury were 2.2(odds ratio:2.2,95% CI 2.12-2.26) times more likely to be associated with older patient age,as compared with reports involving patients less than 65 years of *** to males,female patients were 37% less likely(odds ratio:0.63,95% CI

Oxygen defects boost polysulfides immobilization and catalytic conversion:First-principles computational characterization and experimental design

Although some experiments have shown that point defects in a cathode host material may enhance its performance for lithium-sulfur battery(LSB),the enhancement mechanism needs to be well investigated for the design of desired sulfur ***,the first principle density functional theory(DFT)is adopted to investigate a high-performance sulfur host material based on oxygen-defective TiO2(D-TiO2).The adsorption energy comparisons and Gibbs free energy analyses verify that D-TiO2 has relatively better performances than defect-free TiO2 in terms of anchoring effect and catalytic conversion of ***,D-TiO2 is capable of absorbing the most soluble and diffusive long-chain *** newly designed D-TiO2 composited with three-dimensional graphene aerogel(D-TiO2@Gr)has been shown to be an excellent sulfur host,maintaining a specific discharge capacity of 1,049.3 mAhg^−1 after 100 cycles at 1C with a sulfur loading of 3.2 mgcm^−*** with the sulfur mass loading increasing to 13.7 mgcm^−2,an impressive stable cycling is obtained with an initial areal capacity of 14.6 mAhcm^−2,confirming the effective enhancement of electrochemical performance by the oxygen *** DFT calculations shed lights on the enhancement mechanism of the oxygen defects and provide some guidance for designing advanced sulfur host materials.

Relationships between morphological descriptors and RAPD markers for assessing genetic variability in Hippophae rhamnoides L.

Knowledge of genetic relatedness among accessions of germplasm is necessary for the development of breeding strategies to produce improved cultivars. The present investigation on Hippophae rhamnoides was carried out to assess its genetic variability in Himachal Pradesh, India, by employing morphological and RAPD markers. Different areas of Himachal Pradesh were surveyed and eight sites were finally selected Twenty four genotypes were selected for further studies, i.e., three genotypes from each site. On the basis of morphological studies, the genotypes of the Ropa site （Kinnaur） were considered elite genotypes. To assess the variability at the molecular level, RAPD patterns were studied by random primers. The total number of bands amplified was 607, out of which 487 bands were identified as polymorphic, depicting 80.23 per cent variability. Six unique bands were produced from three primers （OPA- 05, OPA-10 and OPD-08） specific for five genotypes, including three genotypes of the Ropa site, Kinnaur District.

Low voltage floating gate MOSFET based current differencing transconductance amplifier and its applications

This article presents a low voltage low power configuration of current differencing transconductance amplifier（CDTA）based on floating gate *** proposed CDTA variant operates at lower supply voltage±1.4 V with total static power dissipation of 2.60 mW due to the low voltage feature of floating gate *** transconductance up to 6.21 mA/V is achieved with extended linear range of the circuit i.e.±130μ*** applications are illustrated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed active block.A quadrature oscillator is realized using FGMOS based CDTA,two capacitors,and a *** resistor is implemented using two NMOSFETs to provide high linearity and *** application is the Schmitt trigger circuit based on the proposed CDTA *** circuits are simulated by using SPICE and TSMC 130 nm technology.

Diffusion tensor imaging and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy in brain tumor Correlation between structure and metabolism

Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy and diffusion tensor imaging are non-invasive techniques used to detect metabolites and water diffusion in vivo. Previous studies have confirmed a positive correlation of individual fractional anisotropy values with N-acetylaspartate/creatine and N-acetylaspartate/choline ratios in tumors, edema, and normal white matter. This study divided the brain parenchyma into tumor, pedtumoral edema, and normal-appearing white matter according to MRI data, and analyzed the correlation of metabolites with water molecular diffusion. Results demonstrated that in normal-appearing white matter, N-acetylaspartate/creatine ratios were positively correlated with fractional anisotropy values, negatively correlated with radial diffusivities, and positively correlated with maximum eigenvalues. Maximum eigenvalues and radial diffusivities in peritumoral edema showed a negative correlation with choline, N-acetylaspartate, and creatine. Radial diffusivities in tumor demonstrated a negative correlation with choline. These data suggest that the relationship between metabolism and structure is markedly changed from normal white matter to peritumoral edema and tumor. Neural metabolism in the peritumoral edema area decreased with expanding extracellular space. The normal relationship of neural function and microstructure disappeared in the tumor region.

We present an attempt to study the influence of couple stresses on the flow induced by an infinite disk rotating with a constant angular *** governing equations of motion in three dimensions are treated analytically yielding the derivation of exact solutions which differ from those corresponding to the classical Von Kármán's *** analysis reveals that a boundary layer structure develops near the surface of the disk,whose far-field behaviour is distinct from the near-wall *** velocity and vorticity components for various values of the dimensionless parameters,associated with the flow,are presented graphically.

Novel Double-Damped Tuned AC Filters in HVDC Systems

This paper presents a performance analysis of novel doubledampedtuned alternating current (AC) filters in high voltage direct current(HVDC) systems. The proposed double-damped tuned AC filters offer theadvantages of improved performance of HVDC systems in terms of betterpower quality, high power factor, and lower total harmonic distortion (THD).The system under analysis consists of an 878 km long HVDC transmissionline connecting converter stations at Matiari and Lahore, two major cities inPakistan. The main focus of this research is to design a novel AC filter usingthe equivalent impedance method of two single-tuned and double-dampedtuned AC filters. Additionally, the impact of the damping resistor on the ACchannel is examined. TheTHDof theHVDCsystem with and without currentAC filters was also compared in this research and a double-damped tuned ACfilter was proposed. The results of the simulation represent that the proposeddouble-damped tuned AC filter is far smaller in size, offers better powerquality, and has a much lower THD compared to the AC filters currently inplace in the converter station. The simulation analysis was carried out utilizingpower systems computer-aided design (PSCAD) software.
