Effect of β-blocker therapy in diabetic patients with stable coronary heart disease: a meta-analysis

Background β-blocker (BB) therapy is a cornerstone for the treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD).The evidence of the benefit from long-term BB therapy in diabetic patients with stable CHD is *** meta-analysis summarizes the evidence relating to the BB therapy in diabetic patients with stable *** A meta-analysis was performed according to PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines for reporting of systematic reviews of observational ***,Embase,and Cochrane central were searched and two authors independently screened studies for *** quality of studies was assessed with the Newcastle Ottawa *** primary outcome of interest was all-cause mortality,cardiovascular (CV) mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in diabetic patients with and without BB therapy.A generic inverse variance model was used to pool odds ratio or hazards ratio from included studies to calculate the overall effect *** significance threshold was set at P-value elected for the *** studies were post-hoc analyses of randomized controlled trials,and one article was an analysis of a nationally representative *** a fixed effects model,BB therapy in diabetic patients with stable CHD was found to be associated with increased risk of CV mortality,and MACE (27% and 32% respectively;P-value < 0.05) and was not associated with a reduction in all-cause mortality (HR 1.12;95% CI: 0.94–1.33;P-value = 0.22).Conclusion BB therapy in diabetic patients with stable CHD appears to be linked to higher *** randomized trials are needed in this population to confirm these findings.

The systematic method for constructing Lewis representations is a method for representing chemical bonds between atoms in a molecule. It uses symbols to represent the valence electrons of the atoms involved in the bond. Using a number of rules in a defined order, it is often better suited to complicated cases than the Lewis representation of atoms. This method allows us to determine the formal charge and oxidation number of each atom in the edifice more efficiently than other methods.

Water is the most abundant liquid on the surface of the earth. It is a liquid whose properties are quite surprising, both as a pure liquid and as a solvent. Water is a very cohesive liquid: its melting and vaporization temperatures are very high for a liquid that is neither ionic nor metallic, and whose molar mass is low. Thus, water remains liquid at atmospheric pressure up to 100C while similar molecules such as H2S, H2Se, H2Te for example would give a vaporization temperature close to 80C. This cohesion is in fact ensured by hydrogen bonds between water molecules. This type of bonds between neighboring molecules, hydrogen bonds, is quite often found in chemistry [1] [2]. Any change in the state of aggregation of a substance occurs with the absorption or release of a certain amount of latent heat of transformation. Latent heat of fusion, vaporization or sublimation is the ratio of the energy supplied as heat to the mass of the substance that is melted, vaporized or sublimated. As a result of the reversibility of the processes, the fusion heat is equal to the heat released in the reverse process: crystallization and solidification heat. And likewise the heat of vaporization is equal to the heat of condensation. This equality of heat is often used to determine experimentally either of these quantities. There are two main measurement methods: 1) Direct measurement using the calorimeter, 2) Indirect measure based on the use of the VantHoff relationship. The objective of this work is to measure the latent heat of water vaporization and verify the compatibility of the experimental values with the values given by the tables using the indirect method.

Carbon graphite is a crystalline form of carbon consisting of layers of hexagonal carbon atoms arranged in a two-dimensional “graphene” structure. Graphene layers are stacked on top of each other, forming a three-dimensional structure with a high degree of anisotropy. The carbon atoms within each layer are linked together by strong covalent bonds, creating a strong, stable lattice structure. However, the layers themselves are held together by weak van der Waals forces, enabling them to slide easily over each other. The properties of carbon graphite are highly dependent on the orientation and alignment of the graphene layers. When the layers are aligned parallel to each other, the material exhibits high strength and stiffness along the alignment direction, but is weaker and more flexible in other directions. Carbon graphite is used in a variety of applications where high strength, rigidity and electrical conductivity are required. Some common applications include electrical contacts, electric motor brushes, and as a structural material in aerospace and defense applications. The aim of our work is to describe the structure of graphite, its physical and chemical properties and its applications.

The most abundant phenolic biopolymer in the biosphere is the *** phenolic biopolymer commonly exists in combination with polysaccharides and other cell wall *** this study,the solvent system dioxane-water is used to extract lignin,which is considered as unaltered native *** dioxane lignin extracted from fig stems was characterized regarding to its structural feature,quantification of its functional groups,molecular weight,and evaluation of its thermal *** and molecular weight distribution of the studied lignin indicated that isolated lignin contained a low amount of sugar(c.a.19%)and had a high weight-average molecular weight(10068 ***-1).Lignin sample had approximately the same amounts of guaiacyl(G)and p-hydroxyphenyl(H)units with relatively fewer syringyl(S)*** isolated lignin revealed good antioxidant ***,it proved to have a high potential of application in new antioxidants formulations.

Assessment of Cork Oak Decline Using Digital Multispectral Imagery in Relation with in Situ Crown Condition

Cork oak in Maamora forest is experiencing the dieback phenomenon. The evaluation of the latter in this forest has gained the importance over time and with the solicitation of managers to objectify its phytosanitary situation. Aiming at prioritizing management actions, remote sensing seems to be an effective tool to inquire about stands’ health conditions and their evolution. To this end, this study aims at mapping and validating health status of cork oak stands in Maamora. Sentinel 2 images in 2015 and 2020 were processed to calculate the differential normalized difference water index (NDWI), revealing vegetation moisture variation caused by drought. A statistical method based on thresholds was used to map cork oak dieback stands, those with no changes and those recovered. Results have shown that 54.63% of cork oak in Maamora forest have not changed in terms of phytosanitary situation between 2015 and 2020, 31.10% of oak stands are afflicted by a slight decline and 12.97% by a severe decline. Areas with slight or strong recovery remain minimal and represent 1.04% and 0.25% respectively. Ground data indicated that the map generated displayed a good distinction between stands severely and slightly declined with a global accuracy of 66.66%. Therefore, further research elaborating an advanced vegetation index reflecting the various factors of dieback would be of much importance.

Despite its appearance in physics around the 1850th, the second law of thermodynamics is still attracting more efforts to be clarified. More specifically, fifteen years later (1865) after its definition and introduction, entropy has been the subject of various interpretations. Hence, in physical sciences and notably in different education levels, its concept seems to be relatively tough to unambiguous decipher. In this work, we re-introduce the notion of entropy from classical, quantum and information theories viewpoints. The controversial over entropy and a measure of disorder misconception, stated by many scientists, is addressed as well to come up with less confusing physical interpretation of entropy. Hence, over time, an increase of entropy, a quantitative quantity, is most often associated to a rising of disorder, a non-quantitative quantity and no value-returning mathematical equation, rather than a continuously increasing of hidden data. In other words, linking disorder to hidden data is typically raising more confusion than clarification. Here, we shed more light on both concepts to find out an acceptable interpretation of entropy.

Morphology and Genetic Studies of Cymodocea Seagrass Genus in Tunisian Coasts

Specimens of Cymodocea(Viridiplantae,Magnoliophyta)collected on the Tunisian coasts showed a particular morphological and anatomical difference with the classical descriptions of Cymodocea nodosa(Ucria)*** only species of this genus reported in the Mediterranean *** order to precise the taxonomic identity of the new specimens we aimed in this work(i)to verify the identity of the new forms,(ii)to evaluate the genetic diversity of the population,(iii)to test the validity of the existing identification keys of the Tunisian Cymodocea *** stations located in two regions of the Tunisian coasts were *** morphological and anatomical characters used in taxonomic identification were measured(e.g.,number of cross veins,shape of the apex).The genetic study was performed using three most common chloroplast markers for plant characterization(DNA barcodes rbcL,matK and trnHpsbA).The morphological study revealed the presence of three *** morphotypes,described here for the first time,while the molecular characterization did not allow the discrimination of these morphological *** regard to these results,it would be wise to review the classical identification keys of the Cymodocea genus.
