Traumatic spinal cord injuries(SCI) are characterized by damage in the integrity of the spinal cord,which results in either temporary or permanent alterations in the locomotor,sensory and/or autonomic functions(Yezierski,2009).The traumatic event leads to impairments in voluntary control of movement below the injury by affecting the connection between the brain and the neurons localized in the spinal cord.

Traumatic spinal cord injuries interrupt the connection of all axonal projections with their neuronal targets below and above the lesion site. This interruption results in either temporary or permanent alterations in the locomotor, sensory, and autonomic functions. Damage in the spinal tissue prevents the re-growth of severed axons across the lesion and their reconnection with neuronal targets. Therefore, the absence of spontaneous repair leads to sustained impairment in voluntary control of movement below the injury. For decades, axonal regeneration and reconnection have been considered the opitome of spinal cord injury repair with the goal being the repair of the damaged long motor and sensory tracts in a complex process that involves:(1) resealing injured axons;(2) reconstructing the cytoskeletal structure inside axons;(3) re-establishing healthy growth cones;and(4) assembling axonal cargos. These biological processes require an efficient production of adenosine triphosphate, which is affected by mitochondrial dysfunction after spinal cord injury. From a pathological standpoint, during the secondary stage of spinal cord injury, mitochondrial homeostasis is disrupted, mainly in the distal segments of severed axons. This result in a reduction of adenosine triphosphate levels and subsequent inactivation of adenosine triphosphate-dependent ion pumps required for the regulation of ion concentrations and reuptake of neurotransmitters, such as glutamate. The consequences are calcium overload, reactive oxygen species formation, and excitotoxicity. These events are intimately related to the activation of necrotic and apoptotic cell death programs, and further exacerbate the secondary stage of the injury, being a hallmark of spinal cord injury. This is why restoring mitochondrial function during the early stage of secondary injury could represent a potentially effective therapeutic intervention to overcome the motor and sensory failure produced by spinal cord injury. The iron concentrate from Hercules Mine of Coahuila,Mexico,which mainly contained pyrite and pyrrhotite,was treated by the bioleaching process using native strain Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans （***） to determine the ability of these bacteria on the leaching of *** native bacteria were isolated from the iron concentrate of the *** bioleaching experiments were carried out in shake flasks to analyze the effects of pH values,pulp density,and the ferrous sulfate concentration on the bioleaching *** results obtained by microbial kinetic analyses for the evaluation of some aspects of zinc leaching show that the native bacteria ***,which is enriched with a 9K Silverman medium under the optimum conditions of pH 2.0,20 g/L pulp density,and 40 g/L FeSO4,increases the zinc extraction considerably observed by monitoring during15 d,i.e.,the zinc concentration has a decrease of about 95% in the iron concentrate.

In this article, we establish the route taken by the author, and his research group, to bring differential flatness to the realm of active disturbance rejection control （ADRC）. This avenue entitled： 1） generalized proportional integral observers （GPIO）, as natural state and disturbance observers for fiat systems, 2） generalized proportional integral （GPI） control, provided with extra integrations, to produce a modular controller known as flat filters （FF＇s） and, finally, 3） the establishing of an equivalence of observer based ADRC with FF＇s. The context is that of pure integration systems. The obtained controllers depend only on the order of the flat system and they are to be directly used on the basis of the available flat output signal in a universal, modular, fashion. The map is complemented with the relevant references where the intermediate techniques were illustrated and developed, over the years, in connection with laboratory experimental implementations.

The use of the multiscale generalized radial basis function(MSRBF)neural networks for image feature extraction and medical image analysis and classification is proposed for the first time in this *** MSRBF networks hold a simple and flexible architecture that has been successfully used in forecasting and model structure detection of input-output nonlinear *** this work instead,MSRBF networks are part of an integrated computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)framework for breast cancer detection,which holds three stages:an input-output model is obtained from the image,followed by a high-level image feature extraction from the model and a classification module aimed at predicting breast *** the first stage,the image data is rendered into a multiple-input-single-output(MISO)*** order to improve the characterisation,the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs(NARX)model is introduced to rearrange the available input-output data in a nonlinear *** forward regression orthogonal least squares(FROLS)algorithm is then used to take advantage of the previous arrangement by solving the system as a model structure detection problem and finding the output layer weights of the NARX-MSRBF *** the second stage,once the network model is available,the feature extraction takes place by stimulating the input to produce output signals to be compressed by the discrete cosine transform(DCT).In the third stage,we leverage the extracted features by using a clustering algorithm for classification to integrate a CAD system for breast cancer *** test the method performance,three different and well-known public image repositories were used:the mini-MIAS and the MMSD for mammography,and the BreaKHis for histopathology images.A comparison exercise was also made between different database partitions to understand the mammogram breast density effect in the performance since there are few remarks in the literature on this *** results show that

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2) infection can progress to a severe respiratory and systemic disease named coronavirus disease–2019(COVID-19). The most common symptoms are fever and respiratory discomfort. Nevertheless, gastrointestinal infections have been reported, with symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and lack of appetite. Importantly, SARS-CoV-2 can remain positive in fecal samples after nasopharyngeal clearance. After gastrointestinal SARS-CoV-2 infection and other viral gastrointestinal infections, some patients may develop alterations in the gastrointestinal microbiota. In addition, some COVID-19 patients may receive antibiotics, which may also disturb gastrointestinal homeostasis. In summary, the gastrointestinal system, gut microbiome, and gut-lung axis may represent an important role in the development, severity, and treatment of COVID-19. Therefore, in this review, we explore the current pieces of evidence of COVID-19 gastrointestinal manifestations, possible implications, and interventions.

Over the last four decades,a severe deterioration in air quality has accompanied China’s rapid *** a result,the Chinese government has implemented stricter policies and regulation to control air *** this paper,the authors create a measure of government policies on air pollution by tracking all pollution-related government announcements in Chinese *** authors then use this variable,along with measures of actual pollution,to investigate how air pollution,industrial production,and government policies on air pollution are *** authors conduct this investigation nationwide,as well as in five large cities in China.A vector autoregression model suggests that,nationwide,government policies seem to decrease air pollution without significantly affecting industrial ***,the effect appears to be short-lived,dissipating after a few *** addition,the authors find that the dynamic relationship among these variables differs by *** instance,following an adverse air quality shock in Beijing,government efforts to control pollution seem to have an ameliorating city-wide effect,decreasing local air pollution in subsequent *** Shanghai and Guangzhou,while the local government reacts to adverse air pollution shocks,the ameliorating effects are not statistically *** Chengdu and Shenyang,the authors detect no significant local government reaction to adverse air pollution ***,in these cities,local government policies do not impart a statistically measurable effect on air pollution.
