The emergence of novel systemic therapies has spurred a dramatic paradigm shift in lung cancer *** has revealed greater intracranial efficacy in targeted agents and immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICI)compared to conventional ***,advances in stereotactic radiosurgery(SRS)have contributed to the increased use of this highly localized,minimally-invasive treatment modality for local tumor *** this era of precision medicine,the combination of these novel agents and SRS demands further prospective exploration-particularly as questions regarding their sequence of administration and the risk of neurotoxicity remain ***,although data are limited and largely retrospective,literature supports the concurrent administration of ICI and radiation,with no observed increases in immune-related adverse events or acute neurologic *** the case of patients with driver mutations,newer generations of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKI)display improved intracranial efficacy and are currently preferred alone upfront in patients with asymptomatic brain metastases(BM)due to lack of *** of combining TKI and SRS is limited with mixed *** this review,we explore the evidence regarding the use of novel systemic agents and SRS for treatment of lung cancer *** practice will continue to be refined as larger,prospective studies yield results.

Application of fractal theory in assessing soil aggregates in Indian tropical ecosystems

Soil aggregation varies according to climatic and manage- ment factors, and is difficult to measure because of irregular shapes and sizes of soil aggregates. We applied fractal theory to assess soil aggrega- tion as affected by （1） land use change from forest to savanna, （2） nutri- ent additions in forest, ecotone, and savanna ecosystems, and （3） tillage practice and residue treatments in an agro-ecosystem. We used fractal dimensions nonlinear （D,o,-lin） and linear （Dlin） based on number of ag- gregates （N） and mass of aggregates （M）（the range of values were 2.6-2.89 and 2.694.41, respectively） to capture the variations in the sizes of soil aggregates due to land use and treatments/management in these ecosystems. The variation in the values of non-linear fractal dimension based on mass （DMnon-lin） was smaller in forest and savanna ecosystems with and without nutrient additions, while the variation was wider in agro-ecosystems with different management practices. Linear fractal dimensions based on number （Dr^i,） and mass （DMlin） of aggregates var- ied marginally in these ecosystems and did not capture the variations in soil aggregates well. The variations in non-linear fractal dimension indi- cate that continued nitrogen loading in forest accelerates the formation of macro-aggregates, whereas in savanna the situation was reversed. The values of non-linear fractal dimensions did not show significant change after 6 years of nutrient additions in the ecotone; reflecting a buffering mechanism of this system in soil aggregate formation. On the basis of non-linear fractal dimension values, we conclude that residue retention and minimum tillage are appropriate for proper maintenance of soil ag- gregate stability for sustained crop production in the Indian dry land agro-ecosystems

A rare occurrence of a microspherule has been found in the infratrappean sediments,encountered below338 m thick Deccan volcanic cover in KLR-1 scientific borehole,drilled in the epicentral zone of the 1993 Killari earthquake(Maharashtra,India).Palynological studies of the sediments indicate their age as Early Permian(Asselian,298-295 Ma) for *** electron microscope studies reveal that the spherule from the infratrappeans,is having a similar composition to that of the Neoarchean amphibolite to granulite facies mid crustal *** spherule is non-spherical in nature,containing mostly FeO(10.70±0.20 wt.%),CaO(13.8±0.5 wt.%),Al203(7.78±0.30 wt.%),MgO(6.47±0.3 wt.%),Si02(47,46±0.50 wt.%),Ti02(2.47±0.3 wt.%).K20(1.89±0.20 wt.%).and Cl(0.33±0.05 wt.%).Since the Fe composition of the spherule is almost same as the basement rock(10.5 wt.%),and the chlorine content is also in the same range as the basement(0.04-0.24 wt.%),it would suggest possibility of an extraterrestrial impact over the Indian terrain during the erstwhile Gondwana sedimentation period that may be associated with the Permian-Triassic mass extinction,the most severe one in the Earth's history.

Investigation of enhancement in planar fast neutron detector efficiency with stacked structure using Geant4

Geant4 based Monte Carlo study has been carried out to assess the improvement in efficiency of the planar structure of Silicon Carbide(SiC)-based semiconductor fast neutron detector with the stacked structure. A proton recoil detector was simulated, which consists of hydrogenous converter, i.e., high-density polyethylene(HDPE) for generating recoil protons by means of neutron elastic scattering(n, p) reaction and semiconductor material SiC, for generating a detectable electrical signal upon transport of recoil protons through it. SiC is considered in order to overcome the various factors associated with conventional Si-based devices such as operability in a harsh radiation environment, as often encountered in nuclear facilities. Converter layer thickness is optimized by considering 10~9 neutron events of different monoenergetic neutron sources as well as ^(241)Am-Be neutron spectrum. It is found that the optimized thickness for neutron energy range of 1–10 MeV is ~400 μm. However, the efficiency of fast neutron detection is estimated to be only 0.112%,which is considered very low for meaningful and reliable detection of neutrons. To overcome this problem, a stacked juxtaposition of converter layer between SiC layers has been analyzed in order to achieve high efficiency. It is noted that a tenfold efficiency improvement has been obtained—1.04% for 10 layers stacked configuration vis-à-vis 0.112% of single converter layer detector. Further simulation of the stacked detector with respect to variable converter thickness has been performed to achieve the efficiency as high as ~3.85% with up to 50 stacks.

Objective:To investigate antimicrobial and bronchodialator effect of hydroalcholic extract of polyherbal drug Shirishadi containing Shirisha(Albezzia lebbeck),Nagarmotha(Cyprus ratandus) & Kantakari(Solanum xanthocarpum).Methods:Antimicrobial activity was evaluated by discdiffusion method and MIC,MBC,MFC were calculated by micro dilution *** extract of this preparation was investigated for its phytochemical analysis,phenol and Oavonoid were determined by speclrophotometric method and in vivo bronchodilator effect was analysed by convulsion ***:The phytochemical tests revealed presence of alkaloids, anthraquinones,carbohydrates,flavonoids,saponins and *** antimicrobial result showed the MIC of 6.25 mg/*** Staphylococcus aureus and 12.5 mg/*** Escherichia coli and 12.5 mg/mL against remaining bacteria tested,with strong antifungal *** maximum inhibition zone is found against Pseudomonas aeruginosa with MIC 16 mg/mL Drug showed significant bronchodilator effect with 27.86%& 36.13%increase in preconvulsion time of guinea pigs prebeated with 100 & 200 mg/kg body weight of ***:The study reveals that the extracts possess antibacterial activity and antifungal activity in a dose dependent manner. This antimicrobial property may be due to presence of several saponins,further studies are highly needed for the drug development.

Objective:To delineate the comparative immunomodulatory roles of H1R-H4R in antibody generation profile in rabbit ***:The cohort comprised of eight groups containing 18(9 male and 9 female) rabbits in each ***Ⅰremained non-immunized and received only vehicle(sterile distilled water,1 mL/kg×b.i.d.) ***Ⅱreceived vehicle (1 mL/kg×b.i.d.) while GroupsⅢ-Ⅶ(drugs-treated) received subcutaneous histamine (100μg/kg×b.i.d.),and intramuscular H1R-antagonist(pheniramine,10 mg/kg×b.i.d.), H2R-antagonist(ranitidine,10 mg/kg×b.i.d.),H3R-antagonist(iodophenpropit,1μg/kg×b.i.d.) and H4R-antagonist(JNJ 7777120,10μg/kg×b.i.d.),and GroupⅧDMSO(1 mL/kg×b.i.d.),respectively for 10 days(starting from day 1).They were subsequendy immunized with intravenous injection of sheep red blood cells(SRBC) at day *** estimation of serum Igs,IgM and IgG were done by ELISA,and observed at day 0(pre-immunization),and 7,14,21,28 and 58(post-immunization).Results:It was shown that histamine and HRs-antagonists could influence a detectable antibody response to SRBC as early as day 7-post-immunization(post-Ⅰ), which lasted until day 58 post-Ⅰ.The results were found statistically significant(P<0.05,). Conclusions:This study suggests that histamine receptors play important roles in modulation of antibody generation in which H1R,H2R and H4R have immunosuppressive roles and conversely, H3R playes an immune enhancing *** findings of this study may have clinical significance and provide the baseline information for future study.

Multiferroics are an intriguing family of materials due to the simultaneous presence of two ferroic orderings,namely,ferroelectricity and *** are scientifically and technologically important and have numerous potential applications,such as four-state logic memories and multiferroic tunneling ***,the growth of epitaxial singlephase multiferroic thin films typically requires single crystalline oxide substrates,which hinders their future integration with Sibased *** this study,we report a generalized synthesis method that uses the polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)-assisted wetetching method with an Sr_(3)Al_(2)O_(6)(SAO)sacrificial layer to transfer freestanding single-phase multiferroic Bi_(2)NiMnO_(6)(BNMO)films from conventional SrTiO_(3)(STO)substrates onto a Si *** structures and properties of the films have been characterized before and after the *** transferred films possess good multiferroic properties on Si wafers,indicating full compatibility with modern Si *** method can be generally applicable to other Bi-based multiferroic materials as ***,the original STO substrates after the transfer process have been recycled for preparing new batches of freestanding BNMO films,indicating a low-cost and sustainable method for manufacturing large-volume freestanding complex oxide thin films.
