Antimicrobial Resistance of Microorganisms Causing Pneumonia in Patients of a Public Hospital in Brazilian Pre-Amazon Region

Nosocomial infections have been common in health services in *** them,pneumonia is very highlighted due to the comorbidity that usually affects intensive treatment unit(ITU)patients,and due to the need for endotracheal *** aim of this study was to determine the resistance profile of bacteria isolated from ITU patients with pneumonia in a public hospital in S?o Luis,an important city in the Brazilian pre-Amazon *** strains were obtained from tracheal aspiration and collected for diagnosis as well for phenotypic *** culture media,such as blood and MacConkey agar,were used to isolate clinical *** Vitek 2 method was used to identify strains and disc diffusion method(Kirby-Bauer)was performed to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility *** study,eighty-eight patients were diagnosed with pneumonia,caused by more than 20 different *** them,***(28%),Acinetobacter baumannii(20%),Coagulase-negative Staphylococci(19%),Staphylococcus aureus(8%)and Klebsiella pneumoniae(7%)were the most prevalent *** to the resistance,antimicrobial susceptibility test showed that majority of gram-negative bacteria presented resistance to *** gram-positive bacteria there was a high resistance to ampicillin,penicillin,ciprofloxacin,clindamycin and *** study showed a high prevalence of bacteria resistance in ITU patients in a public *** *** was the most frequent pathogen,it was possible to find other pathogens that were not recurrent,such as Enterobacter spp.,Proteus mirabilis and Providencia *** antimicrobials,the results showed a high resistance to several antimicrobials.

World experience indicates the existence of significant imbalances in the development of *** problem of assessing the rational development of the regional and national economy is becoming urgent,since such assessments can prevent development imbalances across *** aim of this study is to elaborate a methodology to assess the countries’socio-economic development by integraring 12 modern indices of socio-economic development into the Composite Country Development Index(CCDI).The methodology of this research was based on a set of key indices that described socio-economic development level in four fields(social development,digital development,economic development,and environmental security)and then these indices were integrated into the *** study further applied factor analysis and R-Studio software to define the gaps of social and economic development in 59 selected countries using the trigonometric function of the angle *** correlation analysis confirmed the existence of a close interrelation among the studied *** paper noted that due to the emergence of new priorities,it is necessary to revise the assessment methodology of socio-economic development level and expand them to cover the decisive *** was confirmed by the results obtained,demonstrating various combinations of the development level in the four fields and their impact on the *** scientific contribution of this research is to form a methodology(e.g.,the CCDI)for evaluating the socio-economic development level of countries in the world.

gIS tools for correlation of tectonics and seismicity in the Altay-Sayan area,Russia

Fault-block structures of the Altay-Sayan folded area （ASFA） southeastern Siberia of Russia were used as the basis for creating a 3-D model. The surface structures were projected to depths by previous correlations between long and deep faults, with all layers and deformation factors defined. The mean deformation factor （Ds） is 0.12 unit/km^3 in the upper layer, 0.012 unit/km^3 in the intermediate layer, and 0.007 unit/km^3 in the lower layer of the 3-D ASFA neotectonic model. Ds allows correlation of the three distinguished layers with theological bodies that differ in their potential for accumulating elastic energy. 3-D modeling can be used as a methodological approach to projections in seismic prone areas such as the Krasnoyarsk region, for earthquake-hazard monitoring.

Preliminary studies of acute and sub-chronic toxicity of the aqueous extract of guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) *** stem barks (Caesalpiniaceae) in mice and rats

Objective: To investigate the toxicity of aqueous extract of guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) J. Leonard(g. tessmannii) and evaluate its ***: NMRI mice were used to determine the acute toxicity of g. *** concentrations of the plant extracts were administered intraperitoneally or by force-feeding. general behavior and death were monitored and recorded daily for 7 *** order to determine the sub-acute toxicity of the extract, several doses were administered by oral gavage daily for 28 days in adult Wistar rats. Different parameters were assessed including body weight, food and water intake, biochemical parameters and several vital organ ***: LD50 of 328.78 mg/kg was obtained by i.p. route and more than 5 000 mg/kg was obtained in acute toxicity by oral route. In sub-acute toxicity, no significant alteration was observed in body weight or vital organs, food and water intake, and biochemical ***: The results showed that the aqueous extract of g. tessmannii has low toxicity intraperitoneally and no sub-acute toxicity via oral intake.

PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 polymorphisms in Brazilian patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

BACKgROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is becoming the most common chronic liver disease worldwide,with significant morbidity associated with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).genome-wide association studies demonstrated that the variants rs738409 C/g in the PNPLA3 and rs58542926 C/T in the TM6SF2 genes are determinants of inter-individual and ethnicity-related differences in hepatic fat content and NAFLD *** To investigate PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 genotype frequency and their association with NAFLD development and progression in Brazilian *** This cross-sectional case-control study enrolled 285 individuals from the gastroenterology and Hepatology clinics at a university hospital in *** case patients(n=148)were confirmed to have NAFLD by the identification of hepatic steatosis on ultrasonography and exclusion of other causes of liver *** to the clinical protocol,patients underwent liver biopsy when at high risk for NASH and/or advanced fibrosis(n=65).Steatohepatitis was confirmed in 54 *** who did not have biopsy indication or NASH on histology were considered to have simple steatosis(n=94).The control group(n=137)was selected among patients that attended the Intestinal Disease clinic and was composed of subjects without abnormalities on abdominal ultrasonography and normal liver biochemical *** individuals underwent PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 genotype *** PNPLA3 CC,Cg and gg genotype frequencies were 37%,44%and 19%,respectively,in NAFLD patients and were 58%,31%and 10%in controls(Pgender,age,body mass index and type 2 diabetes mellitus,the g allele increased the chance of NAFLD(OR=1.69,95%CI:1.21-2.36,P=0.002)and NASH(OR=3.50,95%CI:1.84-6.64,Pgher with gg homozygosis(OR=5.53,95%CI:2.04-14.92,P=0.001).No association was found between g allele and the features of metabolic *** histological assessment,PNPLA3 genoty

Detection of Helicobacter pylori resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in Brazil:A national survey

AIM To evaluate bacterial resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in Brazil using molecular *** The primary antibiotic resistance rates of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) were determined from November 2012 to March 2015 in the Southern,South-Eastern,Northern,North-Eastern,and Central-Western regions of Brazil. Four hundred ninety H. pylori patients [66% female,mean age 43 years(range: 18-79)] who had never been previously treated for this infection were enrolled. All patients underwent gastroscopy with antrum and corpus biopsies and molecular testing using geno Type Helico DR(Hain Life Science,germany). This test was performed to detect the presence of H. pylori and to identify point mutations in the genes responsible for clarithromycin and fluoroquinolone resistance. The molecular procedure was divided into three steps: DNA extraction from the biopsies,multiplex amplification,and reverse hybridization. RESULTS Clarithromycin resistance was found in 83(16.9%) patients,and fluoroquinolone resistance was found in 66(13.5%) patients. There was no statistical difference in resistance to either clarithromycin or fluoroquinolones(P = 0.55 and P = 0.06,respectively) among the different regions of Brazil. Dual resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones was found in 4.3%(21/490) of patients. The A2147 g mutation was present in 90.4%(75/83),A2146 g in 16.9%(14/83) and A2146 C in 3.6%(3/83) of clarithromycin-resistant patients. In 10.8%(9/83) of clarithromycin-resistant samples,more than 01 mutation in the 23 S r RNA gene was noticed. In fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the geno Type Helico DR test. D91 N mutation was observed in 34.8%(23/66),D91 g in 18.1%(12/66),N87 K in 16.6%(11/66) and D91 Y in 13.6%(9/66) of cases. Among fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the geno Type Helico DR test. CONCLUSION The H. pylori clarithromycin resistance rate in Brazil is
