This paper describes the development of an automated metering mechanism for vegetable *** consisted of a 3-DOF serial robotic arm and an automatic feeding *** robotic arm was developed to pick and drop tomato seedlings raised in biodegradable paper *** volume of each pot was 50 cm^(3)(3.5 cmdiameter and 5.2 cmheight)with a maximumtotalweight of 47 g including potmix and *** type feeding conveyorwas developed to convey the pot seedlings to a predefined positionwhere the robotic armcould pick up these seedlings one by ***(Light Dependent Resistor)-LED(Light Emitting Diode)sensing unit was used to perform the intermittent movement of the *** developed system was evaluated under both laboratory and field *** robotic arm was able to pick and drop 20 seedlings per minute and its effective cycle time per handling one seedling was varying from 2.5 to 3.1 *** consumption of the conveyor of the developed system and the robotic arm was 18 W and 16 W,*** conveying,metering and overall efficiency of the developed metering mechanism under laboratory condition were 96.83%,95.91%and 92.86%,respectively as compared to 94.7%,93.28%and 88.33%,under field *** developed robotic armbasedmeteringmechanismwas simple,light inweight and effectively handled the pot seedlings without damage and would thus help in mechanizing transplanting of vegetable seedlings.

This paper reports an experimental study of the mechanical response to tensile and compressive force of large scale steel to composite joints adhesively bonded with a thin layer of vinylester *** one specimen,the length of the reinforcing fibres in contact with the steel substrate has been reduced by saw cutting at both ends of the *** damaged specimen and four intact specimens were subjected to quasi-static tensile testing;six specimens were used for compression *** strain distribution at the composite surface and at the steel to hardwood connection of the specimen was monitored by digital image correlation(DIC).DIC allowed identifying the onset of damage in the tensile tested joints near the interface of the composite layer and the steel-hardwood *** tensile and compression tested specimens failed due to significant peel strain concentration at the composite near the connection of steel and *** average strength of a specimen tested in compression was about 66%higher than the average strength of a specimen tested in *** strain concentration zone in the damaged specimen was away from the introduced saw *** a result the damaged and intact tensile specimens showed the same failure strength and *** specimens failed by adhesive failure between the composite-hardwood interface.

Differently substituted benzimidazoles have been synthesized in very good yields in solvent-free conditions from o-phenylenediamine and aldehydes in the presence of BF3·OEt2 as a catalyst. The method is applicable to aromatic, unsaturated and aliphatic aldehydes and to substituted o-phenylenediamines without significant differences.

A novel way of producing superhydrophobic surfaces by applying a self-assembled monolayer(SAM)to silicon micro/nano-textured surfaces is presented in this *** micro/nano-textured surfaces on silicon substrates were generated by the aluminum-induced crystallization(AIC)of amorphous silicon(a-Si)***(OTS)SAMs were then applied to the textured surfaces by dip *** topography and wetting properties of the resulting surfaces were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and a video-based contact angle measurement *** results show that by introducing OTS SAMs on the silicon micro/nano-textured surfaces,superhydrophobic surfaces with water contact angles(WCAs)of 155°were obtained,as compared to the WCAs of OTS-modified smooth silicon surfaces of about 112°.Surface topography was found to directly influence the WCA as predicted by the Cassie-Baxter model.

Pyometra is one of the most important and common disorders in canine. The disease results in life threatening condition associated with septicemia and toxemia. The condition commonly occurs during luteal phase of estrous cycle, generally 4 weeks to 4 months of estrous cycle. The age, parity, breeds, administration of hormones are some predisposing factors of the condition. However, interaction between potentially pathogenic bacteria and hormonally primed uterus is believed to result in pyometra. The disease is initiated in the form of cystic endometrial hyperplasia, which later progresses into purulent uterine content following bacterial infection resulting in pyometra. The disturbance in antioxidant and pro-oxidant balance succeeding bacterial infection results in oxidative stress. The resultant stress further induces endometrial degeneration, immunosuppression and additionally aggravates the condition. An important clinical sign is malodorous, sanguineous or mucopurulent vaginal discharge with general symptoms such as vomiting, polyuria, polydipsia, depression, anorexia and occasionally fever. Till date, ultrasonography is the best diagnostic method while radiology and serological test are also helpful. Recently, the estimation of inflammatory mediators (acute phase proteins and prostaglandin metabolites) has appeared as marker for diagnosis of the pyometra. Determination of levels of inflammatory mediators has emerged as an important diagnostic method because it can be helpful in prognosis of the condition. The pyometra can be best treated by surgical manipulation (ovariohysterectomy);however, hormonal treatment can be given in less severe cases which aimed at reducing the effect of progesterone on the reproductive tract. Together, provision of antioxidants could be helpful in disease recovery along with the determined treatment. Protective effect of diosmin against diabetic neuropathy in experimental rats

OBJECTIVE： The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of diosmin in diabetic neuropathy in type 2 diabetic rats. METHODS： Type 2 diabetes was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats by single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin （35 mg/kg） and high-fat diet. Four weeks after the confirmation of diabetes, diabetic rats were treated with diosmin （50 and 100 mg/kg, p.o.） for next 4 weeks. Rats were evaluated for biochemical, behavioral and oxidative stress parameters. Eddy＇s hot plate and tail immersion test were performed on 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th weeks of experiment to assess thermal hyperalgesia and cold allodynia respectively. Further, the walking function test was performed for assessing the motor responses at the end of the treatment schedule. RESULTS： Rats were fed with high-fat diet throughout the experiment schedule and administration of low-dose streptozotocin induced significant elevation in blood glucose level and insulin resistance which was confirmed by oral glucose tolerance test. Treatment with diosmin at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg significantly restored the reduced body weight, elevated blood sugar and lipid profiles. Further the dose-dependent improvement was observed in thermal hyperalgesia, cold allodynia and walking function in diabetic rats treated with diosmin. Elevated levels of malondialdehyde, and nitric oxide and decreased glutathione levels and superoxide dismutase activity in diabetic rats were restored significantly after the 4 weeks of diosmin treatment. CONCLUSION： Diosmin has shown beneficial effect in preventing the progression of early diabetic neuropathy in rats.

We present here the results of broadband spectral analysis of a low-mass X-ray binary and a black hole candidate 4 U 1957+*** source was observed nine times with the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope A rray(NuSTAR)between September 2018 and November *** these observations,the spectral state of 4 U 1957+11 evolved *** disc dominant spectra are described well with a hot,multicolor disc blackbody with disc temperature varying in the range kT_(in)~1.35-1.86 keV and a non-thermal component having a steep slope(Γ=2-3).A broad Fe emission line feature(5-8 keV)was observed in the spectra of all the *** relativistic disc model was used to study the effect of distance,inclination and the black hole mass on its *** indicate a higher spin for smaller distances and lower black hole *** smaller distances and higher masses,spin is maximum and almost independent of the *** inverse correlation exists between the spin and the spectral hardening factor for all the *** system prefers a moderate spin of about 0.85 for black hole masses between 4-6 M⊙for a 7 kpc distance.

Intermittent androgen deprivation therapy （IADT） is an alternative to continuous androgen deprivation therapy （ADT） in prostate cancer patients with nonmetastatic disease. ADT is associated with numerous side effects such as hot flashes, sexual dysfunction, anemia, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome and premature cardiovascular disease. IADT was developed with the intention of improving the quality of life and to delay progression of prostate cancer to castration resistance. The benefits of slightly improved quality of life by IADT compared to ADT were demonstrated in multiple clinical trials. IADT was noted to be noninferior to ADT in patients with biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer but in studies performed in patients with metastatic prostate cancer, the results were inconclusive. Our recent studies suggested that the administration of 5 alpha-reductase inhibitors during the off-cycle of IADT can significantly prolong the survival of mice bearing androgen-sensitive prostate tumors when off-cycle duration was short. This review discusses the survival benefit of 5 alpha-reductase inhibition in IADT in animal models and the potential translation of this finding into clinic.

Contrasting Productivity and Redox Potential in Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal

Understanding the past and present changes is critical for evaluating the future climatic changes. In order to understand the paleoproductivity and depositional environments of Northern In- dian Ocean, two sediment cores were collected, one each from the Arabian Sea （lat. 16°51.40′N and long. 71°54.37′E, water depth 803 m） and the Bay of Bengal （lat. 13°05.35′N and long. 91°28.21′E, wa- ter depth 3 054 m）. The surface seawater samples indicate higherpCO2 values in Arabian Sea as com- pared to the Bay of Bengal. The sediment organic carbon variations along with sedimentological and other geochemical parameters were studied. Sediment organic carbon varied from 0.5%--4.7% and 0.3%-1.22% in Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, respectively. In Arabian Sea, low productivity, oxic conditions and less intense southwest monsoon prevailed during the deglacial period, whereas productivity has increased from last 16 kyr to the modern age. In the Bay of Bengal, organic carbon decreased from the Last Glacial Maxima （LGM） to the modern age, indicating higher productivity in the past as compared to modern age. Fe was associated with organic carbon in the Bay of Bengal and increased during LGM, showing similar trend to that of organic carbon, indicating that Fe may be the limiting factor for the growth of phytoplankton in the Bay of Bengal in the modern age. In the Bay of Bengal, Mn is enriched during modern age and is depleted during LGM, whereas chromium showed the opposite trend indicating anoxic conditions during the LGM, whereas in Arabian Sea the trends are opposite to the Bay of Bengal.
