Improvements after mod Quad and triangle tilt revision surgical procedures in obstetric brachial plexus palsy

AIM To compare outcomes of our revision surgical operations in obstetric brachial plexus palsy(OBPP) patients to results of conventional operative procedures at other institutions. METHODS We analyzed our OBPP data and identified 10 female and 10 male children aged 2.0 to 11.8 years(average age 6.5 years), who had prior conventional surgical therapies at other clinics. Of the 20 patients, 18 undergone triangle tilt, 2 had only mod Quad. Among 18 patients, 8 had only triangle tilt and 10 had also mod Quad as revision surgeries with us. We analyzed the anatomical improvements and functional modified Mallet statistically before and after a year post-revision *** Pre-revision surgery average modified Mallet score was 12.0 ± 1.5. This functional score was greatly improved to 18 ± 2.3(P < 0.0001) at least one-year after revision surgical procedures. Radiological scores(PHHA and glenoid version) were also improved significantly to 31.9 ± 13.6(P < 0.001),-16.3 ± 11(P < 0.0002), at least one-year after triangle tilt procedure. Their mean pretriangle tilt(yet after other surgeon's surgeries) PHHA, glenoid version and SHEAR were 14.6 ± 21.7,-31.6 ± 19.3 and 16.1 ± 14.7 *** We demonstrate here, mod Quad and triangle tilt assuccessful revision surgical procedures in 20 OBPP patients, who had other surgical treatments at other clinics before presenting to us for further treatment.

Different measurements of the Hubble constant(H_(0))are not consistent,and a tension between the CMB based methods and cosmic distance ladder based methods has been *** from various distance based methods are also *** aggravate the problem,the same cosmological probe(TypeⅠa SNe for instance)calibrated through different methods also provides different values of H_(0).We compare various distance ladder based methods through the already available unique data obtained from the Hubble Space Telescope(HST).Our analysis is based on parametric(t-test)as well as non-parametric statistical methods such as the Mann-Whitney U test and k.lmogorov-Smirnov *** results show that different methods provide different values of H_(0) and the differences are statistically *** biases in the calibration would not account for these differences as the data have been tak.n from a single telescope with a common calibration *** unk.own physical effects or issues with the empirical relations of distance measurement from different probes could give rise to these differences.

This article addresses the nonlinear state estimation problem where the conventional Gaussian assumption is completely ***,the uncertainties in process and measurements are assumed non-Gaussian,such that the maximum correntropy criterion(MCC)is chosen to replace the conventional minimum mean square error ***,the MCC is realized using Gaussian as well as Cauchy k.rnels by defining an appropriate cost *** results demonstrate the superior estimation accuracy of the developed estimators for two nonlinear estimation problems.

The present study describes the floristic composition and dominance pattern of sal forests in Ranchi,Jhark.and,eastern *** was studied in 47 belt transects(509100 m)that had 137 plant species(110 identified and 27 unidentified)belonging to 51 *** family Fabaceae with 17 species(8 *** to subfamily Faboideae,6 *** Caesalpinioideae and 3 *** Mimosoidieae)contributed the most to diversity,followed by Rubiaceae(8 spp.)and Euphorbiaceae(6 spp.).Tree density in sal was inversely related to species *** tree density(C 10 cm GBH)in the studied forests was 397 individuals ha-1,with a basal cover of 262.50 m2 *** plants of conservation concern are Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb,Andrographis paniculata(Burm.f.)Wall,Sterculiaurens Roxb.,Tinospora cordifolia(Willd.)Miers,and Asparagus densiflorus(k.nth)*** had the highest percentage(71%,with percentage deviation from normal life form of?25)followed by therophyte(15%,with percentage deviation?2).Observed percentage deviation from normal life form was much lower(with?2 percentage deviation)in both chamaephytes(8%)and therophytes(15%),suggesting that the studied sal forests are favorable for supporting various plants *** forest management strategies should focus on the increasing demands for different timber and non-timber forest products to conserve the plant diversity of these natural forests.

Back.round: Pediatric burns have a long-term social impact. This is more apparent in a developing country such as India, where their incidence and morbidity are high. The aim of this study was to provide recent prospective epidemiological data on pediatric burns in India and to suggest future preventive strategies. Methods: Children up to 18 years old admitted to the Department of Burns, Plastic&Maxillofacial Surgery, VMMC&Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, between January and December 2014 were included in the study. Data regarding age, sex, etiology, total body surface area (TBSA), circumstances of injury, and clinical assessment were collected. The Mann-Whitney test or k.usk.l-Wallis test or ANOVA was used to compare involved TBSA among various cohort groups accordingly. Univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses were used to determine the predictors of TBSA. Results: There were a total of 475 patients involved in the study, including seven suicidal burns, all of whom were females with a mean age greater than the cohort average. Age, type of burns, mode of injury, presence or absence of inhalation injury, gender, and time of year (quarter) for admission were found to independently affect the TBSA involved. Electrical burns also formed an important number of presenting burn patients, mainly involving teenagers. Several societal issues have come forth, e.g., child marriage, child labor, and lik.ly psychological problems among female children as suggested by a high incidence of suicidal burns. Conclusions: This study also highlights several issues such as overcrowding, lack.of awareness, dangerous cook.ng practices, and improper use of k.rosene oil. There is an emergent need to recognize the problems, formulate strategies, spread awareness, and ban or replace hazardous substances responsible for most burn accidents.

Flume experiments were carried out to study the turbulence and its impact on suspension and segregation of grainsizes under unidirectional flow conditions over the sand-gravel mixture *** components of fluid velocity with fluctuations were measured vertically using 3-D Micro-acoustic Doppler velocimeter(ADV).The theoretical models for velocity and sediment suspension have been developed based on the concept of mixing length that includes the damping effect of turbulence due to sediment suspension in the flow over the sand-gravel mixture *** analysis of segregation of grain-sizes along downstream of the bed has been performed using the principle of unsupervised learning or clustering *** data analysis suggests that there is a progressive downstream fining of sediment sizes with selective depositions of gravels,sand-gravels and sand materials along the stream,which may be segmented into three regions such as,the upstream,the transitional and the downstream *** contribution is relevant to understand the direction of ancient rivers,the bed material character in the river form,sorting process and its role in controlling the sediment flux through landscape.

Acoustic signals play an essential role in machine state monitoring. Efficient processing of real-time machine acoustic signals improves production quality. However, generating semantically useful information from sound signals is an ill-defined problem that exhibits a highly non-linear relationship between sound and subjective perceptions. This paper outlines two neural network.models to analyze and classify acoustic signals emanating from machines:(i) a back.ropagation neural network.(BPNN);and (ii) a convolutional neural network.(CNN). Microphones are used to collect acoustic data for training models from a computer numeric control (CNC) lathe. Numerical experiments demonstrate that CNN performs better than the BP-NN.
