Late Middle Triassic to early Late Triassic insects from Argentina have been previously described from the Bermejo and Cuyana Basins where they have been recovered from the Ischichuca-Los Rastros and Potrerillos-Cacheuta formations, respectively. The insect fauna discussed herein was collected during field studies in 1986/1987 from the Llantenes section （Norian to Rhaetian？ Late Triassic）, which is situated in the Malargiie Basin in southern Mendoza province. The insect remains were found in the upper part of the Llantenes section （Llantenes formation）, which is built up of two coarsening-upwards cycles reflecting a deltaic progradation of a fluvial into a lacustrine environment （lower part）, succeeded by repeated progradatious into a floodplaindominated environment （upper part; with finds of insects, conchostracans, fish remains, plant fragments, and drifted logs）. The new finds represent the youngest Triassic insect records described from Argentina and even from South America in its entirety. There is only one contemporaneous fossil assemblage in Gondwana： in the Ciarence/Moreton Basin （Aberdare Conglomerate; Late Norian） in Australia. The new Triassic insects include an impression of an isolated Mecopterida-like wing （Mendozachorista volkheimeri gen. et sp. nov.; Mendozachoristidae fam. nov.）, coleopteran elytra of the Permosynidae （Ademosyne rosenfeldi sp. nov. and Ademosyne Uantenesensis sp. nov.） and other isolated body fragments. This new Late Triassic entomofauna from Argentina is of considerable importance in the reconstruction of the biotic recovery of continental environments in Gondwana after the catastrophic mass extinction at the P/T boundary.

Extrahepatic right hepatic duct diverticulum: a rare entity

BACKGROUND:Douglas described choledochal cysts in 1852 and Todani proposed an anatomy-based classification in 1977. The classification is the most extensively used,but does not include some rare *** present a case of hepatic duct diverticulum,one of the variations,and discuss its diagnosis and treatment. METHODS:A 57-year-old woman presented with upper abdominal pain and discomfort associated with nausea and *** was finally diagnosed with cholelithiasis and right hepatic duct diverticulum. RESULT:The patient underwent resection of the hepatic duct diverticulum and cholecystectomy,and was asymptomatic 26 months after surgery. CONCLUSIONS:Hepatic duct diverticulum is a rare form of choledochal cyst,not included in Todani’s classification. Todani’s classification including this and other uncommon variations of choledochal cysts must be *** best diagnostic imaging methods and treatment for choledochal cysts must be defined.

The Paraiba do Sul(PSR)and Guandu Rivers(GR)water diversion system(120 km long)is located in the main industrial pole of Brazil and supplies drinking water for 9.4 million people in the metropolitan region of Rio de *** study aims to discern the trace metals dynamics in this complex aquatic *** used a combined approach of geochemical tools such as geochemical partitioning,Zn isotopes signatures,and multivariate *** and Pb concentrations in Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM)and sediments were considerably higher in some *** sediment partition of As,Cr,and Cu revealed the residual fraction(f4)as the main fraction for these elements,indicating low *** and Pb were mostly associated with the exchangeable/carbonate(f1)and the reducible(f2)fractions,respectively,implying a higher susceptibility of these elements to being released from *** isotopic compositions of sediments and SPM fell in a binary mixing source process between lithogenic(δ^(66/64)Zn_(JMC)≈+0.30‰)and anthropogenic(δ^(66/64)Zn_(JMC)≈+0.15‰)end *** lighterδ^(66/64)Zn_(JMC)values accompanied by high Zn concentrations in exchangeable/carbonate fraction(Znf1)enable the tracking of Zn anthropogenic sources in the studied ***,the results indicated that Hg,Pb,and Zn had a dominant anthropogenic origin linked to the industrial activities,while As,Cr,and Cu were mainly associated with lithogenic *** work demonstrates how integrating geochemical tools is valuable for assessing geochemical processes and mixing source effects in anthropized river watersheds.

Physicochemical characterization, the Hirshfeld surface, and biological evaluation of two meloxicam compounding pharmacy samples

Meloxicam(MLX) is an anti-inflammatory drug susceptible to variations and crystalline transitions. In compounding pharmacies, the complete crystallographic evaluation of the raw material is not a routine procedure. We performed a complete crystallographic characterization of aleatory raw MLX samples from compounding pharmacies. X-ray diffraction indicated the presence of two crystalline forms in one sample. DSC experiments suggested that crystallization, or a crystal transition, occurred differently between samples. The fTIR and ~1H NMR spectra showed characteristic assignments.^(13)C solid-state NMR spectroscopy indicated the presence of more than one phase in a sample from pharmacy B. The Hirshfeld surface analysis, with electrostatic potential projection, allowed complete assignment of the UV spectra in ethanol solution. The polymorph I of meloxicam was more active than polymorph III in an experimental model of acute inflammation in mice. Our results highlighted the need for complete crystallographic characterization and the separation of freely used raw materials in compounding pharmacies,as a routine procedure, to ensure the desired dose/effect.

Raman probing of carbon electrode and electrolyte under dynamic conditions is performed here using different aqueous electrolytes to elucidate the fundamental events occurring in electrochemical supercapacitor during charge–discharge *** areal capacitance ranges from 1.54 to 2.31μf cm^(-2)μm and it is determined using different *** findings indicate that the Helmholtz capacitance governs the overall charge-storage process instead of the space charge(quantum)capacitance commonly verified for HOPG electrodes in the range of~3 to 7μf cm^(-2).Molecular dynamics simulations are employed to elucidate the origin of the reversible Raman spectral changes during the charge–discharge processes.A correlation is verified between the reversible Raman shift and the surface excesses of the different ionic species.A theoretical framework is presented to relate the effect of the applied potential on the Raman shift and its correlation with the surface ionic *** is proposed that the Raman shift is governed by the interaction of solvated cations with graphite promoted by polarization *** is the first time that a comparative study on different aqueous electrolyte p H and cation ion size has been performed tracking the Raman spectra change under dynamic polarization conditions and contrasting with comprehensive electrochemistry and dynamic molecular simulations *** study shines lights onto the charge-storage mechanism with evidence of Kohn anomaly reduction in the carbon electrode during the reversible adsorption/desorption and insertion/extraction of ionic species.

Esophagogastric junction outflow obstruction successfully treated with laparoscopic Heller myotomy and Dor fundoplication: first case report in the literature

BACKGROUND Esophagogastric junction outflow obstruction(EGJOO) is a rare syndrome,characterized by an elevation of the integrated relaxation pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter, not accompanied by alterations in esophageal motility that may lead to the criteria for achalasia. We were unable to find any prior report of the combination of Heller myotomy with anterior partial fundoplication(Dor) as the treatment for EGJOO. We herein report a case of EGJOO treated with laparoscopic Heller myotomy combined with Dor *** SUMMARY A 26-year-old man presented with a 3-year history of solid dysphagia and a 30-kg weight loss. He was treated with oral nifedipine, isosorbide, and omeprazole,without resolution of symptoms. An upper gastrointestinal series(barium swallow) revealed a "bird's beak" sign. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy was positive for Los Angeles grade A peptic esophagitis. High-resolution esophageal manometry was compatible with EGJOO. Esophageal pH monitoring showed pathological acid reflux both in orthostatic and decubitus position. An 8-cm laparoscopic Heller myotomy combined with an anterior 220° Dor fundoplication was performed. Solid diet was introduced on postoperative day 2, and the patient was discharged home the same day. At 17-mo follow-up, he reported no symptoms. Barium swallow was compatible with complete radiologic *** esophageal manometry and upper endoscopy showed normal findings 9 mo after the *** Surgical treatment with Heller myotomy and Dor fundoplication is a potential treatment option for EGJOO refractory to medical treatment.

National assessment of the evolution of forest fragmentation in Mexico

This paper presents assessments of the fragmentation of the temperate and tropical forests in Mexico at the national level for two dates 1993 and *** study was based on land use and vegetation cover data sets scale 1：250,*** broad forest types（Temperate forests and Tropical forests） and five more specific forest types（Broadleaf forests,and Coniferous forests;Tropical Dry Deciduous forests,Tropical Sub-evergreen forests,and Tropical Evergreen forests） were defined to conduct the *** 3.3 was used to estimate nine metrics of the spatial pattern of the forests for each forest type and date *** results indicate that the land cover transitions that have occurred between 1993 and 2002 have resulted in more isolated forest patches with simpler shapes in both the Temperate and Tropical *** remaining Tropical forest patches have become smaller and more *** contrast,the remaining Temperate forest patches are fewer and on average *** the more specific forest types defined in this study,the Broadleaf forests have the highest indicators of *** these forests are usually embedded or adjacent to Coniferous *** more concern for conservation purposes are the high values of fragmentation metrics found for the Tropical Evergreen forests and Tropical Dry Deciduous forests,because these forest types are usually surrounded by non-forest land covers or anthropogenic land uses.

The use of orthobiologics as a novel therapy for the treatment of numerous musculoskeletal disorders has increased considerably over the past ***,there are multiple alternatives available as suitable treatments;however,the use of autologous blood-derived products such as platelet-rich plasma(PRP),bone marrow aspirate(BMA)and BMA concentrate(BMAC),specifically,is *** many investigations attempted to demonstrate the effectiveness of these therapies,even with positive results,the literature lacks standardized protocols and overall accuracy in study designs,which leads to variance and difficulty in reproducibility of *** efficacy of PRP for the treatment of cartilage,bone and muscle tissues is well *** BMAC has generated optimistic results for the same purposes,its applicability in clinical trials is still relatively recent when compared to *** products demonstrate the potential to set forth reparative processes,each in their own distinct *** combination of these biological products has been previously proposed,yet little is known about their *** indicates that growth factor,cytokine,and chemokine profiles seen in both PRP and BMAC vary but are likely to work synergistically to enhance musculoskeletal *** products seem to work well without PRP;however,the addition of PRP to BMAC has been shown to act as a rich and natural source of culture medium for stem cells located either peripherally or in the bone marrow ***,additional variables associated with the use of BMAC and PRP in orthopedics must be further evaluated in order to consolidate the efficacy of this therapeutic strategy.
