Background: The number of older people is increasing. Many of them expect to maintain a rich social life and to continue driving at an older age. Objective: The present study investigates the mechanisms behind self-regulation and driving cessation in order to suggest development of support systems to prolong older drivers’ safe mobility. Method: Three focus groups were conducted with 19 older active drivers aged 65+ who were divided according to annual mileage driven. Results: A content analysis revealed broad self-regulatory behaviour as already reported in the literature, e.g., avoiding driving at rush hour and at night. The participants also reported difficulty in finding the way to their final destination and an increasing need to plan their travelling. co-piloting was a behaviour applied by couples to cope with difficulties encountered in traffic. A large part of the discussion was focused on emerging feelings of stress, anxiety and fear when driving in recent years, a feeling induced by external factors e.g., other road users’ behaviour, traffic density or high speed. Apart from health problems, high levels of stress could explain driving cessation, especially for women. An increased feeling of safety and comfort could be achieved by an increased use of support systems specifically designed to respond to older drivers’ needs. conclusion: Support systems for older drivers should increase comfort and decrease their stress levels. New systems, such as co-pilot function and more developed Global Positioning System (GPS) supporting of the entire travel from door to door, should be developed to respond to the market needs.

Phasor measurement units(PMUs)are fundamental tools in the applications of modern power systems,where synchronized phasor estimations are *** accuracy and dynamic performance requirements for phasor,frequency,and rate of change of frequency(ROcOF)estimations are established in the IEEE Std.c37.118.1-2011 along with the IEEE Std.c37.118.1 a-2014,where two PMU performances are suggested:P class filters for applications requiring fast response and M class filters for applications requiring high rejection to aliased *** this paper,a methodology to design new phasor estimators that satisfy the P class and M class requirements in PMUs is *** proposed methodology is based on finite impulse response filters,brick-wall filters,and complex filter design concepts,where frequency range,time performance,harmonic rejection and out-of-band interference requirements are considered in its design.A comparative analysis using the reference model given by the IEEE Std.c37.118.1 is *** results show the effectiveness of the phasor estimators under steady-state and dynamic conditions according to the PMU standard,making them suitable tools for applications in power systems.

Phospho-olivine pristine LiMnPO4/c and yttrium-substituted LiMn1-xYxPO4/c(x=0,0.01,0.03,0.05)were synthesized by a solution combustion *** effects of Y-doped on structure,morphology and electrochemical performances were *** powder X-ray diffraction pattern,all substituted materials adopt an identical structure to that of the LiMnPO4 olivine structure,suggesting that the yttrium ion was well inco rporated into the crystal lattice,without any changes in the host crystal *** electrochemical impedance spectroscopy provides clearly that yttrium-substituting reduces the charge transfer impedance and improves the lithium ion diffusion through the *** x=0.01,the material shows an excellent capacity and stability during charge/discharge *** initial specific discharge capacity can reach up to 156.84 mAh/g at c/20,with a coulombic efficiency of about 96.11%,which is 14%higher than that of the pristine *** results confirm that the cyclic stability and the electrochemical performances of LiMnPO4/c are highly improved by Y-doping.

Fluorinated non-fullerene acceptors(NFAs) usually have planar backbone and a higher tendency to crystallize compared to their non-fluorinated counterparts, which leads to enhanced charge mobility in organic solar cells(OScs). However, this selforganization behavior may result in excessive phase separation with electron donors and thereby deteriorate device ***, we demonstrate an effective approach to tune the molecular organization of a fluorinated NFA(INPIc-4 F), and its phase separation with the donor PBDB-T, by varying the casting solvent. A prolonged film drying time encourages the crystallization of INPIc-4 F into spherulites and consequently results in excessive phase separation, leading to a low device power conversion efficiency(PcE) of 8.1%. contrarily, a drying time leads to fine mixed domains with inefficient charge transport properties,resulting in a moderate device PcE of 11.4%. An intermediate film drying time results in the formation of face-on π-π stacked PBDB-T and INPIc-4 F domains with continuous phase-separated networks, which facilitates light absorption, exciton dissociation as well as balanced charge transport towards the electrode, and achieves a remarkable PcE of 13.1%. This work provides a rational guide for optimizing the molecular ordering of NFAs and electron donors for high device efficiency.

Statin use and cognitive function in middle-aged adults with type 1 diabetes

AIM To test associations between statin use and cognitive impairment in adults with childhood-onset type 1 diabetes(T1D).METHODS In 2010-13, n = 108 middle-aged participants from ongoing observational Pittsburgh Epidemiology of Diabetes complications Study underwent neurocognitive assessment(mean age and T1 D duration of 49 and 41 years, respectively). All were diagnosed with childhoodonset(i.e., prior to age 18) T1 D between 1950 and 1980 and were seen within one year of diagnosis at children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Self-reported statin use(yes/no and if yes, name of statin) was collected biennially from parent study baseline(1986-1988) to time of neurocognitive testing. Logistic regression models tested associations between statin use groups and cognitive impairment(defined as having two or more cognitive test scores 1.5SD or worse than published norms) while linear regression models tested associations between statin use groups and cognitive domain z-scores(domains: Verbal IQ, memory, executive function, psychomotor speed, and visuo-construction). All models controlled for education and age. To address confounding by indication, models were repeated using a propensity score for statin *** Of the 108 participants, 51 reported never using statins. Median duration of statin use among the 57 ever users was 6 years. These 57 ever statin users were split to create two groups(≤ or > median years of statin use): 1-6 years(n = 25), and 7-12 years(n = 32). compared with never users, using statins 1-6 years tripled the odds of cognitive impairment(OR = 3.16; 95%cI: 0.93-10.72; P = 0.06) and using statins 7-12 years almost quintupled the odds of cognitive impairment(OR = 4.84; 95%cI: 1.63-14.44; P = 0.005). compared with never users, using statins 1-6 or 7-12 years was related to worse performance in the memory domain(β =-0.52; P = 0.003, and-0.39; P = 0.014, respectively). context: Preliminary screening has been undertaken by woody species of Tamaulipan thornscrub for wood density and its utilization northeastern Mexico for different purposes and to find possible relationship of density with wood fibre characteristics. This technique can be used in the selection of species with high wood density for possible utility. Aims: It is to determine the variability in wood density and in fiber cell morphology and its length and among wood species of the Tamaulipan thornscrub, northeastern Mexico. Methods: Wood density and wood fibres are characterized in these woody species following standard methodology. Results: The results reveal large variability in wood density and in fibre cell morphology h. The species have been classified on the basis of wood density and its fibber cell morphology and has been recommended for their possible utilization for different purposes. conclusions: Species desirable for strong furniture making, paper pulp, soft furniture, fence etc. can be selected on the basis of fibre length to breadth ratios as strong fibres for furniture and fibre cells with broad lumen and thin cell wall use for fabrication of paper pulp and other utilities.
