This review provides an updated account on the current methods,principles and mechanism of action of therapies for the detection of molecular markers of therapeutic importance in the prognosis of breast cancer progression and recurrence,which includes estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR)and human epidermal growth factor receptor2(HER2).Indeed,hormone-receptors namely,ER,PR,proto-oncogene HER2 are the basic molecular markers that are recognized and established prognostic factors and predictors of response,for therapeutic *** markers can be detected by using immunohistochemistry(IHC)and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH),which are established,faster and cost effective detection *** molecular markers along with clinicopathological prognostic parameters give the best prediction of the prognosis of cancer recurrence and ***,hormone receptors and HER2 as molecular markers are of prime therapeutic importance and have the capability to take part in future drug development techniques.

Objective:To record surveillance,antibiotic resistance of uropathogens of hospitalized patients over a period of 18 ***:Urine samples from wards and cabins were used for isolating urinary tract infection(UTI)-causing bacteria that were cultured on suitable selective media and identified by biochemical tests;and their antibiograms were ascertained by Kirby-Bauer's disc diffusion method,in each 6-month interval of the study period,using 18 antibiotics of five different ***:From wards and cabins,1 245 samples were collected,from which 996 strains of bacteria belonging to 11 species were isolated,during April 2011 to *** Gram-positive,Staphylococcus aureus(***)and Enterococcus faecalis(***),and nine Gram-negative bacteria,Acinetobacter baumannii,Citrobactcr sp.,Escherichia coli,Enterobacter aerogenes,Klebsiella *** oxytoca,Proteus mirabilis,Proteus vulgaris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were *** *** and *** were vancomycin resistant,and resistant-strains of all pathogens increased in each 6-month period of ***,all Gram-negatives were resistant to nitrofurantoin and co-trimoxazole,the most preferred antibiotics of empiric therapy for ***:Antibiograms of 11 UTI-causing bacteria recorded in this study indicated moderately higher numbers of strains resistant to each antibiotic studied,generating the fear of precipitating fervent episodes in public health particularly with bacteria,Acinetobacter baumannii,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae and ***,vancomycin resistance in strains of *** and *** is a matter of concern.

There were 2.3 million new cases of breast cancer registered in 2020,establishing it as the world’s leading *** regular exposure of breast cells to circulating ovarian sex hormones may contribute to cancer growth at all stages.A literature review was performed by downloading research articles from PubMed Central,with keywords such as breast cancer,hormone exposure in breast cancer,estrogen/progesterone exposure in breast cancer,and breast cancer risk *** breast cancer is a hormone-related disease,several factors that influence hormonal conditions or are indicators of alterations in hormonal conditions have been linked with the risk for breast ***,an elevated risk for breast cancer has been related to reproductive history and exogenous estrogen exposure because they may amplify lifetime estrogen *** these factors address the total cumulative exposure to circulating ovarian sex hormones that a female is vulnerable to in her lifetime.A healthy lifestyle,a more extended breastfeeding period,and regular physical activity may help lower one’s *** review summarizes the factors that increase the risk of estrogen/progesterone(hormone receptor)receptor-positive breast cancer due to overall cumulative estrogen exposure,with an understanding of estrogen biosynthesis mechanisms and estrogen receptor signaling.

Probit Analysis of Carbamate-Pesticide-Toxicity at Soil-Water Interface to N_2-Fixing Cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp.

Toxicity-data of two carbamate insecticides, carbaryl and carbofuran, and three fungicides, ziram, zineb and mancozeb with rice-field N2-fixing cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp., obtained by in vitro growth and at soil-water interface, were analyzed by the probit method. Growth enhancing concentration, no-observed effective concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration, the highest permissive concentration and lethal concentration100 （LCloo） were determined experimentally. The LC^o values of carbaryl, carbofuran, ziram, zineb and mancozeb in N2-fixing liquid medium were 56.2, 588.8, 0.07, 4.2 and 3.4 IJg/mL, respectively, whereas the corresponding LCloo values were 100.0, 1500.0, 0.17, 25.0 and 9.0 IJg/mL, respectively. The LC50 values of these pesticides in succession in N2-fixing agar medium were 44.7, 239.9, 0.07, 1.8 and 2.3 IJg/mL, respectively, whereas the corresponding LC100 values were 100.0, 600.0, 0.17, 10.0 and 7.0 IJg/mL, respectively. Similar results with nitrate supplemented liquid and agar media indicated that nitrate supplementation had toxicity reducing effect. The LCso and LC^oo values of toxicity in the N2-fixing liquid medium at soil-water interface were 91.2 and 200.0 IJg/mL for carbaryl, 2 317 and 6 000 pg/mL for carbofuran, 0.15 and 0.50 pg/mL for ziram, 16.4 and 50.0 pg/mL for zineb, and 7.2 and 25.0 pg/mL for mancozeb, respectively. Each LC^oo value at soil- water interface with a pesticide was significantly higher than its corresponding LCloo value at liquid/agar media. It can be concluded that, under the N2-fixing conditions, the cyanobacterium tolerated higher levels of each pesticide at soil-water interface.

Antibacterial efficacy of five medicinal plants against multidrug-resistant enteropathogenic bacteria infecting under-5 hospitalized children

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate in vitro antibacterial effectiveness of five medicinal plants used by an Indian aborigine, against 8 multidrug-resistant （MDR） enteropathogenic bacteria isolated from clinical samples of under-5 hospitalized children. METHODS： Antibiotic sensitivity patterns of eight clinically isolated strains of enteropathogenic bacteria, Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella paratyphi, S. typhi, Shigella dysenteriae, S. sonnei and Vibrio cholerae were assessed by disc-diffusion method. Antibacterial activities of 8 solvent-extracts of leaves and bark of five medicinal plants were monitored by the agar-well diffusion method. The microbroth dilution method was used to assess minimum inhibitory concentration （MIC） and minimum bactericidal concentration （MBC）. Qualitative phytochemical analyses of active plant extracts were carried out. RESULTS： Ethanol, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of Holarrhena antidysenterica leaf tissue were most effective against 8 MDR pathogens in vitro. Similarly, acetone, ethanol and methanol extracts of Terminalia alata leaf tissue; chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of Terminalia aquna leaf tissue and ethyl acetate, ethanol and methanol extracts of Paederia foetida leaf tissue were most effective in inhibiting in vitro growth of the 8 MDR enteropathogens. Ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of H. antidysenterica bark tissue; acetone, ethanol and methanol extracts of T. alata bark tissue and acetone, ethanol and methanol extracts of T. arjuna bark tissue were most effective in controlling enteropathogen growth. The minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration values of the 3 most antimicrobial leaf and bark extracts from the five plants were in the range of 1.56 to 50 mg/mL. CONCLUSION： These 5 plants exhibited in vitro control over a cohort of 8 enteropathogenic bacteria strains isolated from clinical samples.

Soil nitrogen balance assessment (SNBA) serves as an effective tool for estimating the magnitude of nitrogen loss/gain of the agro-eco systems and to appraise their sustainability. SNBA brings forth awareness of soil fertility problems, besides providing information relating to the resultant release of nitrogen into the environment consequent to agricultural practices. Quantitative information relating to nitrogen escape into the environment through such exercises can be gainfully utilized for identification of causative factors, enhancing fertilizer use efficiency and formulating programmes aimed at plugging N leakages. An overview of nitrogen balance approaches and methodologies is presented. A deeper understanding and insight into the agro-eco systems provided by the SNBA exercises can lay the basis for the formulation of effective agronomic interventions and policies aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and a benign environment.

Catatonia,originally conceptualised by Kahlbaum in 1868,is a neuropsychiatric condition that has been found to occur concomitantly with several organic and psychiatric *** from the era of Kraepelin and Bleuler,this condition was faultily linked with schizophrenia alone;however,over time,greater associations have been found between catatonia and mood *** the availability of several reports supporting this finding,there is a relative paucity of studies that specifically focus on catatonia to be the first symptom manifestation heralding a subsequent mood *** addition,there is scant literature to determine whether there are specific presentations of catatonia that show greater associations with mood disorders and whether these signs and symptoms recur in a stereotypical fashion in the subsequent mood episodes in the lifetime of an *** hereby report two cases with a diagnosis of mood disorders(bipolar disorder and recurrent depressive disorder)who had catatonia as the initial symptom not only at presentation but also at subsequent *** report emphasises that recurrent catatonia can be the initial clinical manifestation of an underlying mood episode,which appears otherwise masked behind the catatonic *** catatonic symptoms can be interestingly similar in all the subsequent episodes.A detailed clinical evaluation is thus warranted after catatonia has been duly treated to provide a holistic management.
