Inversion of radiative transfer model for retrieval of wheat biophysical parameters from broadband reflectance measurements

This study describes the retrieval of wheat biophysical variables of leaf chlorophyll(Cab),leaf area index(LAI),canopy chlorophyll(CCC),and leaf wetness(Cw)from broadband reflectance data corresponding to IRS LISS-3(Linear Imaging Self Scanner)sensor by inversion of PROSAIL5B canopy radiative transfer *** data of wheat crop,grown under different treatments,were measured by hand-held spectroradiometer and later integrated to LISS-3 reflectance using its band-wise relative spectral response *** inversion techniques were used and their performance was compared using different statistical parameters and target *** inversion techniques tried were:a look up table with best solution(LUT-I),a look up table with mean of best 10%solutions(LUT-II)and an artificial neural network(ANN).All the techniques could estimate the biophysical variables by capturing variability in their observed values,though accuracy of estimation varied among the three *** diagram clearly depicted the superiority of LUT-II over the other two approaches indicating that a mean of best 10%solutions is a better strategy while ANN was worst performer showing highest bias for all the *** all the three inversion techniques,the general order of retrieval accuracy was LAI>Cab>CCC>*** range of Cw was very narrow and none of the techniques could estimate variations in *** most of the cases,the parameters were underestimated by model *** best identified LUT-II technique was then applied to retrieve wheat LAI from IRS LISS-3 satellite image of 5-Feb-2012 in Sheopur *** comparison with ground observations showed that the RMSE of LAI retrieval was about 0.56,similar to that observed in ground *** findings of this study may help in refining the protocol for generating operational crop biophysical products from IRS LISS-3 or similar sensors.

The present research work attempted to delineate and characterize the reservoir facies from the Dawson Canyon Formation in the Penobscot field,Scotian *** integrated study of instantaneous frequency,P-impedance,volume of clay and neutron-porosity attributes,and structural framework was done to unravel the Late Cretaceous depositional system and reservoir facies distribution patterns within the study *** strikes were found in the EW and NEE-SWW directions indicating the dominant course of tectonic activities during the Late Cretaceous period in the region.P-impedance was estimated using model-based seismic *** properties such as the neutron porosity(NPHI)and volume of clay(VCL)were estimated using the multilayer perceptron neural network with high ***,a combination of low instantaneous frequency(15-30 Hz),moderate to high impedance(7000-9500 gm/cc*m/s),low neutron porosity(27%-40%)and low volume of clay(40%-60%),suggests fair-to-good sandstone development in the Dawson Canyon *** calibration with the welllog data,it is found that further lowering in these attribute responses signifies the clean sandstone facies possibly containing *** present study suggests that the shale lithofacies dominates the Late Cretaceous deposition(Dawson Canyon Formation)in the Penobscot field,Scotian *** faults and overlying shale facies provide structural and stratigraphic seals and act as a suitable hydrocarbon entrapment mechanism in the Dawson Canyon Formation's *** present research advocates the integrated analysis of multi-attributes estimated using different methods to minimize the risk involved in hydrocarbon exploration.

Mercury emissions and partitioning from Indian coal-fired power plants

In India coal combustion is the single largest source of emission of mercury which is a widespread persistent global toxicant,travelling across international borders through air and *** a party to the Minamata convention,India aims to monitor and reduce Hg emissions and stricter norms are introduced for mercury emissions from power plants(30μg/Nm 3 for flue gas in stack).This paper presents the results obtained during the experimental studies performed on mercury emissions at four coal-fired and one lignite-fired power plants in *** mercury concentration in the feed coal varied between 0.12-0.27 mg/*** the mercury mass balance,significant proportion of feed coal mercury has been found to be associated with fly ash,whereas bottom ash contained very low mercury.80%-90%of mercury was released to air through stack ***,for circulating fluidised bed boiler burning lignite,about 64.8%of feed mercury was found to get captured in the fly ash and only 32.4%was released to *** mercury emission factor was found to lie in the range of 4.7-15.7 mg/GJ.

Textural and geochemical characteristics of off shore sediment of North Bay of Bengal:A statistical approach for marine metal pollution

Metal pollution study on sediments of North Bay of Bengal sediments presented in this paper is based on existing Lithostratigraphy of upstream,mineralogy and geochemical analysis of 42 sediment *** statistical analysis identifies the metal pollution as well as its apparent source in the off shore *** were analyzed for grain size,organic content and heavy metals(Fe,Mn,Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb,Cd,Zn and Co) using the sequential extraction method to evaluate geochemical processes and pollution *** an effort to surmise anthropogenic input,several approaches including classification by quantitative indexes such as enrichment factor,contamination factor,degree of pollution,pollution load index and geo accumulation index,were *** speciation results indicate high%of Cd in exchangeable fraction of Mahanadi transect sediments where as a considerable amount of oxidizable fraction of Cr was detected at *** indexes place North Bay of Bengal under moderately polluted zone due to high level of *** of metals to Fe indicated relatively high enrichment factors for Cd and *** analysis identified seven possible types of geochemical associations where sediment pH plays a major role for the heavy metal *** higher Cd concentration in exchangeable fraction as well as the higher EF for Cd and Cr present in sediment may pose a risk of secondary water pollution under slightest disturbance in the geo-chemistry of *** study with available data of near costal zones and upstream stratigraphy revealed that open cast mining,overburden dumping,mineral based industrial effluents were the major source of pollution for catchment area *** of Bengal is likely to face a serious threat of metal pollution with the present deposition rates unless rigorous pollution control norms are applied.

Evaluation of soil loss estimation using the RUSLE model and SCS-CN method in hillslope mining areas

Mining operations result in the generation of barren land and spoil heaps which are subject to high erosion rate during the rainy season. The present study uses the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) and SCS-CN (Soil Conservation Service - Curve Number) process to estimate in Kiruburu and Meghahatuburu mining sites areas. The geospatial model of annual average soil loss rate was determined by integrating environmental variables parameters in a raster pixels-based GIS framework. GIS layers with, rainfall passivity and runoff erosivity (R), soil erodibility (K), slope length and steepness (LS), cover management(C) and conservation practice (P) factors were calculated to determine their effects on annual soil erosion in the study area. The coefficient of determination (r2) was 0.834, which indicates a strong correlation of soil loss with runoff and rainfall. Sub -watersheds 5,9,10 and 2 experienced high level of highly runoff. Average annual soil loss was calculated (30*30 m raster grid cell) to determine the critical soil loss areas (Sub-watershed 9 and 5). Total soil erosion area was classified into five class, slight (10,025 ha), moderate (3125 ha), high (973 ha), very high (260 ha) and severe (53 ha). The resulting map shows greatest soil erosion of >40 t h-1 y-1 (severe) through connection to grassland, degraded and open forestry on the erect mining side-escutcheon. The Landsat pan sharpening image and DGPS survey field data were used in the verification of soil erosion results.

Simplistic hydrothermal synthesis approach for fabricating photoluminescent carbon dots and its potential application as an efficient sensor probe for toxic lead(II)ion detection

The past decade has witnessed a variety of members of the carbon family along with exposure of carbon dots due to their magnificent properties in sensing,bioimaging,catalytic applications,biomedical fields,and so ***,we report the simple hydrothermal method to fabricate photoluminescent doped carbon quantum dots for the detection of noxious lead(II)***(II)ion is very venomous for both the environment and human health for which its detection is demanded area in the research *** as-prepared carbon dots show excellent photostability,low toxicity and significant photoluminescence properties along with good water *** with these properties,carbon dots have a quantum yield of approximately 15%.In the practical field of application,these carbon dots have been used as sensing probes for the detection of lead(II)ions with a detection limit of 60 nmol·L^(–1).The fluorescence intensity of carbon dots was remarkably quenched in the presence of the lead(II)ion selectively among all the tested metal ***,we have studied the Stern–Volmer relationship for lead(II)quenching along with the explanation of the probable quenching *** of the doped carbon dots in heavy metal ions sensing in an environmental sample was demonstrated.

Comparative analysis of multi-criteria probabilistic FR and AHP models for forest fire risk(FFR)mapping in Melghat Tiger Reserve(MTR)forest

A comparative study of Frequency Ratio(FR)and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)models are performed for forest fire risk(FFR)mapping in Melghat Tiger Reserve forest,central *** of FFR depends on various hydrometeorological parameters altitude,slope,aspect,topographic position index,normalized differential vegetation index,rainfall,air temperature,land surface temperature,wind speed,distance to settlements,and distance by road are integrated using a GIS *** results from FR and AHP show similar *** FR model was significantly higher accurate(overall accuracy of 81.3%,kappa statistic 0.78)than the AHP model(overall accuracy 79.3%,kappa statistic 0.75).The FR model total forest fire risk areas were classified into five classes:very low(7.1%),low(22.2%),moderate(32.3%),high(26.9%),and very high(11.5%).The AHP fire risk classes were very low(6.7%),low(21.7%),moderate(34.0%),high(26.7%),and very high(10.9%).Sensitivity analyses were performed for AHP and FR *** results of the two different models are compared and justified concerning the forest fire sample points(Forest Survey of India)and burn images(2010-2016).These results help in designing more effective fire management plans to improve the allocation of resources across a landscape framework.

Histological difference in ligament flavum between degenerative lumbar canal stenosis and non-stenotic group:A prospective,comparative study

BACKGROUND Ligament flavum(LF)hypertropy is the main etiopathogenesis of lumbar canal stenosis(LCS).The purely elastic LF undergoes a morphological adaptation including a reduction in the elastic fibers and a consequent increase in the collagen content,fibrosis,cicatrization,and ***,the morphometric analysis can delineate the LF in patients with LCS from those without LCS,which would help in better understanding LCS *** To compare the histopathological changes in LF between the degenerative LCS and non-stenotic(non-LCS)*** The present prospective study was conducted in 82 patients who were divided into two groups,namely LCS and *** details of the patients such as duration of symptoms,level of involvement,and number of segments were *** LF obtained from both groups was histopathologically examined for the fibrosis score,elastic fiber degeneration,calcification,and chondroid *** details included a change in elastin and collagen percentages,elastin/collagen ratio,elastic fiber fragmentation,and ligamentocyte *** parameters were compared between the two groups by using the independent t test,Chi-square test,and Pearson’s correlation *** Out of 82 cases,74 were analysed,34 in LCS and 40 in non-LCS *** mean±SD age of presentation in LCS and non-LCS group was 49.2±8.9 and 43.1±14.3 *** LCS group(n=34)exhibited significant differences in fibrosis(P=0.002),elastic fiber degeneration(P=0.01),%elastic fragmentation(66.5±16.3 vs 29.5±16.9),%elastic,content(26.9±6.7 vs 34.7±8.4),%collagen content(63.6±10.4 vs 54.9±6.4),reduction of elastic/collagen(0.4±0.1 vs 0.6±0.1),and ligamentocyte number(39.1±19.1 vs 53.5±26.9)as compared to non-LCS group(n=40).The calcification(P=0.08)and Pearson’s correlation between duration and loss of elastin was not *** difference in LF morphology is consistent in patient’s≥40 years of age among the groups as found in

Ammoxidation of 3-Picoline over V-Mo-P Oxide Catalyst Prepared from 11-Molybdo-l-Vanado Phosphoric Acid

V-Mo-P oxide catalyst system was directly prepared from ll-molybdo-l-vanado phosphoric acid by thermal decomposition. Supported V-Mo-P oxide catalysts were prepared by wet impregnation method. Catalysts were characterized by FTIR （Fourier transform infrared）, XRD （X-ray diffraction） and TPD （temperature programmed desorption）. The catalytic activity of V-Mo-P oxide catalysts were investigated for vapour phase ammoxidation of 3-picoline. The unsupported catalyst showed 92.1% yield where as V-Mo-P oxide/HZSM-5 showed the highest yield （80.4%） amongst the supported catalysts.
