Chromosomal aberrations and nucleic acids systems affected by some Egyptian medicinal plants used in treating female pregnant diabetic rats

The influences of medicinal plants Juniperus Phoenicea (Araar), hyphaene thebaica (Doum), An-astatica hierochuntica (Kafta) and Cleome droserifolia (Sammo) as antidiabetic agents were investigated using female pregnant albino rats. Female rats were injected with 60 mg/kg b.w. alloxan to induce diabe-tes. Diabetic rats treated orally with the methanol extracts of tested plants till the 19 day of gestation. The present studies include the frequencies of chro-mosomal aberrations and nucleic acid system of liver in the female pregnant rats and their embryos. The results showed that injection of alloxan caused highly significant increase in chromosomal aberrations as well as in blood glucose levels as a result of diabetes in pregnant females. It also caused a high incidence of chromosomal deviation in embryos and decreased the liver soluble protein contents of female rats and their embryos. These effects in alloxanized animals were treated and improved by ingestion of the methanol extracts of the tested plants (Araar, Doum, Kafta and Somma) in which under their treatments, the inceased level of blood glu-cose of diabetic rats was deceased. Ingestion with the plants methanolic extracts improved and normalized the effects of diabetes in nucleic acids values of liver tissues. These were accompanied with nucleases (RNAase and DNAase) activities. The inhibited ac-tivities of both DNA ase and RNA ase of pregnant rats and their embryos were stimulated and read-justed around the normal values. Also administration of the plants methanol extracts decreased the per-centage of chromosomal aberrations in the female rats and embryos. It is concluded that there are some biochemical dynamics which might occur in the metabo-lism of glucose, nucleic acids and proteins in order to prevent or to reduce the oxidative stress of diabetes by flavonoides treatment.

The damage risk evaluation of Aphis gossypii on wheat by host shift and fitness comparison in wheat and cotton

Aphids are considered as one of the key pests for wheat production worldwide. Major aphid species that infest wheat in China include Sitobion avenae, Rhopalosiphum padi, Schizaphis graminum and Metopolophium dirhodum. however, during our wheat field survey in Wenshang County of Shangdong＇Province, China, we observed that Aphis gossypii can feed on wheat. The damage risk of A. gossypii on wheat was assessed using host shift method. A population of A. gossypii collected from a wheat field in 2015 and another population reared on cotton under laboratory conditions for a decade without exposure to insecticides were used in the study. The results of host shift demonstrated that the A. gossypfi colony from wheat has not yet developed wheat specialization. Moreover, the assessment of A. gossypii fitness on wheat and cotton showed that fecundity and net reproductive rate of A. gossypii population fed on wheat was significantly higher comparing to the population fed on cotton, whether the initial host of A. gossypii population was wheat or cotton. This study raises a warning that the cotton aphid has potential to establish well on wheat and it may cause significant effects under specific circumstances. Therefore, future studies are required to evaluate the effects of A. gossypfi on wheat production.

Fabrication, Microstructure, Thermal and electrical Properties of Copper heat Sink Composites

Copper as well as copper base composites reinforced with coated and uncoated 1 wt% diamond, graphite particles or short carbon fibers are prepared by powder metallurgy process. The reinforcement particles were encapsulated with silver as well as copper layer by using the electroless deposition technique to investigate the influence of the reinforcement surface coating on the microstructure, density, electrical and thermal properties of the sintered samples. The coated and the uncoated powders were cold compacted at 600 MPa, and then sintered at 1173 K (900°C) for 2 h under hydrogen atmosphere. The phase composition, morphology and microstructure of the prepared powders as well as the copper base sintered composites were investigated using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and Scanning electron Microscope (SEM) equipped with an Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS) respectively. The density of the sintered composites was measured by Archimedes method. The copper base consolidated composites had a density up to 96% and the reinforcement coated particles were distributed uniformly within the copper matrix better than the uncoated one. The electrical resistivity at room temperature and the heat transfer conduction of the produced samples were measured in a temperature range between 323 K (50°C) and 393 K (120°C). The results observed that the sintered materials prepared from the coated powder have lower electrical resistivity than the sintered materials prepared from the mixed powders. On the other hand the thermal conductivity values were calculated using the heat transfer conduction values by means of the Fourier formula. The results observed that the thermal conductivity of copper is (391 W/m·K), 1 wt% diamond/Cu is (408 W/m·K), 1 wt% graphite coated silver/Cu is (393 W/m·K), 1 wt% Cu coated short carbon fiber/Cu is (393 W/m·K), graphite/Cu is (383 W/m·K) and short carbon fiber/Cu is (382 W/m·K). Effect of Green Coffee on Cisplatin Induced Renal Apoptosis in Adult Male Albino Rats

Background: Green coffee as a functional food has an antioxidant effect, which can reduce the cancer incidence, promote weight-loss and improve glucose and lipid metabolism, as well as anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Objective: Assessing the effect of green coffee administration on experimental cisplatin induced renal apoptosis in adult male albino rats of local strain. Design: Randomized Block Design was used. Materials and Methods: Forty adult male albino rats of local strain were randomly divided into four groups of 10 animals each. G1: control negative group was received isotonic saline (0.5 ml, i.p.) for 30 consecutive days, G2: sham operated group mice were received green coffee extract in water (40 mg/kg/day) for 30 consecutive days, animals of G3 and G4 were administered cisplatin (8 mg/kg/day, i.p.) at 10th day, which is well known to produce significant nephrotoxicity in rats. Animals in G3 were received green coffee extract in water (40 mg/kg/day) and G4 was received isotonic normal saline (0.5 ml, i.p.) for 30 consecutive days. All rats were sacrificed after 30 days and blood was withdrawn for biochemical examinations of kidney function tests (blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid). Kidneys were removed for determination of renal oxidative stress markers (h2O2) biochemically and caspase-3 by Immunohistochemical examination. Results: Cisplatin administration was associated with significant higher levels of BUN, creatinine, uric acid and h2O2 as compared with normal control group. Green coffee administration in cisplatin-induced renal apoptosis groups produced significant lower levels of BUN, creatinine, uric acid and h2O2 (24.4 ± 4.14, 1.730 ± 0.2830, 5.50 ± 0.850 and 0.51 ± 0.12 respectively) as compared with cisplatin-induced renal apoptosis group not administrated green coffee (27.4 ± 6, 2.04 ± .31, 7.00 ± 1.25 and 1.1 ± 0.16 respectively). IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi networks are prone to many denial of service(DoS)attacks due to vulnerabilities at the media access control(MAC)layer of the 802.11 *** to the data transmission nature of the wireless local area network(WLAN)through radio waves,its communication is exposed to the possibility of being attacked by illegitimate ***,the security design of the wireless structure is vulnerable to versatile *** example,the attacker can imitate genuine features,rendering classificationbased methods inaccurate in differentiating between real and false *** security standards have been proposed over the last decades to overcome many wireless network attacks,effectively detecting such attacks is crucial in today’s real-world *** paper presents a novel resource exhaustion attack detection scheme(READS)to detect resource exhaustion attacks *** proposed scheme can differentiate between the genuine and fake management frames in the early stages of the attack such that access points can effectively mitigate the consequences of the *** scheme is built through learning from clustered samples using artificial neural networks to identify the genuine and rogue resource exhaustion management frames effectively and efficiently in *** proposed scheme consists of four modules whichmake it capable to alleviates the attack impact more effectively than the related *** experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique by gaining an 89.11%improvement compared to the existing works in terms of detection.

electro Analytical Determination of Di hydroxybenzene Isomers Using Glassy Carbon electrode

In this study, the electrochemical oxidation of CT （catechol）, hQ （hydroquinone） and RS （resorcinol） was investigated using cyclic and linear sweep voltammetries at GCE （glassy carbon electrode）. The GCE showed an excellent electro activity and reversibility towards the oxidation of these isomers at different conditions. hQ and CT showed one defined oxidation peak and one defined reduction peak while RS showed one defined oxidation peak. These isomers were determined also in their binary and tertiary mixtures. The calibration curves for CT, hQ and RS were obtained in the ranges of 5 × 10-6 to 1 × 10-3 ***-3, 5 × 10-6 to 5 × ***-3 and 1 × 10-5 to 1× 10-3 ***-3, respectively. The detection limits were 9 ×10-7, 3 × 10-7, 6 × 10-6 ***3 for CT, hQ and RS, respectively. At the optimal experimental conditions, these isomers were determined in different water samples. Also, the removal of catechol from aqueous solution by adsorption on activated charcoal and alumina was studied. After 24 h, 88.7% and 65.9% of catechol was removed using charcoal and alumina, respectively.

Ki-67 immunohistochemical expression in mandibular ameloblastoma: A prognostic indicator for local recurrence

Objective: This study used Ki-67 to evaluate the proliferative activity of ameloblastoma in an attempt to provide a scientific basis for any differences in the biologic behaviour that exists between the different types of ameloblastoma and correlate the results with the recurrence rate. Study design: We assessed Ki-67 expression by immunohistochemistry in 32 cases of mandibular ameloblastoma. Formalin-fixed, paraffinembedded blocks were sectioned and used for haematoxylin & Eosin (h&E) staining. h&E slides were used to re-evaluate the histological types of the ameloblastoma. Immunohistochemical analysis for Ki-67 with a labelled streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase complex technique was performed on tumour sections using Monoclonal Mouse Anti-human Ki-67 Antigen (clones MIB1, code M7240, Dako Corporation). Lymph nodes (lymphoma) were used as positive control for Ki-67. Results: The specimens comprised 18 cases of Follicular ameloblastoma, 7 cases of Cystic ameloblastoma, 4 cases of plexiform ameloblastoma, and 3 cases of Acanthotic ameloblastoma. The results showed that cellular proliferative activity varied within the ameloblastoma types. There was no statistically significant difference in the Ki-67 Acanthotic, cystic and follicular types of ameloblastoma, while plexiform type showed statistically significantly higher levels than the other 3 types. The mean Ki-67 labelling index of plexiform ameloblastoma ranged from 13 to 30 with a mean of 19.75. The mean values of Ki-67 were statistically significantly higher in recurrent than?non-recurrent cases. Conclusion: The significant expression of Ki-67 could provide useful prognostic markers for proliferative activity and good prognostic indicators for recurrence rate of mandibular ameloblastoma.
