Quantum key distribution with continuous variables already uses advantageous high-speed single-mode homodyne detection with low electronic noise at room *** with continuous-variable information encoding to nonclassical states,the distance for secure key transmission through lossy channels can approach 300 km in current optical *** protocols tolerate higher channel noise and also limited data processing efficiency compared to coherent-state *** secret key rate can be further increased by increasing the system clock rates,and,further,by a suitable frequency-mode-multiplexing of optical transmission ***,the multiplexed modes couple together in the source or any other part of the ***,multiplexed communication will experience cross talk and the gain can be ***,homodyne detectors allow solving this cross-talk problem by proper data *** is a potential advantage over protocols with single-photon detectors,which do not enable similar data processing *** demonstrate the positive outcome of this methodology on the experimentally characterized frequency-multiplexed entangled source of femtosecond optical pulses with natural cross talk between eight entangled pairs of *** the main result,we predict the almost 15-fold higher secret key *** experimental test and analysis of frequencymultiplexed entanglement source open the way for the field implementation of high-capacity quantum key distribution with continuous variables.

Differential roles of seed and sprout regeneration in forest diversity and productivity after disturbance

Detecting circulating tumor material and digital pathology imaging during pancreatic cancer progression

Pancreatic cancer(PC) is a leading cause of cancerrelated death worldwide. Clinical symptoms typically present late when treatment options are limited and survival expectancy is very short. Metastatic mutations are heterogeneous and can accumulate up to twenty years before PC diagnosis. Given such genetic diversity, detecting and managing the complex states of disease progression may be limited to imaging modalities and markers present in circulation. Recent developments in digital pathology imaging show potential for early PC detection, making a differential diagnosis, and predicting treatment sensitivity leading to long-term survival in advanced stage patients. Despite large research efforts, the only serum marker currently approved for clinical use is CA 19-9. Utility of CA 19-9 has been shown to improve when it is used in combination with PC-specific markers. Efforts are being made to develop early-screening assays that can detect tumor-derived material, present in circulation, before metastasis takes a significant course. Detection of markers that identify circulating tumor cells and tumor-derived extracellular vesicles(EVs) in biofluid samples offers a promising non-invasive method for this purpose. Circulating tumor cells exhibit varying expression of epithelial and mesenchymal markers depending on the state of tumor differentiation. This offers a possibility for monitoring disease progression using minimally invasive procedures. EVs also offer the benefit of detecting molecular cargo of tumor origin and add the potential to detect circulating vesicle markers from tumors that lack invasive properties. This review integrates recent genetic insights of PC progression with developments in digitalpathology and early detection of tumor-derived circulating material.

Prostate secretory protein 94 （PSP94）, also known as β-microseminoprotein, is a product of the MSMB gene and one of the most abundant proteins found in human seminal plasma （Anklesaria et al., 2013）. This small cysteine-rich non-glycosylated protein is considered to be involved in regulation of many biological processes including male reproduction.

What makes a cry a cry？ A review of infant distress vocalizations

In contrast to the cries of human infants, sounds made by non-human infants in different stressful behavioral contexts （hunger or physical discomfort, isolation, capture by humans or predators） are usually treated as distinct types of vocalizations. However, if distress vocalizations produced by different species and in different contexts share a common motivational state and associated neurochemical pathways, we can expect them to share a common acoustic structure and adaptive function, showing only limited variation that corresponds to the infant＇s level of arousal. Based on this premise, we review the acoustic structure and adaptive function of two types of distress calls, those given when infants were isolated from their mothers （isolation caUs） or captured by humans （capture calls）. We conducted a within-context comparison examining the two call types across a diverse se- lection of mammalian species and other vertebrate groups, followed by a comparison of how acoustic structure and function dif- fers between these contexts. In addition, we assessed acoustic traits that are critical to the response of caregivers. Across verte- brate species, distress vocalizations produced in these two behavioral contexts tend to be tonal with a simple chevron, flat or de- scending pattern of frequency modulation. Reports that both isolation and capture calls of vertebrate infants serve to attract care- givers are universal, and the fundamental frequency of infant vocalizations is often critical to this response. The results of our re- view are consistent with the hypothesis that differences in the acoustic structure of isolation and capture distress vocalizations re- flect differences in arousal, and not discrete functions. The similarity in acoustic structure and caregiver response observed across vertebrates adds support to the hypothesis that the production and processing of distress vocalizations are part of a highly-conserved system of social vocal behaviour in vertebrate

Ecological role of the giant root-rat(Tachyoryctes macrocephalus)in the Afroalpine ecosystem

Rodents with prevailing subterranean activity usually play an important role in the ecosystems of which they are a part due to the combined effect of herbivory and soil *** is the case for the giant root-rat Tachyoryctes macrocephalus endemic to the Afroalpine ecosystem of the Bale Mountains,*** studied the impact of root-rats on various ecosystem features within a 3.5-ha study locality dominated by Alchemilla pasture,which represents an optimal habitat for this species,in 2 periods of a *** root-rats altered plant species composition,reducing the dominant forb,Alchemilla abyssinica,while enhancing Salvia merjame and a few other species,and reduced vegetation cover,but not the fresh plant *** burrows were abandoned by root-rats,other rodents took them over and *** increased ***-rat burrowing created small-scale heterogeneity in soil compactness due to the backfilling of some unused burrow *** compacted soil tended to be rich in nutrients,including carbon,nitrogen and phosphorus,which likely affected the plant growth on sites where the vegetation has been reduced as a result of root-rat foraging and burrowing.

Risk of recurrence of primary sclerosing cholangitis after liver transplantation is associated with de novo inflammatory bowel disease

AIM To evaluate risk factors for primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC) recurrence(rPSC) after orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT) in patients with well-preserved colons. METHODS We retrospectively evaluated the medical records of all patients transplanted for PSC in our center between July 1994 and May 2015 and selected 47 with followup of at least 60 mo for further analysis based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. rPSC was confirmed by magnetic resonance or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and liver biopsy. All patients were evaluated by protocolary pre-OLT colonoscopy with randomized mucosal biopsies. Colonoscopy was repeated annually after OLT. Both organ donors and recipients were human leukocyte antigen(HLA) typed by serological and/or DNA methods. All input data were thoroughly analyzed employing relevant statistical *** Altogether, 31 men and 16 women with a median(range) age of 36(15-68) years at the time of OLT and a median follow-up of 122(60-249) mo were included. rPSC was confirmed in 21/47(44.7%) of patients, a median 63(12-180) mo after transplantation. De novo colitis [rPSC in 11/12, P ≤ 0.05, hazard ratio(HR): 4.02, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.58-10.98] and history of acute cellular rejection(rPSC in 14/25, P ≤ 0.05; HR: 2.66, 95%CI: 1.03-7.86) showed strong positive associations with rPSC. According to the univariate analysis, overlapping features of autoimmune hepatitis(r PSC in 5/5, P ≤ 0.05) and HLA-DRB1*07 in the donor(r PSC in 10/15, P ≤ 0.05) represent other potential risk factors for rPSC, while the HLA-DRB1*04(rPSC in 0/6, P ≤ 0.05), HLA-DQB1*03(rPSC in 1/11, P ≤ 0.05), and HLA-DQB1*07(rPSC in 0/7, P ≤ 0.05) recipient alleles may have protective *** De novo colitis and acute cellular rejection are clinical conditions significantly predisposed towards recurrence of PSC after liver transplantation.

要讨论两方面的工作.首先,对三视校正问题进行理论分析,给出了校正后图像的基本矩阵与其约束条件之间的关系,讨论了三视校正过程中的6个自由参数的几何含义.这些结果为处理校正过程中带来的图像射影畸变提供了理论根据.其次,在RANSAC(random sampling consensus)框架下,提出了一种鲁棒的三视校正算法.与传统的校正算法不同,该算法不再只依赖于基本矩阵,而是直接利用了原始匹配点的信息.这种基于点的方法有两个优点:一方面,由于噪声的干扰,基本矩阵往往估计得不够准确;另一方面,由于基本矩阵的评价准则与校正结果的评价准则不同,即使从好的基本矩阵出发,也未必能获得好的校正结果.大量的模拟和真实图像实验表明,该算法具有很强的抗噪声及抗错误匹配的能力,能够获得令人满意的校正效果.

Biology Inspired Image Segmentation using Methods of Artificial Intelligence

In recent years,many efforts have been devoted to image segmentation. Although for a man general image segmentation is considered an easy task, for computers it is still considered to be difficult, computationally intensive and still unresolved task. This work presents an innovative algorithm combining theory of artificial intelligence and knowledge of human eye anatomy. The resulting algorithm has not ambitions to be universal like human brain but can be trained and perform on selected domain. The effectiveness of the algorithm is demonstrated on the selected examples.
