Development and Optimization of Universal Bone Conduction Hearing Spectacles

Background: Non-implantable bone anchored hearing devices (BCHDs) are utilized for patients with conductive or mixed hearing loss who are unsuitable for conventional hearing aids or have unresolved middle ear issues. These devices can be surgically implanted or attached using adhesive plates, dental sticks, elastic headbands, or bone conduction spectacles. Optimal fitting of bone conduction spectacles requires appropriate frame selection and contact pressure in the temporal and mastoid areas. The ANSI S3.6 and DIN EN ISO 389-3 standards recommend a contact area of approximately 1.75 cm2 and a maximum force of 5.4 N for effective sound transmission and comfort. Methods: This study aimed to evaluate the technical fit and mechanical stability of universal bone conduction hearing spectacles compared to established systems. A Sen-Pressure 02 thin-film sensor connected to an Arduino Uno r3 board measured contact force in the temporal and mastoid areas. Several BCHDs were tested, including the Bruckhoff la belle BC D50/70, radioear B71 headset, radioear B71 elastic headband, Cochlear Baha SoundArc M, and Cochlear Baha elastic headband, on a PVC artificial head, with data analyzed using ANOVA and LSD post hoc tests. results: The la belle BC D50/70 spectacles showed comparable contact force to established BCHDs, ensuring adequate sound transmission and comfort. Significant differences were observed between the systems, with the radioear B71 headset exhibiting the highest forces. The la belle BC D50/70 had similar forces to the radioear B71 elastic headband. Conclusion: The la belle BC D50/70 universal bone conduction hearing spectacles are a technically equivalent alternative to established BCHDs, maintaining pressure below 5.4 N. Future research should explore the impact of different contact forces on performance and comfort, and the integration of force control in modified spectacles. Malargüe Site remediation: A Successful Solution for Uranium Mill Tailings

Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica(CNEA) has the responsibility for restoring uranium mining facilities once the operations have finished. CNEA, within its Environmental Program and in compliance with its legal responsibilities, decides to implement a restoration project for all sites related to the mining and processing of uranium ores. The Malargüe Site is located within the Province of Mendoza in the city of Malargüe. It is the first site to successfully complete its remediation. The activities consist of relocation of tailings to an engineering repository. The tailings management(encapsulation) and rehabilitation of the area was finished in June 2017. The remediation alternative for the ore tailings was selected after conducting comparative studies and submitted the project to the society for consideration. The objective of the encapsulation of the mineral tails is to isolate them from the environment, also proceeding with the decontamination and rehabilitation of the area(landscaping,post-closure monitoring and 20 years monitoring period). Encapsulation consisted of the construction of a containment cell for the mine tailings, to isolate them and prevent pollutants from entering the environment through the transfer routes. To clean the impacted areas, the soil was removed, it was incorporated into the encapsulation, and the filling was carried out with natural soils from the *** prevents radon transfer to the environment, as 222ra is an alpha emitter with a half-life of four days, which produces its own radioactive progeny. radon progeny are solids, and when a 222ra nucleus emits an alpha particle into the air, the resulting 218Po nucleus, momentarily electrically charged, adheres to any dust particle. remediation prevents the discharge into the air containing radon and also containing dust particles charged with intensely radioactive radon progeny. To pursue the ideal of a safe high-tech society in a time when traffic accidents are frequent,the traffic signs detection system has become one of the necessary topics in recent years and in the *** ultimate goal of this research is to identify and classify the types of traffic signs in a panoramic *** accomplish this goal,the paper proposes a new model for traffic sign detection based on the Convolutional Neural Network for com-prehensive traffic sign classification and Mask region-based Convolutional Neural Networks(r-CNN)implementation for identifying and extracting signs in panoramic *** augmentation and normalization of the images are also applied to assist in classifying better even if old traffic signs are degraded,and considerably minimize the rates of discovering the extra *** proposed model is tested on both the testing dataset and the actual images and gets 94.5%of the correct signs recognition rate,the classification rate of those signs discovered was 99.41%and the rate of false signs was only around 0.11.

Three monogenetic cones in the Baossi–Warack area, Ngaoundéré, Adamawa Plateau forming part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line(CVL) are documented in this study. Basaltic lavas(red around these vents and restricted volcaniclastic deposits were emplaced by Hawaiian and mild strombolian style eruptions. The lavas are porphyritic, mainly composed of olivine(chrysolite) and clinopyroxene(diopside and augite) phenocrysts and plagioclase(andesine) microphenocrysts. Accessory minerals include titano-magnetite and titano-hematite, nepheline,apatite and amphibole xenocrysts. Sanidine occurs in some samples and sodi-potassic albite in others. Some olivines and clinopyroxenes exhibit resorbed margins and thin reaction rims while plagioclase displays oscillatory zoning, and sieved textures as a result of magma mixing. Whole-rock geochemistry data indicates that the lavas are silica-undersaturated, composed of basanites and basalts, showing little compositional variations(SiO_2: 39.20 wt.%–48.01 wt.%,MgO: 5.29 wt.%–9.70 wt.%). Trace elements patterns of these lavas suggest they are enriched in LILE including Pb,probably due to crustal contamination. rEE patterns suggest cogenetic magmas below Baossi 1 and Baossi 2 volcanoes,and distinct sources below Warack volcano and nearby *** lavas studied show affinity to high-μ(HIMU), enriched type Ⅰ(EM1) and Oceanic Island Basalt(OIB)-like mantle signatures and thus indicate a heterogeneous mantle source underneath the vents as noted at other monogenetic and polygenetic volcanoes along the CVL. Primary melts derived from low degrees of partial melting(0.5%–2%) and encountered low rates of fractionation, and crustal contamination coupled with magma mixing. These melts evolved independently through structural weaknesses in the basement.

Soil quality assessment for desertification based on multi-indicators with the best-worst method in a semi-arid ecosystem

Since there are some signs of land degradation and desertification showing how soil sustainability is threatened, it is crucial to create a soil quality index(SQI) model in the semi-arid ?orum Basin, situated between the Black Sea and Anatolia region, Central Turkey. The primary aims of the study are:(1) to determine SQI values of the micro-basin in terms of land degradation and ***, the best-worst method(BWM) was used to determine the weighting score for each parameter;(2) to produce the soils' spatial distribution by utilizing different geostatistical models and GIS(geographic information system) techniques;and(3) to validate the obtained SQI values with biomass reflectance values. Therefore, the relationship of rE-OSAVI(red-edge optimized soil-adjusted vegetation index) and NDVI(normalized difference vegetation index) generated from Sentinel-2A satellite images at different time series with soil quality was examined. results showed that SQI values were high in the areas that had almost a flat and slight slope. Moreover, the areas with high clay content and thick soil depth did not have salinity problems, and were generally distributed in the middle parts of the basin. However, the areas with a high slope, poor vegetation, high sand content, and low water holding capacity had low SQI ***, a statistically high positive correlation of rE-OSAVI and NDVI indices with soil quality was found, and NDVI had the highest correlative value for June(r~2=0.802) compared with rE-OSAVI.

Stellar structure model in hydrostatic equilibrium in the context of f(r)-gravity

In this work we present a stellar structure model from the f（r）-gravity point of view capable of describing some classes of stars（white dwarfs, brown dwarfs, neutron stars, red giants and the Sun）. This model is based on f（r）-gravity field equations for f（r） = r ＋ f2r2, hydrostatic equilibrium equation and a polytropic equation of state. We compare the results obtained with those found by Newtonian theory. It has been observed that in these systems, where high curvature regimes emerge,stellar structure equations undergo modifications. Despite the simplicity of this model, the results are satisfactory. The estimated values of pressure, density and temperature of the stars are within those determined by observations. This f（r）-gravity model has proved to be necessary to describe stars with strong fields such as white dwarfs, neutron stars and brown dwarfs, while stars with weaker fields, such as red giants and the Sun, are best described by Newtonian theory.
