Hysterectomies for Gynaecological Pathology: 56 Cases at the Segou Regional Hospital in Mali

Introduction: Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure involving partial or total removal of the uterus. It is the most common gynaecological surgery in the world. Objective: To describe the epidemio-clinical and prognostic aspects of gynaecological hysterectomies. Patients and methods: This was an 18-month retrospective prospective descriptive study with a six-month follow-up period from 1 December 2020 to 31 May 2022 carried out in the gynaecology department of the Segou regional hospital. Results: Fifty-six (56) hysterectomies were performed out of 118 gynaecological surgical procedures (47.45%). The mean age was 47 ± 11.77 years. Large multiparous women were the most common (50%), with an average parity of 4.58. The main indications were uterine fibroids (30.4%), precancerous lesions of the cervix (17.85%) and uterine prolapse (17.85%). The abdominal route was the most commonly used surgical route (82.14%). Hysterectomy was total in 100% of cases and associated with bilateral adnexectomy in 48.2% of cases. The intra- and post-operative prognosis was satisfactory in 94.6% of cases. No deaths were recorded. The average length of stay was 3.28 days, irrespective of the surgical approach. Three cases of dyspareunia were noted among those who had resumed sexual activity.

The main aims of the current study are to determine the morphological features of the periglacial landforms(non-sorted step,mud circle,stony earth circle,thufur,and congeliturbation)located on the Ilgaz Mountains,examine the physicochemical and mineralogical properties with pedological processes of the soils,and assess of the effects of climatic conditions controlling the development of *** Ilgaz Mountains(2587 m a.s.l.),located in the Western Black Sea Region,within the Anatolian Mountains,are important in terms of periglacial landforms(mud circles,stony earth circles,thufurs,non-sorted steps,non-sorted stripes,congeliturbation deposits,and block currents).The descriptive statistics of 123 periglacial landforms measured by fieldworks were *** distribution of freezing and thawing in the Ilgaz Mountains throughout the year was evaluated,and it was found that freezing takes place between December and March,freezing-thawing takes place in April,May,October and November,and thawing takes place between June and *** to soil properties,organic matter content changes from 1.88%to 12.72%in non-sorted step soils,while it is between 2.03%and 12.24%in stony earth circle *** organic matter is observed to be close to congeliturbation deposits at lower ratios compared to non-sorted steps,stony earth circles and mud *** soil reactions on stony earth circles and non-sorted steps vary between slightly acidic and slightly *** the other hand,soil samples taken from the mud circles are different from those taken from the non-sorted steps and stony earth *** soil reaction is acidic,and pH changes between 4.86 and *** lime content also varies between 2.81%and 32.08%,with an average of 12.02%.The texture properties of soils are dominantly loam and clay loam,as in the non-sorted steps,stony earth circles,and mud *** their mineralogical properties,the XRD study was carried out to determine the primer mineral

Is Chloroplast Movement in Tobacco Plants Influenced Systemically after Local Illumination or Burning Stress?

Chloroplast movement has been studied in many plants mainly in relation to the local light, mechanical or stress effects. Here we investigated possible systemic responses of chloroplast movement to local light or burning stress in tobacco plants （Nicotisna tabacum cv. Samsun）. Chloroplast movement was measured using two independent methods： one with a SPAD 502 Chlorophyll meter and another by collimated transmittance at a selected wavelength （676 nm）. A sensitive periodic movement of chloroplasts was used in high or low （2 000 or 50 μmol/m2 per s photosynthetically active radiation, respectively） cold white light with periods of 50 or 130 min. Measurements were carried out in the irradiated area, in the non-irradisted area of the same leaf or in the leaf located on the stem below the irradiated or bumed one. No significant changes in systemic chloroplast movement in non-irradiated parts of the leaf and in the non-treated leaf were detected. Our data indicate that chloroplast movement in tobacco is dependent dominantly on the intensity and spectral composition of the incident light and on the local stimulation and state of the target tissue. No systemic signal was strong enough to evoke a detectable systemic response in chloroplast movement in distant untreated tissues of tobacco plants.

Huntington’s disease（HD）is a currently incurable,late onset,progressive,ultimately fatal neurological disorder（Bates et al.,2015）.We have recently published the results of comprehensive genetic interaction tests aimed at identification of histone methyltransferases and demethylases involved in HD pathogenesis in a Drosophila model of the disease（Song et al.,2018）.

Small mammal community response to early meadow–forest succession

Background： With farmland afforestation becoming common policy in many European Union countries, we studied how early forest succession（from meadow to young stand） influences small mammal species composition, diversity,abundance and biomass. Despite numerous investigations into forest succession, almost no attention has been given to the small mammal community change in the early-successional forest ecosystems, starting with the pre-forest habitat and ending with stand formation and the establishment of tree dominance. We compared small mammal communities in meadows at the initial stage of regrowth（with saplings less than 10 cm in height）, in young forest（5–10 years old） and more advanced forest（15–20 years） in both cases of human-induced forest succession, where the trees had been planted, and natural forest succession, where natural regrowth of meadows had ***： The greatest diversity of small mammal species was recorded in the meadow（H = 2.95）, with a lower diversity found in the young forest（H = 2.61） and even lower in the advanced forest（H = 2.04）, the last habitat being the most monodominantic. The order of species dominance from Microtus sp.（M. arvalis, M. agrestis）, Myodes glareolus, Apodemus flavicollis, Sorex araneus, A. agrarius in the meadow changed to M. glareolus, S. araneus, M. arvalis,M. agrestis in the young forest and to M. glareolus, A. flavicollis, S. araneus in the advanced forest. The lowest relative abundance of small mammals was recorded in the meadow（18.19 ± 2.27 ind. Per 100 trap-days）, with Microtus voles being the most abundant. Relative abundance was higher in the young forest（22.72 ± 2.25 ind. Per 100 trap-days）,with Myodes glareolus being the most abundant（7.59 ± 0.96 ind. Per 100 trap-days） and at its highest in the advanced forest（23.91 ± 2.77 ind. Per 100 trap-days）, again with M. glareolus being the most abundant（15.54 ± 2.35 ind. Tetrahydro-γ-carbolines(THγ Cs) constitute one of the most important subtypes of indole alkaloids. In addition to being substructures of natural products, these structural motifs and moieties can often be found in pharmaceuticals due to their diverse bioactivities such as antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal,antiparasitic, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and neuropharmacological activities. Beyond the pharmacological and biological aspects of these scaffolds, they have considerable synthetic applications for the construction of further bioactive compounds, too. The aim of this review is to summarize recent developments in the synthesis of this compound class.
