A new configuration of a resonant full-bridge flying capacitor multicell inverter has been designed and constructed with the aim of achieving an extended output voltage frequency range with low harmonic distortion and reduced semiconductor commutation losses. This configuration was tested as a power supply for two different coaxial dielectric barrier discharge reactors, one of them employed for electric characterization and the other one for inorganic compound elimination in an aqueous solution. Two different gas mixtures, 90% Ar-10% 02 and 80% Ar-20% 02, were individually supplied during the experiments; the results showed a high- efficiency removal of meta-cresol （m-cresol） to the order of 98%, which was obtained by adding more oxygen to the plasma gas mixture.

BACKGROUND Wilson's disease(WD)is a rare metabolic disorder of copper accumulation in organs such as liver,brain,and *** and treatments are challenging in settings,where advanced diagnostic tests are unavailable,copper chelating agents are frequently scarce,healthcare professionals lack disease awareness,and medical follow-ups are *** diagnoses and treatments help prevent complications,improve patients’quality of life,and ensure a normal life *** clinical presentations and outcomes of WD can vary within a single *** SUMMARY We present the cases of two siblings(19 and 27 years)from a consanguineous family in rural Ecuador,diagnosed as having WD during a family *** male patient,diagnosed at age 19 after his brother’s death from acute liver failure,presented with compensated cirrhosis,neurological symptoms,and bilateral Kayser-Fleischer *** developed progressive neurological deterioration during an irregular treatment with D-penicillamine due to medication *** condition improved upon switching to trientine tetrahydrochloride,and his neurological symptoms improved over an 8-year period of *** female patient,diagnosed at age 10,exhibited only biochemical *** treatment history was similar;however,she remained asymptomatic without disease progression over the same follow-up *** discuss the potential influence of epigenetic mechanisms and modifier genes on the various phenotypes,emphasizing the need for research in these areas to optimize therapeutic *** Our patients’medical histories show how early diagnosis and treatment can prevent disease progression;and,how suboptimal treatments impact disease outcomes.

Piezoelectric materials exhibit a response to mechanical-electrical coupling, which represents an important contribution to the electrical-mechanical interaction in bone remodeling process. Therefore, the study of the piezoelectric effect on bone re- modeling has high interest in applied biomechanics. The effects of mechano-regulation and electrical stimulation on bone healing are explained. The Boundary Element Method （BEM） is used to simulate piezoelectric effects on bones when shearing forces are applied to collagen fibers to make them slip past each other. The piezoelectric fundamental solutions are obtained by using the radon transform. The Dual Reciprocity Method （DRM） is used to simulate the particular solutions in time-dependent problems. BEM analysis showed the strong influence of electrical stimulation on bone remodeling. The examples discussed in this work showed that, as expected, the electrically loaded bone surfaces improved the bone deposition. BEM results confirmed previous findings obtained by using the Finite Element Method （FEM）. This work opens very promising doors in biomechanics research, showing that mechanical loads can be replaced, in part, by electrical charges that stimulate strengthening bone density. The obtained results herein are in good agreement with those found in literature from experimental testing and/or other simu- lation approaches.

The hot corrosion behavior of yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ)powder specimens exposed to Na_(2)SO_(4)/V_(2)O_(5) salts mixtures at high temperature was *** tests were carried out at 1000℃ for 10 h,the salt concentrations varied from 0.1 wt%to 1.00 wt%,and the Na_(2)SO_(4)/V_(2)O_(5) mass ratios were between 0.20 and 0.44 following a factorial design 22.X-ray diffraction(XRD)analyses of the tested samples showed with a confidence of95%that the mixture composed of 32 wt%Na_(2)SO_(4)+68 wt%V_(2)O_(5),and 1.00 wt% salt concentration led to high destabilization of the t’-YSZ phase and formation of YVO_(4) products.A second set of experiments were conducted to assess the influence of temperature on the hot corrosion response of the YSZ in the range between 490 and 1100℃.Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)experiments and Rietveld adjustments of XRD patterns showed that the mass loss of the samples varied with testing temperature and also that the major destabilization of tetragonal phase occurred at 900℃.

This paper presents a method for estimating the solar capture capacity of dwell-ings using the central urban area of Concepción,Chile,as a case study in order to promote self-generation of energy by *** method takes into account the growing domestic energy demand and the possibility of meeting this demand through integrated solar energy collection into buildings using different *** methodology considers a study of the potential incoming solar radiation on buildings according to their geographical location and the surrounding *** capacity for solar capture is then estimated for different dwelling types accord-ing to their ***,the energy contribution provided by differ-ent technologies(solar thermal,photovoltaic and hybrid)is identified in relation to the main average energy demands for electricity,water and space ***,systems for each dwelling are recommended in an urban map available *** development is based on climate information,cartography,aerial photo-graphs,surveys,housing models,technical standards,standardised calculations and dynamic simulations,implemented according to building layouts from an online Geographic Information System(GIS).The housing types are categorised in an urban map that relates household demands and the contribution of different solar energy *** to the estimates calculated,the residential units in the study offer sufficient solar capacity to supply between 40 and 60%of their energy consumption,especially in detached houses using roof-mounted hybrid systems.

li_(3)FeF_(6)has been the focus of research of fluorine-based cathode materials for lithium-ion *** of the low electronic conductivity of li3 FeF6,the decrease of particle size,by an energyconsuming long-time ball milling process with carbon,is necessary to achieve a high electrochemical *** most successful method to enhance electrochemical activity,carbon coating,seemed to be impracticable,so far,for sensitive fluorides like li3 *** this work,carbon coating on li3 FeF6 particles has been successfully achieved for the first time,while avoiding both extended hydrolysis and Fe(Ⅲ)-Fe(Ⅱ)*** heat treatment and atmosphere,yielding the maximal transformation of organic carbon to both graphitised and disordered carbon,has been *** coating,with a thickness of approximately 2.5 nm,has been achieved by controlled thermal decomposition of glucose,under air,at 300℃.raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)experiments have proved the existence of carbon and Fe2O3 on the surface of li3FeF6 *** spectroscopy indicates the presence of organic residues from glucose *** to further reduce the orga nic carbon content results in a decrease of the amorphous carbon coating *** carbon-coated li3 FeF6 nanoparticles deliver 122 mA h g^(-1)(85%of theoretical capacity)significantly higher than that of a noncoated sample(58 mA h g^(-1)).Even more,a significant beneficial effect of carbon coating on both capacity retention and coulombic efficiency is observed.

In order to reduce the increasing energy consumption for the domestic demands of existing single-family housing and take advantage of frequent building enlargements,this paper presents a methodology and supporting software tool for determining the optimal design configuration of an attic with integrated solar *** analysis procedure is based on parametric modeling,energy simulation and the use of evolutionary algorithms for finding optimal *** has been implemented as a Web-platform for public use that provides users with a proposal of an attic shape with maximum solar energy collection,maximum living space and minimum construc-tion envelope for each house according its size and *** attic integrates PV,thermal and hybrid solar panels on one side of the *** paper describes the methodology and software design,asssment of the Web-platform usage and case-studies to verify its *** a matter of minutes,the Web-platform enables users to select a specific attic design for each house that has integrated solar collectors that can produce energy to cover almost 100%of domestic energy *** attics designed provide a nearly 30%increase in living space through the extension of one to four rooms,and the construction cost of the envelope is similar to that of a standard housing extension.
