Over 30% rural families in.In.ia live in.poverty due to small holdin.s an. low soil productivity. As man. un.erutilised tree species are toleran. to harsh agro-climatic con.ition., BAIF promoted agri-horti-forestry on.degraded lan.s in.abited by tribals. Tradition.lly depen.en. on.n.n.timber forest products, they selected tamarin. （Tamarin.us in.ica）, jackfruit （Artocarpus heterophyllus）, In.ian.gooseberry （Emblica officin.lis） an. ber （Zizyphus mauritian.）, apart from man.o an. cashew for their livelihood. Oilseed trees like n.em （Azadirachta in.ica）, mahua （Madhuca in.ica） an. jatropha （Jatropha curcas） were in.roduced on.field borders, while the in.erspace was utilised for cultivatin. food crops. To en.ure higher yield an. superior quality of the produce, selection.of elite germplasm, domestication.through stan.ardisation.of cultivation.practices an. facilitation.for supply of plan.in. material are essen.ial, apart from in.reasin. the deman. by explorin. their uses, creatin. awaren.ss amon. con.umers an. establishin. a good distribution.n.twork, In.ercrops like foodgrain., vegetables an. medicin.l herbs gen.rated addition.l in.ome an. reduced risk in.case of failure of un.erutilised crops. Low cost, high performan.e supercapacitor electrodes were fabricated usin. cocon.t waste as precursor. simple on. step pyrolysis is adopted to get the spherical shaped particle where lign.cellulosic n.ture of carbon.con.erts in.o porous carbon.n.n.spheres. Three types of cocon.t wastes, n.mely, cocon.t fiber(CF), cocon.t leaves(CL) an. cocon.t stick(Cs) have been.studied an. compared for their application.in.supercapacitors. Un.form spherical shape with particle size ran.in. from 30 to 60 n. for leaves an. sticks an.20 n. for fibers was obtain.d. The electrochemical properties of the porous carbon.n.n.spheres were studied usin. cyclic voltammetry(CV), chron.poten.iometry(CP) an. electrochemical impedan.e spectroscopy(EIs). The porous carbon.n.n.spheres derived from all the three biowaste samples show good electrochemical performan.e for supercapacitor application. Porous carbon.n.n.spheres derived from cocon.t fiber exhibited maximum specific capacitan.e of 236 F/g followed by cocon.t stick an. cocon.t leaves with 208 an. 116 F/g respectively at a scan.rate of 2 m V/s. Further impedan.e studies showed a charge tran.fer resistan.e of 4.9 for the porous carbon.n.n.spheres derived from cocon.t fiber, while those from cocon.t leaves an. cocon.t stick exhibited a slightly higher resistan.e of 6 an.14.2, respectively. The simple eco-frien.ly approach we have demon.trated for syn.hesizin. cocon.t waste based carbon.n.n.spheres makes them excellen. can.idates for future, low-cost, en.rgy storage devices.

We have examin.d the effects of en.iron.en.ally realistic con.en.ration. of widely used pesticides an. fertilizers for rice paddy in.Western.Ghats region. of In.ia on.chlorophyll an. zooplan.ton.production.usin. a laboratory mesocosm. Malathion.(100 μg·L-1), Cypermethrin.(25 μg·L-1), n.trate-n.trogen.(8 mg·L-1) an. Phosphate-phosphorus (8 mg·L-1) in.differen. combin.tion. such as pesticide-pesticide an. pesticide-fertilizer were tested in.fully factorial man.er for a period of 42 days. study revealed that, chlorophyll production.was supported by addition.of fertilizers, while combin.tion. of fertilizers with either on. or two pesticides reduce the zooplan.ton.den.ity an. diversity ren.erin. chlorophyll con.en.ration.more than.con.rol groups. This could in.icate the reason.for eutrophication.of pon.s located in.agro-ecosystems. sin.le application.of combin.tion. of pesticides (in.spite of presen.e of fertilizers) even.at low con.en.ration. can.produce severe n.gative effects on.several taxon.mic groups zooplan.ton.livin. in.small shallow water.

Biodiversity an. ecosystem services play key roles in.future econ.mic strategies seekin. to promote developmen. an. prosperity. This study assesses the status of biodiversity an. flow of ecosystem services from selected forest types in.the Western.Ghats. At the samplin. sites, the n.mber of tree species ran.ed from 16 to 79 per hectare depen.in. on.the forest type. The estimates for shan.on.Wien.r in.ex for trees in.the evergreen. moist deciduous an. dry deciduous forest plots were 3.02, 2.9 an. 1.54, respectively. The total biomass carbon.stocks in.evergreen. moist deciduous an. dry deciduous forests in.the study area was 229, 221 an. 189 t C/ha, *** of depen.en.y pattern. of local commun.ties on.forest resources in.icated a high depen.en.y on.provision.l services such as fuelwood, man.re an. fodder. The study records the highest depen.en.y rates for fuelwood,ran.in. between.72 an. 100% for the three forest types an. in.icates that forest ecosystems un.erpin.the well-bein. of the population.depen.en. directly an. in.irectly on.them.

This paper describes the damage detection.in.framed structures due to thevertical support settlemen. an. rotation.of footin. bases. The damage detection.procedureproposed by n.bahari et al. [n.bahari an. seyedpoor (2013)] is used to detect thedamage in.the members of the frame. In.the presen. study, in.tead of usin. the flexibilitymatrix (referred here as origin.l flexibility matrix) method, the gen.ralized flexibilitymatrix is used in.the same algorithm an. the results are compared. The algorithm usesflexibility matrix an. strain.en.rgy con.ept to detect the damage in.the members. Thebehaviour of the frame is discussed through chan.es observed in.flexibility in.theassociated degree of freedom.
