Increased syndecan-1 and glypican-3 predict poor perinatal outcome and treatment resistance in intrahepatic cholestasis

Background:Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP)increases the risk of adverse pregnancy *** study aimed to explore the association between serum syndecan-1 and glypican-3 levels and the adverse perinatal outcome as well as the responses to the treatment of ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA).Methods:This prospective,case control study included 88 pregnant women(44 women with ICP and 44 healthy controls).The primary end points were the perinatal outcome and the response to UDCA therapy.A logistic regression model was used to identify the independent risk factors of adverse pregnancy outcomes and reduced response to UDCA ***:Women with ICP had significantly higher serum syndecan-1(1.27±0.36 ng/m L vs.0.98±0.50 ng/m L;P=0.003),glypican-3(1.78±0.13 ng/m L vs.1.69±0.16 ng/m L;P=0.004),AsT(128.59±1.44 vs.13.29±1.32 U/L;Ps.8.00±3.67 U/L;Ps compared with the *** increased levels of syndecan-1(Or=4.715,95%CI:1.554–14.310;P=0.006),glypican-3(Or=8.465,95%CI:3.372–21.248;P=0.007),ALT(Or=1.382,95%CI:1.131–1.690;P=0.002),and postprandial bile acid(PBA)(Or=3.392,95%CI:1.003–12.869;P=0.026)were correlated to *** adverse neonatal outcome was related to increased glypican-3(Or=4.275,95%CI:2.726–5.635;P=0.039),and PBA(Or=3.026,95%CI:1.069–13.569;P=0.037).Increases of syndecan-1(Or=7.464,95%CI:2.130–26.153,P=0.017)and glypican-3(Or=6.194,95%CI:2.951–13.002;P=0.025)were the risk factors of decreased response to UDCA ***:syndecan-1 and glypican-3 might be powerful determinants in predicting adverse perinatal outcome in patients with ICP,and they can be used to predict the response to the UDCA treatment.

In object detection,spatial knowledge assisted systems are *** detection is a main and challenging issue to analyze object-related *** existing object detection techniques were developed to consider the object detection problem as a classification problem to perform feature selection and *** these techniques still face,less computational efficiency and high time *** paper resolves the above limitations using the Fuzzy Tversky index Ontology-based Multi-Layer Perception method which improves the accuracy of object detection with minimum *** proposed method uses a multilayer forfinding the similarity score.A fuzzy membership function is used to validate the score for predicting the burned and non-burned *** assessment is performed with different factors such as classification rate,time complexity,error rate,space complexity,and precision by using the forestfire *** results show that this novel technique can help to improve the classification rate and reduce the time and space complexity as well as error rate than the conventional methods.

Thermal-hydraulic performance analysis of a subchannel with square and triangle fuel rod arrangements using the entropy generation approach

The present paper discusses entropy generation in fully developed turbulent flows through a subchannel,arranged in square and triangle arrays. Entropy generation is due to contribution of both heat transfer and pressure drop. Our main objective is to study the effect of key parameters such as spacer grid, fuel rod power distribution,reynolds number re, dimensionless heat power ω, lengthto-fuel-diameter ratio λ, and pitch-to-diameter ratio ξ on subchannel entropy generation. The analysis explicitly shows the contribution of heat transfer and pressure drop to the total entropy generation. An analytical formulation is introduced to total entropy generation for situations with uniform and sinusoidal rod power distribution. It is concluded that power distribution affects entropy generation.A smoother power profile leads to less entropy *** entropy generation of square rod array bundles is more efficient than that of triangular rod arrays, and spacer grids generate more entropy.

Template-free Fabrication and Luminescent Characterization of Highly Uniform and Monodisperse Y_2O_2s:sm^(3+) Hollow submicrospheres

Well dispersed and homogeneous Y2O2s：sm3＋ hollow submicrospheres were successfully achieved by a template- free solvothermal method combining with a postcalcining process. The crystalstructure and particle morphology were investigated by the X-ray diffraction （XrD）, Fourier transform infrared （FT-Ir） spectra, scanning and transmission electron microscopy （sEM and TEM）, respectively. A possible growth mechanism was proposed to reveal the formation process. Luminescence properties of the Y202s：sm3＋ long-lasting phosphor were an- alyzed by measuring the excitation spectra, emission spectra, afterglow decay curve and thermoluminescence curve. The excitation spectra indicated that the phosphor could be excited effectively by the ultraviolet-light emitting diode （UV-LED） or blue LED, and the emission spectra showed that the phosphor could emit red light from 600 to 650 nm.

Improved strength and ductility of high alloy containing Al–12Zn–3Mg–2.5Cu alloy by combining non-isothermal step rolling and cold rolling

Al-12Zn-3Mg-2.5Cu alloy was prepared using a liquid metallurgy route under the optimized conditions. A sample cut from the ingot was rolled non-isothermally from 400℃ to 100℃ in 100℃ steps, with 15% reduction in thickness; it was then cold rolled isothermally at room temperature for 85% reduction. The cold-rolled alloys were characterized by electron microscopy, hardness test, and tensile test to elucidate their structural evolution and evaluate their mechanical behavior. In the results, the cast alloy consists of a-aluminum and various intermetallic compounds. These compounds are segregated along the grain boundaries, which makes the alloy difficult to roll at room tem- perature. The combined effect of non-isothermal step rolling and cold rolling results in the nano/microsized compounds distributed uniformly in the matrix. The hardness is substantially increased after rolling. This increase in hardness is attributed to the ultra-fine grain size, fine-scale intermetallic compounds, and structural defects （e.g., dislocations, stacking faults, and sub-grains）. The ultimate tensile strength of the rolled alloy is approximately 628 MPa with 7% ductility.

Optical immersion clearing is a technique that has been widely studied for more than two decades and that is used to originate a temporary transparency effect in biological *** applied in cooperation with clinical methods it provides optimization of diagnosis and treatment *** technique turns biological tissues more transparent through two main mechanisms-tissue dehydration and refractive index(rI)matching between tissue *** matching is obtained by partial replacement of interstit ial water by a biocompat ible agent that presents higher rI and it can be completely rever sible by natural rehydration in vrivo or by assisted rehydration in ex vivo *** data to characterize and discriminate between the two mechanisms and to find new ones are *** a simple method,based on collimated transmittance and thickness measurements made from muscle samples under treatment,we have estimated the diffusion properties of glucose,ethylene glycol(EG)and water that were used to perform such char acterization and *** these properties with data from literature that characterize their diffusion in water we have observed that musde cell membrane permeability limits agent and water diffusion in the *** same experi-mental data has allowed to calculate the optical dearing(OC)eficiency and make an inter-pretation of the internal changes that occurred in muscle during the *** same methodology can now be used to perform similar studies with other agents and in other tissues in order to solve engineering problems at design of inexpensive and robust technologies for a *** improvement of optical tomogr aphic techmiques with better contrast and in depth imaging.

Automatic Mesh Generation on a regular Background Grid

This paper presents an automatic mesh generation procedure on a 2D domain based on a regular background grid. The idea is to devise a robust mesh generation scheme with equal emphasis on quality and efficiency. Instead of using a traditional regular rectangular grid, a mesh of equilateral triangles is employed to ensure triangular element of the best quality will be preserved in the interior of the domain. As for the boundary, it is to be generated by a node/segment insertion process. Nodes are inserted into the background mesh one by one following the sequence of the domain boundary. The local structure of the mesh is modified based on the Delaunay criterion with the introduction of each node. Those boundary segments, which are not produced in the phase of node insertion, will be recovered through a systematic element swap process. Two theorems will be presented and proved to set up the theoretical basic of the boundary recovery part. Examples will be presented to demonstrate the robustness and the quality of the mesh generated by the proposed technique.

Bends are widely used in pipelines carrying single-and two-phase fluids in both ground and space *** particular,they play more important role in space applications due to the extreme spatial *** the present study,a set of experimental data of two-phase flow patterns and their transitions in a 90°bend with inner diameter of 12.7 mm and curvature radius of 76.5 mm at microgravity conditions are *** and liquid superficial velocities are found to range from (1.0～23.6)m/s for gas and(0.09～0.5)m/s for liquid,*** major flow patterns, namely slug,slug-annular transitional,and annular flows,are observed in this *** on the differences between flow patterns in bends and their counterparts in straight pipes,detailed analyses of their characteristics are *** transitions between adjoining flow patterns are found to be more or less the same as those in straight pipes,and can be predicted using Weber number models satisfactorily. The reasons for such agreement are carefully examined.

Kinetics of Mild steel Corrosion in Aqueous Acetic Acid solutions

The kinetics of mild steel corrosion in aqueous acetic acid solution has been investigated by weight loss and polarization techniques at 25,35 and 45℃.The weight loss of mild steel at room temperature （25℃） has been found to be quite significant,indicating poor corrosion resistance in acetic *** maximum corrosion rate has been observed in 25% acetic acid solution at all three experimental *** decrease in corrosion rate after attaining a maximum value has been attributed to the deposition of corrosion product on the *** polarization curves exhibit active behaviour at each concentration and temperature with a shift towards higher current density region and increased corrosion rates at higher *** cathodic polarization curves are almost identical irrespective either of the concentration of acetic acid or *** results obtained by both the techniques are in good agreement,while the surface studies support the conclusions drawn from the weight loss method.
