Getting physical with medical education:Exercise based virtual anatomy review classes for medical students

The benefits of regular physical activity are well ***,few studies have examined the effectiveness of integrating physical activity(PA)into curricula within a post-secondary *** investigate the incorporation of PA into medical curriculum,we developed a series of optional exercise-based review sessions designed to reinforce musculoskeletal(MSK)anatomy course *** synchronous sessions were co-taught by a group fitness instructor and an anatomy *** fitness instructor would lead students through both strength and yoga style exercises,while the anatomy instructor asked questions about relevant anatomical structures related to course material previously *** the sessions,participants were asked to evaluate the classes on their self-reported exam preparedness in improving MSK anatomy knowledge,PA levels,and mental *** participants completed surveys;a majority agreed that the classes increased understanding of MSK concepts(90.0%)and activity levels(97.7%).Many(70.0%)felt that the classes helped reduce *** majority of respondents(90.0%)agreed that the classes contributed to increased feelings of social ***,medical students saw benefit in PA based interventions to supplement MSK course *** with increasing activity levels and promoting health behaviours,integrating PA into medical curriculum may improve comprehension of learning material,alleviate stress and foster social connectivity among medical students.

Equatorial Plasma Bubbles(EPBs)are ionospheric irregularities that take place near the magnetic *** most commonly occur after sunset during the equinox months,although they can also be observed during other *** phenomenon significantly disrupts radio wave signals essential to communication and navigation *** national network of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)receivers in Indonesia(>30°longitudinal range)provides an opportunity for detailed EPB *** explore this,we conducted preliminary 3D tomography of total electron content(TEC)data captured by GNSS receivers following a geomagnetic storm on December 3,2023,when at least four EPB clusters occurred in the Southeast Asian *** and extracted TEC depletion with a 120-minute running average were then used as inputs for a 3D tomography *** 2D spatial distribution consistently captured the four EPB clusters over *** tomography results were validated through a classical checkerboard test and comparisons with other ionospheric data sources,such as the Global Ionospheric Map(GIM)and International reference Ionosphere(IrI)*** of the results demonstrates the capability of the Indonesian GNSS network to measure peak ionospheric *** findings highlight the potential for future three-dimensional research of plasma bubbles in low-latitude regions using existing GNSS networks,with extensive longitudinal coverage.

LA-ICP MS Characteristic of Geochemical Composition of Veins rocks from the Central Part of the Khibina Massive in Kola Peninsula, Northern russia

This paper discusses the vein rocks located in the central part of Khibina Mts.. These rocks are located on the border of two zones： ore and external. In the ore, zone is present titanite-nepheline bodies whilst in the outer zone are massive-syenites ＂khibinites＂. The veins can be divided into： mikrosyenites, melteigites and other rock types （e.g., tinguaites）. The results of LA-ICP MS （laser ablation of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry） indicate that these rocks are associated with deep zones which formed as a result of injection of primary magma and contamination of fluids during migration, where there have hydrothermal processes. rock-forming minerals, their corrosion and accessory minerals indicate these processes, too.

3D U-Net Segmentation Improves root System reconstruction from 3D MrI Images in Automated and Manual Virtual reality Work Flows

Magnetic resonance imaging(MrI)is used to image root systems grown in opaque ***,reconstruction of root system architecture(rSA)from 3-dimensional(3D)MrI images is *** resolution and poor contrast-to-noise ratios(CNrs)hinder automated ***,manual reconstruction is still widely ***,we evaluate a novel 2-step work flow for automated rSA *** the first step,a 3D U-Net segments MrI images into root and soil in *** the second step,an automated tracing algorithm reconstructs the root systems from the segmented *** evaluated the merits of both steps for an MrI dataset of 8 lupine root systems,by comparing the automated reconstructions to manual reconstructions of unaltered and segmented MrI images derived with a novel virtual reality *** found that the U-Net segmentation offers profound benefits in manual reconstruction:reconstruction speed was doubled(+97%)for images with low CNr and increased by 27%for images with high *** root lengths were increased by 20%and 3%,***,we propose to use U-Net segmentation as a principal image preprocessing step in manual work *** root length derived by the tracing algorithm was lower than in both manual reconstruction methods,but segmentation allowed automated processing of otherwise not readily usable MrI ***,model-based functional root traits revealed similar hydraulic behavior of automated and manual *** studies will aim to establish a hybrid work flow that utilizes automated reconstructions as scaffolds that can be manually corrected.

Tryptophan-derived, indolic metabolites possess diverse functions in Arabidopsis innate immunity to microbial pathogen infection. Hers, we investigate the functional role and regulatory characteristics of indolic metabolism in Arabidopsis systemic acquired resistance （SAr） triggered by the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae. Indolic metabolism is broadly activated in both P. syringae-inoculated and distant, non-inoculated leaves. At inoculation sites, camalexin, indol-3-ylmethylamine （13A）, and indole-3-carboxylic acid （ICA） are the major accumulating compounds. Camalexin accumulation is positively affected by MYB122, and the cytochrome P450 genes CYP81F1 and CYP81F2. Local 13A production, by contrast, occurs via indole glucosinolate breakdown by PEN2- dependent and independent pathways. Moreover, exogenous application of the defense hormone salicylic acid stimulates 13A generation at the expense of its precursor indol-3-ylmethylglucosinolate （13M）, and the SAr regulator pipecolic acid primes plants for enhanced P. syringae-induced activation of distinct branches of indolic metabolism. In uninfected systemic tissue, the metabolic response is more specific and associated with enhanced levels of the indolics 13A, ICA, and indole-3-carbaldehyde （ICC）. Systemic indole accumulation fully depends on functional CYP79B2/3, PEN2, and MYB34/51/122, and requires functional SAr signaling. Genetic analyses suggest that systemi- cally elevated indoles are dispensable for SAr and associated systemic increases of salicylic acid. However, soil-grown but not hydroponically -cultivated cyp79b2/3 and pen2 plants, both defective in indolic secondary metabolism, exhibit pre-induced immunity, which abrogates their intrinsic ability to induce SAr.

本文在连续进料流化床实验台上采用ZSM-5催化剂对生物质和废弃油脂单独催化热解以及共催化热解进行了实验研究。主要考察了反应温度和质量空速对废弃油脂催化热解以及不同有效氢碳比对生物质和废弃油脂共催化热解的影响。结果表明,在温度为550℃、质量空速为0.35h^(-1)时,总化学品(芳香烃+烯烃+C5化合物)碳产率达到最大值(53.9%)。生物质和废弃油脂共催化热解能够大幅提高烯烃和芳香烃的产率,在较高有效氢碳比下(>0.8),丙烯的选择性高达60%。

Complement-dependent neuroinflammation in spinal cord injury:from pathology to therapeutic implications

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD^(+))and its metabolites function as critical regulators to maintain physiologic processes,enabling the plastic cells to adapt to environmental changes including nutrient perturbation,genotoxic factors,circadian disorder,infection,inflammation and *** effects are mainly achieved by the driving effect of NAD^(+)on metabolic pathways as enzyme cofactors transferring hydrogen in oxidation-reduction ***,multiple NAD^(+)-dependent enzymes are involved in physiology either by post-synthesis chemical modification of DNA,rNA and proteins,or releasing second messenger cyclic ADPribose(cADPr)and NAADP^(+).Prolonged disequilibrium of NAD^(+)metabolism disturbs the physiological functions,resulting in diseases including metabolic diseases,cancer,aging and neurodegeneration *** this review,we summarize recent advances in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of NAD^(+)-regulated physiological responses to stresses,the contribution of NAD^(+)deficiency to various diseases via manipulating cellular communication networks and the potential new avenues for therapeutic intervention.
