Water-spraying is regarded as an effective method to reduce the weight loss of product during vacuum cooling *** study aimed to investigate the effect of vacuum cooling factors on the weight loss of postharvest br.c.oli,and attempted to optimize the treatment conditions by simulated annealing(SA)*** algorithm based on simulated annealing meta-heuristic technique was developed to identify the optimum condition for vacuum cooling treatment of *** demonstrated that the SA algorithm could adjust well with the simulation of the br.c.oli cooling *** best condition was at 200 Pa of pressure,274 g br.c.oli,6% of water volume and 40 min pr.c.ssing *** this condition,a product with only 0.35% of weight loss and 1.48℃ final temperature was *** developed method may help to effectively control the weight loss during vacuum cooling pr.c.ss and reducing the economic loss.

3D printed millireactors for pr.c.ss intensification

The scope of the present research aims at demonstrating the 3D printing use in the manufacturing of micr.c.annels for.c.emical pr.c.ss applications. A comparison among digital model pr.c.ssing applications for 3D print(slicers) and a print layer thickness analysis were performed. The 3D print fidelity was verified in several devices, including the micr.c.annels’ printing with and without micromixer zones. In order to highlight the 3D print potential in chemical Engineering, the biodiesel synthesis was also carried out in a millireactor manufactured by 3D printing. The millireactor operated under laminar flow regime with a total flow rate of 75.25 ml·min^-1(increment of about 130 times over traditional microdevices used for biodiesel production).The printed millireactor provided a maximum yield of Ethyl Esters of 73.51% at 40 ℃, ethanol:oil molar ratio of7 and catalyst concentration of 1.25 wt% and residence time about 10 s. As a result of flow rate increment attained in the millireactor, the number of required units for scaling-up the chemical pr.c.sses is reduced. Using the approach described in the present research, anyone could produce their own millireactor for.c.emical pr.c.ss in a simple way with the aid of a 3D printer.

The present paper studied numer.c.l and experimentally the transesterification reaction between sunflower oil and ethanol with NaO H catalyst in micr.c.annels with circular obstr.c.ions. The micromixer design influence on fluid mixing and oil conversion was investigated for a range of operating conditions: reynolds number(re = 0.1–100),Temperature(25–75 °c), ethanol/oil molar ratio(6-12), and catalyst concentration(0.75 wt%–1.25 wt%), using three micr.c.annel configurations(Length = 35 mm; Width = 1500 μm; Height = 200 μm): T-shape – channel without obstr.c.ions; McO – channel with 3 obstr.c.ions ensemble – equally disposed over longitudinal length;MWO – channel with 7 obstr.c.ions ensemble. The McO micromixer was based on literature work, and the MWO is a totally new micromixer design. Experimental tests were conducted in similar.c.nditions in microreactors using these micromixers(Length = 411 mm) made of polydimethylsiloxane. The McO configuration presented the highest performance(mixing index of 0.80 at re = 100), oil conversion of 81.13% at 75 °c, molar ratio of 9 and catalyst concentration of 1%. Experimental results showed high conversions for McO and MWO configurations(99.99%) at 50 °c, molar ratio of 9 and catalyst concentration of 1%, with a residence time of 12 s.

The rNA-binding pentatr.c.peptide repeat(PPr)family comprises hundreds to thousands of genes in most plants,but only a few dozen in algae,indicating massive gene expansions during land plant *** nature and timing of these expansions has not been well defined due to the sparse sequence data available from early-diverging land plant *** this study,we exploit the comprehensive OneKP datasets of over 1000 transcriptomes from diverse plants and algae toward establishing a clear picture of the evolution of this massive gene family,focusing on the proteins typically associated with rNA editing,which show the most spectacular variation in numbers and domain composition across the plant *** char.c.erize over 2250000 PPr motifs in over 400000 *** lycophytes,polypod ferns,and hornworts,nearly 10%of expressed protein-coding genes encode putative PPr editing factors,whereas they are absent from algae and complex-thalloid *** show that rather than a single expansion,most land plant lineages with high numbers of editing factors have continued to generate novel sequence *** identify sequence variations that imply functional differences between PPr proteins in seed plants versus non-seed plants and variations we propose to be linked to seed-plant-specific editing ***,using the sequence variations across the datasets,we develop a str.c.ural model of the catalytic DYW domain associated with c-to-U editing and identify a clade of unique DYW variants that are strong candidates as U-to-c rNA-editing factors,given their phylogenetic distribution and sequence char.c.eristics.

This article describes a study on a non-thermal plasma device to treat exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine. Several tests using a plasma device to treat exhaust gases are conducted on a Honda GX200- 196 cm3 engine at different rotational speeds. A plasma reactor.c.uld be efficient in degrading nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Monoxide and carbon dioxide treatment is minimal. However, achieving 1%-3% degradation may be interesting to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

Adverse events with bismuth salts for Helicobacter pylori eradication:Systematic review and meta-analysis

AIM： To assess the safety of bismuth used in Helicobacter pylori （H pylorl） eradication therapy regimens. METHODS： We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis. MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched （up to October 2007） to identify randomised controlled tri- als comparing bismuth with placebo or no treatment, or bismuth salts in combination with antibiotics as part of eradication therapy with the same dose and duration of antibiotics alone or, in combination, with acid suppresion. Total numbers of adverse events were r.c.rded. Data were pooled and expressed as relative risks with 95% confidence intervals （cI）.rESULTS： We identified 35 randomised controlled trials containing 4763 patients. There were no serious adverse events occurring with bismuth therapy. There was no statistically significant difference detected in total adverse events with bismuth rrelative risk （rr） = 1.01; 95% cI： 0.87-1.16], specific individual adverse events, with the exception of dark stools （rr = 5.06; 95% cI： 1.59-16.12）, or adverse events leading to withdrawal of therapy （rr = 0.86; 95% cI： 0.54-1.37）. cONcLUSION： Bismuth for the treatment of H py/ori is safe and well-tolerated. The only adverse event occurring significantly more commonly was dark stools.
