Effects of feature selection on lane-change maneuver recognition:an analysis of naturalistic driving data

Purpose–Feature selection is crucial for machine learning to recognize lane-change(LC)maneuver as there exist a large number of feature *** using feature could take up large storage and excessive computation time,while insufficient feature selection would cause poor *** high contributive features to classify LC and lane-keep behavior is effective for maneuver *** paper aims to propose a feature selection method from a statistical view based on an analysis from naturalistic driving ***/methodology/approach–In total,1,375 LC cases are *** comprehensively select features,the authors extract the feature candidates from both time and frequency domains with various LC scenarios segmented by an occupancy schedule *** the effect size(Cohen’s d)and p-value of every feature are computed to assess their contribution for each ***–It has been found that the common lateral features,*** rate,lateral acceleration and time-to-lane crossing,are not strong features for recognition of LC maneuver as empirical ***,cross-validation tests are conducted to evaluate model performance using metrics of receiver operating *** results show that the selected features can achieve better recognition performance than using all the features without ***/value–In this paper,the authors investigate the contributions of each feature from the perspective of statistics based on big naturalistic driving *** aim is to comprehensively figure out different types of features in LC maneuvers and select the most contributive features over various LC scenarios.

High-resolution stalagmite δ13C record of soil processes from southwestern China during the early MIS 3

Knowledge of the evolution of pedogenic processes in the carbonate area is important to understand the dynamics of rock desertification.A precisely-dated stalagmite δ13C record between 61.3 and 50.5 ka BP from southwestern China,potentially related to soil biogenic CO2 production,shifts within a narrow range between -9‰ and -7‰,and exhibits a prominent cycle of 350-470 a,independent of the Asian monsoon *** indicates that a threshold effect might control the amplitude of calcite δ13C variability,likely associated with the vertical soil loss in the carbonate *** periodic δ13C changes reflect that the loss/recovery of soil cover can operate on centennial ***,the rock desertification in southwestern China might at least initiate 60 ka ago and should be of natural origin.

Gate leakage current reduction in IP3 SrAM cells at 45 nm CMOS technology for multimedia applications

We have presented an analysis of the gate leakage current of the IP3 static random access memory （SrAM） cell structure when the cell is in idle mode（performs no data read/write operations） and active mode （performs data read/write operations）,along with the requirements for the overall standby leakage power,active write and read powers.A comparison has been drawn with existing SrAM cell structures,the conventional 6T,PP, P4 and P3 *** the supply voltage,V_（DD） = 0.8 V,a reduction of 98%,99%,92%and 94%is observed in the gate leakage current in comparison with the 6T,PP,P4 and P3 SrAM cells,respectively,while at V_（DD） = 0.7 V,it is 97%,98%,87%and 84%.A significant reduction is also observed in the overall standby leakage power by 56%〉, the active write power by 44%and the active read power by 99%,compared with the conventional 6T SrAM cell at V_（DD）= 0.8 V,with no loss in cell stability and performance with a small area *** simulation environment used for this work is 45 nm deep sub-micron complementary metal oxide semiconductor（CMOS） technology,t_（ox） = 2.4 nm,K_（thn） = 0.22 V,K_（thp） = 0.224 V,V_（DD） = 0.7 V and 0.8 V,at T = 300 K.

The 12th International Symposium of Spermatology continued the excellent tradition of this meeting since its inception in 1969 when the first Symposium was held in Italy under the Chairmanship of Professor Baccio Baccetti. This unique Symposium is held every 4 years and serves as a beacon for sperm cell biologists from all over the world, regardless of which species, animal or plant, they are working on. This willingness to embrace the fundamental biology of this distinctive cell type without species limitations is one of the hallmarks of this Symposium. For sperm biologists - it is our Olympics. The meeting in Newcastle, NSW brought together around 300 biologists from more than 22 different countries covering North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. Given the considerable distances and high cost involved in travelling to the East Coast of NSW, this was an outstanding outcome. The Symposium featured a series of 31 plenary lectures culminating in the prestigious Thaddeus Mann Memorial Lecture, which was delivered with typical grace and brilliance by Professor Masaru Okabe.

Effect of chlorine doping on the structural, morphological, optical and electrical properties of spray deposited CdS thin films

CdS and chlorine doped CdS(CdS:Cl) thin films with different Cl-doping levels(0,2,4,6 and 8 at%) have been deposited on glass substrates by a spray pyrolysis technique using a perfume *** effect of Cl doping on the structural,morphological,optical and electrical properties of the films was *** patterns revealed that all the films exhibit hexagonal crystal structure with a preferential orientation along the(0 0 2) plane irrespective of the Cl doping *** particle size value decreases from 22.03 nm to 18.12 nm with increase in Cl *** band gap is blue-shifted from 2.48 eV to 2.73 eV with increase in Cl doping *** the films have resistivity in the order of 10～4 Ω *** obtained results confirm that chlorine as an anionic dopant material can enhance the physical properties of CdS thin films to a large extent.

Water resource Management in the Intermountain Izeh Plain,Southwest of Iran

Ever growing demand for water for agricultural activities in the Izeh Plain has enhanced the use of groundwater. Due to enormous groundwater abstraction since 1985, the overall static water level has receded by more than 5 meters reflecting that the aquifer is under stress condition. As a result, interest is focused on application of artificial recharge as an option for groundwater management to augment water supply in this area. Therefore, in the present investigations, suitable sites for artificial recharge were selected by an integrated surface and sub-surface assessment of the area. On the basis of the data collected from four target points, it was realized that the selected sites for artificial recharge could not meet water demand of the area. In this study attention was also paid to utilization of the existing Miangran Lake water as an alternative to combat water shortage for irrigation. The study further indicated that the available Miangran Lake water could be used for irrigation of the reclaimed agricultural land and enabling to convert 20o0 hectares of rain-fed land into irrigation. The total cost to utilize lake water is US$ 2,756,729 and it was estimated that the project could recoup the investment within 5 years which is quite reasonable in this water scarcity prone area.

Post-fire regeneration dynamics in whitebark pine(Pinus albicaulis) forests in Wind river and Absaroka Mountains,Wyoming, USA

Whitebark pine （Pinus albicaulis） populations are in decline across the species＇ range due to historic wildfire exclusion, mountain pine beetle （Dendroctonus ponderosae, MPB） outbreaks, and an invasive fungal pathogen causing the disease white pine blister rust （Cronartium ribicola, WPBr）. Despite reliance on stand- replacing fires, information on whitebark pine regeneration occurrence is limited and the trajectory of future forests is largely unknown in some areas of the range. regeneration densities were assessed in burned and adjacent non-burned areas at six high elevation locations in northwest Wyoming where stand-replacing fires occurred 8-32 years before thesurveys. In these locations at the eastern extent of the species range, we assessed what site factors were associ- ated with regeneration success. Whitebark pine regen- eration density was greater and seedlings were older in non-burned compared to burned areas. Within burns, north aspects had more regeneration than south aspects. Potential seed source densities and other species＇ regeneration were positively related to whitebark p^ne regeneration densities in burned areas. South facing slopes or grass covered areas may have either delayed or no regeneration of whitebark pine without the help of artificial planting.

Performance, emission and combustion characteristics of CI engine fuelled with diesel and hydrogen

Hydrogen （H2） is being considered as a primary automotive fuel and as a replacement for conventional fuels. Some of the desirable properties, like high flame velocity, high calorific value motivate us to use hydrogen fuel as a dual fuel mode in diesel engine. In this experiment, hydrogen was inducted in the inlet manifold with intake air. The experiments were conducted on a four stroke, single cylinder, water cooled, direct injection （DI）, diesel engine at a speed of 1500r/min. Hydrogen was stored in a high pressure cylinder and supplied to the inlet manifold through a water-and-air-based flame arrestor. A pressure regulator was used to reduce the cylinder pressure from 140 bar to 2 bar. The hydrogen was inducted with a volume flow rate of 41 pm, 61 pm and 81 pm, respectively by a digital volume flow meter. The engine performance, emission and combustion parameters were analyzed at various flow rates of hydrogen and compared with diesel fuel operation. The brake thermal efficiency （BTE） was increased and brake specific fuel consumption （BSFC） decreased for the hydrogen flow rate of 81 pm as compared to the diesel and lower volume flow rates of hydrogen. The hydrocarbon （HC） and carbon monoxide （CO） were decreased and the oxides of nitrogen （NOx） increased for higher volume flow rates of hydrogen compared to diesel and lower volume flow rates of hydrogen. The heat release rate and cylinder pressure was increased for higher volume flow rates of hydrogen compared to diesel and lower volume flow rates of hydrogen.

Electrochemical response of Nd3+ ions containing lithium borate glasses

The present investigation was to understand the electrical properties of 27.5 Li2O-(72.5–x) B2O3-xNd2O3with x=0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 glasses. We analyzed the impedance data for a wide frequency range to get inside the conduction phenomenon. The conductivity of the glasses decreased due to the decrease in the mobility of mobile Li+ions. This decrease was due to polymerization of glass network caused by the Nd3+ions. Modulus formalism confirmed that the Li+ions overcame the same barrier no matter whether it took part in the conduction process or relaxation process. Scaling of the electrochemical data showed that conduction process in the ion conducting glasses was composition dependent and not the temperature dependent.
