The stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans （L.）（Diptera： Muscidae）, is a blood-feeding, economically important pest of animals and humans worldwide. Improved management strategies are essential and their development would benefit from studies on genetic di- versity of stable flies. Especially if done on a global scale, such research could generate information necessary for the development and application of more efficient control meth- ods. Herein we report on a genetic study of stable flies using amplified fragment length polymorphism, with samples of 10-40 individuals acquired from a total of 25 locations in the Nearctic, Neotropic, Palearctic, Afrotropic and Australasian biogeographical regions. We hypothesized that genetic differentiation would exist across geographical barriers. Although Fsx （0.33） was moderately high, the Gsx （0.05; representing genetic diversity between individuals） was very low; Nm values （representing gene flow） were high （9.36）. The mismatch distribution and tests of neutrality suggested population expansion, with no genetic differentiation between locations. The analysis of molecular variance （AMOVA） results showed the majority of genetic diversity was within groups. The mantel test showed no correlation between geographic and genetic distance; this strongly supports the AMOVA results. These results suggest that stable flies did not show genetic differentiation but are panmictic, with no evidence of isolation by distance or across geographical barriers.

The introduction of oral phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors （PDE51s） in the late 1990s and early 2000s revolutionized the field of sexual medicine and PDE51s are currently first-line monotherapy for erectile dysfunction （ED）. However, a significant proportion of patients with complex ED will be therapeutic non-responders to PDE51 monotherapy. Combination therapy has recently been adopted for more refractory cases of ED, but a critical evaluation of current combination therapies is lacking. A thorough PubMed and Cochrane Library search was conducted focusing on the effectiveness of combination therapies for ED in therapeutic non-responders to PDE51 therapy. Journal articles spanning the time period between January 1990 and December 2010 were reviewed. Criteria included all pertinent review articles, randomized controlled trials, cohort studies and retrospective analyses. references from retrieved articles were also manually scanned for additional relevant publications. Published combination therapies include PDE51 plus vacuum erectile device （VED）, intraurethral medication, intracavernosal injection （ICI）, androgen supplement, a-blocker or miscellaneous combinations. Based on this review, some of these combination treatments appeared to be quite effective in preliminary testing. Caution must be advised, however, as the majority of combination therapy articles in the last decade have numerous limitations including study biases and small subject size. regardless of limitations, present combination therapy research provides a solid foundation for future studies in complex ED management.

Data packet drop can happen in Optical Burst-Switched(OBS)when two data bursts are competing on the same ***,many techniques have been developed to solve this problem but they do not consider the ***,it is necessary to balance the load system in the OBS *** Ant Colony Optimization(ACO)technique can be applied to determine the straight and the safest ***,the ACO technique raises both power utilization as well as the execution *** this study,Cuckoo Search(CS)and ACO methods based approach is proposed to avoid the congestion and load balancing in the OBS *** strategy evaluates the intensity of hotspot data and then launches the congestion rate optimization process that depends on their load *** congestion rate optimization represents the available bandwidth,data distribution rate,queue size,and access rate,and also these factors are optimized through the CS *** fitness utility in the CS technique adjusts the distribution rate in the OBS network,and the proposed ACO technique solves the energy utilization *** simulation results proved that the presented strategy evades both the end-to-end delay as well as the possibility of packet drop.

Micro-phytoplankton density, genera composition, chlorophyllaconcentration, and physico-chemical pa-rameters were investigated at five stations （S1-near the coast; S2 and S4-at the edges of the aquaculture set-up; S3-in the center of the set-up; and S5-nearby patch of corals） in and around a coastal channel-based fish farm. The highest total micro-phytoplankton density （TPD）, including diatoms, dinoflagellates and cyanobacteria, was recorded at S3 （（6.28±2.00）×10^6 cells/L） followed by S4 （（5.87±2.81）×10^5 cells/L）, S1 （（4.92×10^5±8.70×10^4） cells/L）, S5 （（3.54×10^5±5.33×10^4） cells/L） and S2 （（2.60±1.14）×10^5cells/L）. Chlorophyll a and nutrient concentrations were highest at S3 and were positively correlated with TPD. Among the 35 genera documented in this study,Chaetoceros spp. was the dominant diatom whilePeridinium spp. was the most dominant dinoflagellate. Very low densities of toxic bloom-forming dinoflagellates were encountered during this study. These results suggest that occurrence of non-bloom densities of micro-phytoplankton, possibly due to the natural flushing of the existing lagoonal channel at the aquaculture site, yielded in little environmental impact and can represent an appropriate sustainable approach for future aquaculture de-velopment.

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(n-3 PUFA) are linked to a variety of health benefits against human disorders and disease. However, the typical western diet is generally low in n-3 PUFA and high in n-6 PUFA, suggesting that the recommended intake of these essential fatty acids is seldom ***, dietary enrichment of animal meat and eggs with n-3 PUFA could help increase consumption of these fatty acids. Fish oils and microalgae(MA) are rich sources of long chain n-3 PUFA, specifically eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA). Feeding these marine products has been shown to increase DHA content of tissues and yolk, however, this may also lead to an increased requirement for anti-oxidants to prevent oxidative deterioration and associated negative sensory attributes. Nonetheless, increased DHA has been linked to promising results in animal growth, fertility,immunity and bone strength in both pigs and poultry. These findings suggest that feeding DHA-rich ingredients to mono-gastric can enrich human diets as well as providing additional benefits to the animal.

AIM: To examine the role of p38 during acute experimental cerulein pancreatitis. METHODS: rats were treated with cerulein with or without a specific JNK inhibitor (CEP1347) and/or a specific p38 inhibitor (SB203580) and pancreatic stress kinase activity was determined. Parameters to assess pancreatitis included trypsin, amylase, lipase, pancreatic weight and histology. rESULTS: JNK inhibition with CEP1347 ameliorated pancreatitis, reducing pancreatic edema. In contrast, p38 inhibition with SB203580 aggravated pancreatitis with higher trypsin levels and, with induction of acinar necrosis not normally found after cerulein hyperstimulation. Simultaneous treatment with both CEP1347 and SB203580 mutually abolished the effects of either compound on cerulein pancreatitis. CONCLUSION: Stress kinases modulate pancreatitis differentially. JNK seems to promote pancreatitis development, possibly by supporting inflammatory reactions such as edema formation while its inhibition ameliorates pancreatitis. In contrast, p38 may help reduce organ destruction while inhibition of p38 during induction of cerulein pancreatitis leads to the occurrence of acinar necrosis.
