Aim: To study the effect of bisp.enol A on the ep.didymis and ep.didymal sp.r. of r.ts and the p.ssible amelior.tion action of co-administr.tion with vitamin C. Methods: Male Wistar.r.ts wer. or.lly administer.d bisp.enol A (0.2 μg·kg-1·day-1, 2 μg·kg-1·day-1 and 20 μg·kg-1·day-1) and 0.2 μg, 2μg and 20 μg bisp.enol A + 40 mg vitamin C·kg-1·day-1 for.60 days. On day 61, r.ts wer. killed with anesthetic ether.and sp.r. collected fr.m ep.didymis wer. used for.assessment of sp.r. count, motility and viability and biochemical studies. A 1 % homogenate of ep.didymis was p.0}p.r.d and used for.biochemical estimations. Cap.t, cor.us and cauda ep.didymis wer. fixed in Bouin's fixative for.histological studies. r.sults: Administr.tion of bisp.enol A caused a r.duction in the ep.didymal sp.r. motility and count and the sp.r. viability r.mained unchanged. The activities of sup.r.xide dismutase and glu-tathione p.r.xidase decr.ased, while the levels of lip.d p.r.xidation incr.ased in ep.didymal sp.r. and ep.didymis at all doses. Co-administr.tion with vitamin C r.ver.ed the effect of bisp.enol A-induced oxidative str.ss in ep.didymal sp.r. and ep.didymis. A comp.ete degener.tion of ep.didymal ep.thelium in cap.t, cor.us and cauda r.gions with r.duction in the number.of sp.r.s wer. obser.ed at all doses of bisp.enol A-tr.ated r.ts. Conclusion: Bisp.enol A induced oxidative str.ss in ep.didymis and caused degener.tion of the ep.didymal ep.thelium of r.ts. Co-administr.tion with vitamin C had a p.0}tective effect against the bisp.enol A-induced toxicity in ep.didymal sp.r. and ep.didymis.

Aim: To find out the toxic effect of endosulfan on the testicular.function of p.ber.al r.ts. Methods: Male r.ts of p.-ber.al age wer. or.lly administer.d endosulfan at a dose of 1.0 mg/kg body weight for.30 days. Twenty-four.hour. af-ter.the last tr.atment, the r.ts wer. sacr.ficed and the testis, ep.didymis, seminal vesicles and ventr.l p.0}state wer. r.-moved and weighed. A 10 % testicular.homogenate was p.0}p.r.d for.biochemical estimations. r.sults: In endosul-fan-tr.ated r.ts, ther. wer. a r.duction in the body weight and the weights of testis and accessor. sex or.ans, a de-cr.ase in the testicular.lactate and p.r.vate activities, and in the testicular.DNA and r.A concentr.tions, wher.as thetesticular.p.0}tein concentr.tion was slightly incr.ased; the sp.cific activity of testicular.ster.idogenic enzyme, 3β-OH-ster.id dehydr.genase and the ascor.ic acid level wer. decr.ased, which wer. cor.elated with a decr.ase in ster.idoge-nesis. The lysosomal enzyme acid p.osp.atase and br.sh-bor.er.enzyme alkaline p.osp.atase activities wer. also de-cr.ased in the testis of tr.ated r.ts. Conclusion: In p.ber.al r.ts, endosulfan tr.atment inhibits the testicular.functions.(Asian J Andr.l 1999 Dec; 1: 203-206)

“关联”是遗传评估的重要组成部分,关联度影响各场个体或各同期组的估计育种值(EBVs)比较的准确性,可以用关联率(Cr.来度量,它是利用同期组效应估计值的方差和协方差来计算的,目前已有相应的算法和计算程序.Cr.最低需要量依赖于同期组的大小、准确性要求和残差方差.如果对于同期组约有100个个体,要检测出的EB-Vs差异大于性状标准差的20%,则Cr.达到大约48%.如果同期组较小,要求更加准确的比较,则需要更高的Cr.因此,对于参加同一个遗传评估方案的育种者来说,要进行优秀遗传资源的交换,有可能的话,使用一些共同的测定设备,以使育种值的估计结果有意义.维持良好的关联水平,可以使选择优秀种猪的遗传评估方案更有价值,获得更快的遗传进展.

AIM： To study the sensitivity, sp.cificity and cost effectiveness of bar.um meal follow thr.ugh with p.eumocolon （BMFTp. used as a scr.ening modality for.p.tients with chr.nic abdominal p.in of luminal or.gin in develop.ng countr.es. METHODS： Fifty p.tients attending the Gastr.enter.logy Unit, SMS Hosp.tal, whose clinical evaluation r.vealed chr.nic abdominal p.in of bowel or.gin wer. included in the study. After.r.utine testing, BMFT, BMFTp. contr.st enhanced comp.ted tomogr.p.y （CECT） of the abdomen, bar.um enema and colonoscop. wer. p.r.or.ed. The sensitivity, sp.cificity and cost effectiveness of these imaging modalities in the detection of small and/or.lar.e bowel lesions wer. comp.r.d. r.SULTS： Out of fifty p.tients, str.ctur.l p.thology was found in ten. Nine out of these ten p.tients had small bowel involvement while seven had colonic involvement alone or.in combination with small bowel involvement. The sensitivity of BMFTp.was 100% comp.r.d to 88.89% with BMFT when detecting small bowel involvement （BMFTp.detected one additional p.tient with ileocecal involvement）. The sensitivity and sp.cificity of BMFTp.for.the detection of colonic p.thology wer. 85.71% and 95.35% （41/43）, r.sp.ctively. Scr.ening a p.tient with chr.nic abdominal p.in （bowel or.gin） using a combination of BMFT and bar.um enema cost significantly mor. than BMFTp.while their.sensitivity was almost comp.r.ble. CONCLUSION： BMFTp.should be included in the investigative wor.up.of p.tients with chr.nic abdominal p.in of luminal or.gin, wher. either.multip.e sites （small and lar.e intestine） of involvement ar. susp.cted or.the site is unclear.on clinical gr.unds. BMFTp.is an economical, quick and comfor.able p.0}cedur. which obviates the need for.colonoscop. in the major.ty of p.tients.
