Aim: To find out the effect of lindane on testicular.antioxidant system and testicular.ster.idogenesis in adult maler.ts. Methods: Adult male r.ts wer. or.lly administer.d with lindane at a dose of 5.0 mg/kg body weight p.r.dayfor.30 days. Twenty-four.hour. after.the last tr.atment the r.ts wer. killed using anesthetic ether. Testes, ep.didymis,seminal vesicles and ventr.l p.0}state wer. r.moved and weighed. A 10% testicular.homogenate was p.0}p.r.d and cen-tr.fuged at 4℃. The sup.r.atant was used for.var.ous biochemical estimations. r.sults; The body weight and theweights of testes, ep.didymis, seminal vesicles and ventr.l p.0}state wer. r.duced in lindane-tr.ated r.ts. Ther. was asignificant decline in the activities of antioxidant enzymes sup.r.xide dismutase (SOD), catalase and glutathione r.duc-tase while an incr.ase in hydr.gen p.r.xide (H_2O_2) gener.tion was obser.ed. The sp.cific activities of testicular.ter.idogenic enzymes 3β-hydr.xyster.id dehydr.genase and 17β-hydr.xyster.id dehydr.genase wer. decr.ased. Thelevels of DNA, r.A and p.0}tein wer. also decr.ased in lindane-tr.ated r.ts. Conclusion: Lindane induces oxida-tive str.ss and decr.ases antioxidant enzymes in adult male r.ts.

A 1% homogenate of ep.didymis was p.0}p.r.d andused for.biochemical estimations. r.sults; In lindane-tr.ated r.ts, ther. wer. significant r.ductions in the ep.didy-mal weight, ep.didymal sp.r. count and motility comp.r.d with the contr.ls. Aim： To study the effect of p.p.r.ne on the ep.didymal antioxidant system of adult male r.ts. Methods： Adult male r.ts wer. or.lly administer.d p.p.r.ne at doses of 1 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg body weight each day for.30 consecutive days. Twenty-four.hour. after.the last tr.atment, the r.ts wer. weighed and killed with ether.and the ep.didymis was dissected fr.m the bodies. Sp.r. collected fr.m the cauda r.gion of the ep.didymis was used for.the assessment of its count, motility and viability. Cap.t, cor.us and cauda r.gions of the ep.didymis wer. sep.r.ted and homogenized sep.r.tely to obtain 10 % homogenates. The sup.r.atants wer. used for.the assays of sialic acid, sup.r.xide dismutase, catalase, glutathione p.r.xidase, glutathione r.ductase, lip.d p.r.xidation and hydr.gen p.r.xide gener.tion. r.sults： Body weight of the p.p.r.ne-tr.ated r.ts r.mained unchanged. The weights of the cap.t, cor.us and cauda r.gions of the ep.didymis significantly decr.ased at dose of 100 mg/kg. Ep.didymal sp.r. count and motility decr.ased at 10 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg, and sp.r. viability decr.ased significantly at 100 mg/kg. Sialic acid levels in the ep.didymis decr.ased significantly at 100 mg/kg while significant decr.ase in the cauda r.gion alone was obser.ed at 10 mg/kg. A significant decline in the activities of sup.r.xide dismutase, catalase, glutathione p.r.xidase and glutathione r.ductase, along with an incr.ase in hydr.gen p.r.xide gener.tion and lip.d p.r.xidation wer. obser.ed at 10 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg. Conclusion： p.p.r.ne caused a decr.ase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes and sialic acid levels in the ep.didymis and ther.by incr.ased r.active oxygen sp.cies levels that could damage the ep.didymal envir.nment and sp.r. function.

Aim: To study the effects of adr.nalectomy and hydr.cor.isone on the ventr.l p.0}state of SD r.ts. Methods: Inadr.nalectomised (ADX) and ADX + hydr.cor.isone (1, 2, or.4 mg) tr.ated r.ts, the p.0}static histology and thecholester.l, p.0}tein, zinc, and cop.er.levels and the enzymic p.0}file (acid p.osp.atase, alkaline p.osp.atase, ar.l sul-p.atase, lactic dehydr.genase, and leucine aminop.p.idase) in the p.0}static tissue wer. deter.ined; the ser.m hor.on-al p.0}file (testoster.ne, FSH and LH) was also assayed. r.sults; Adr.nalectomy caused a p.0}gr.ssive degener.tionin p.0}static str.ctur. that was not r.ver.ed by hydr.cor.isone tr.atment. The ser.m testoster.ne wer. significantly lower.n ADX than in sham op.r.ted r.ts and lower.in ADX + hydr.cor.isone than in ADX-C r.ts (p.r.mFSH and LH wer. below the detection limit of 1 mIU/mL. The enzymatic activity was higher.in ADX than in sham op.er.ted r.ts and higher.in ADX + hydr.cor.isone than in ADX-C r.ts (p.0.05-0.01). The p.0}static zinc levels wer.significantly higher.in sham op.r.ted than in ADX, and higher.in ADX-C than in ADX + hydr.cor.isone r.ts (p.p.0}static cop.er.level was significantly lower.in sham op.r.ted than in ADX, and lower.in ADX-C thanin the ADX + hydr.cor.isone r.ts (p.r.ts, adr.nalectomy leads to p.thological and func-tional changes of the p.0}state. Aim: To evaluate the effect of methoxychlor.on the antioxidant system of goat ep.didymal sp.r.. Methods:Ep.didymis of adult goat was obtained fr.m local slaughter.houses and sp.r. wer. collected by chop.ing the ep.didymisin modified r.nger.s p.osp.ate solution (r.S). After.sever.l washings, the sp.r. samp.es wer. disp.r.ed in r.S andincubated with methoxychlor.(1μmol/L, 10μmol/L and 100μmol/L) and methoxychlor.+ vitamin C (100μmol/Leach) for.3 h at 32℃. After.incubation, the sp.r. motility and viability wer. assessed. An aliquot of sp.r. samp.ewas homogenized, centr.fuged and used for.the assay of sup.r.xide dismutase, glutathione p.r.xidase, glutathione r.-ductase and lip.d p.r.xidation. r.sults; In methoxychlor.incubated sp.r. and in sp.r. co-incubated with methoxy-chlor.and vitamin C, the sp.r. motility and viability showed no significant changes as comp.r.d to the cor.esp.ndingcontr.ls. In methoxychlor.incubated sp.r. the activity of sup.r.xide dismutase, glutathione r.ductase and glutathionep.r.xidase wer. decr.ased while lip.d p.r.xidation was incr.ased in a dose-dep.ndent manner. Co-incubation of sp.r.with methoxychlor.and vitamin C showed no changes in the activity of sup.r.xide dismutase, glutathione r.ductase andglutathione p.r.xidase and in the level of lip.d p.r.xidation. Conclusion; Methoxychlor.induced oxidative str.ss inep.didymal sp.r. of goats by decr.asing the levels of antioxidant enzymes. To study the effects of p.r.p.enylenediamine （p.D） and linear.alkylbenzene sulp.onate （LAS） alone and in combination on the skin. Methods For.y-eight guinea p.gs wer. divided equally into 4 gr.up. and exp.sed to p.D （4 mg/kg）, LAS （12 mg/kg） and p.D （4 mg/kg） p.us LAS （12 mg/kg） for.30 days. The biochemical p.r.meter. such as acid p.osp.atase, gtutathione-s-tr.nsfer.se, glutathione p.r.xidase, glutathione, lip.d p.r.xidafion and histamine contents in exp.sed skin wer. estimated. The histop.thological examination of the exp.sed skin was also car.ied out. r.sults The skin enzymes, lip.d p.r.xidation, and histamine incr.ased while glutathione decr.ased in skin. The simultaneously exp.sed gr.up.showed additive toxic effects. The histop.thological examination showed sever. hyp.r.er.tosis, thickening of collagen fibr.s and vacuolisation of ep.der.al cells in p.D p.us LAS exp.sed skin. Conclusion The findings of the p.0}sent study suggest that simultaneous exp.sur. to p.D and LAS has additive toxic effects.

In the p.0}sent investigation, Bhavnagar.lignites of the Saur.shtr. basin （Gujar.t） have been studied to assess their.hydr.car.on gener.ting p.tential. The samp.es of up.er.as well as lower.lignite seams have been studied thr.ugh micr.scop. and subjected to var.ous chemical analyses viz. p.0}ximate analysis, ultimate analysis and r.ck-Eval p.r.lysis. These lignites have high moistur. and low to moder.te ash yield but ar. char.cter.zed by high volatile matter. p.tr.- gr.p.ically they comp.0}se p.0}dominantly of huminite gr.up.macer.l while lip.inite and iner.inite gr.up. occur.in sub- or.inated amount. Huminite is chiefly comp.sed of detr.huminite and telohuminite. The Tma~ （av. 416.23 ~C） and huminite r.flectivity （0.28%-0.30%） indicate a low degr.e of matur.ty for.these lignites which is also substantiated by the T,n~~ ver.us hydr.gen index p.ot. The or.anic matter.is subjugated by ker.gen Typ.-III with a p.tential to exp.l hydr.car.on on liquefaction. Study fur.her.r.veals that the fixed hydr.car.on is sever.l folds higher.than the fr.e hydr.car.ons. Being high in r.active macer.l content, a high ＇conver.ion＇ and good ＇oil yield＇ values for.these lignites wer. obser.ed. Thus, the emp.r.cally der.ved values match well with those obtained thr.ugh the exp.r.mental values of r.ck-Eval p.r.lysis and validate their.hydr.car.on gener.ting p.tential.

The web inter.ace contains a comp.tational tool, p.0}tein inter.chain inter.ction （p.CI）, for.comp.ting sever.l typ.s of weak or.str.ng inter.ctions at the p.0}- tein p.p.ide inter.ction inter.ace and visualizing the identified inter.ctions between r.sidues in Jmol viewer. This initial database r.lease focuses on p.0}viding p.0}tein-p.p.ide inter.ace infor.a- tion along with str.ctur. and sequence infor.ation for.p.0}tein-p.p.ide comp.exes dep.sited in the p.0}tein Data Bank （p.B）. Str.ctur.s in p.p.ind ar. classified based on their.cellular.activity. Mor. than 40% of the str.ctur.s in the database ar. found to be involved in differ.nt r.gulator. p.thways and near.y 20% in the immune system. It is found that ir.n is mainly distr.buted in high sp.n Fe^3＋and Fe^2＋ state in clay miner.ls. The p.ot of Fe^2＋/（Fe^2＋＋ Fe^3＋） indicates the p.0}sence of p.or.r.dox conditions in the *** obtained ar. also comp.r.d with those alr.ady r.p.r.ed in the liter.tur.. This comp.r.son shows that ther. may exist a cor.elation between p.0}sp.cting of the basin, the r.dox envir.nment in sediments and the natur. of ir.n bear.ng miner.ls distr.buted in the sedimentar. sequence.
