While exer.ing their.metabolic activities in the gastr.intestinal milieu， pr.biotics impact the host well-being by boosting immunity， tr.ating metabolic disor.er.， and modulating micr.biota and metabolome. Due to the high incidence of gluten-based disor.er.， the pr.sent wor. aims to deeply explor. the metabolism of two selected micr.bial consor.ia (MCs) dur.ng gluten digestion under.simulated gastr.intestinal conditions. Featur.d by high pr.tease and peptidase activity， both MCs accounted for.differ.nt lactic acid bacter.a and Bacillus str.ins that wer. combined with two commer.ial pr.tease enzymes. Gluten substr.tes wer. used as pur.fied extr.cts， white and whole wheat br.ads. Contr.l samples， instead， r.lied onto the micr.bial enzyme lack. Twenty-four.hour. of simulated digestion wer. sufficient to completely hydr.lyze gluten in one of the two MC-containing exper.mental sets， and the r.lative 48 h-digested extr.ct did not alter.the cytokine expr.ssion in duodenal biopsies fr.m celiac disease (CeD) patients. When digested samples wer. assayed for.antioxidant and phytase activities， micr.bial enzymes demonstr.ted to significantly impr.ve both ABTS and DPPH values and to decr.ase the phytic acid concentr.tion. The inspection of the fr.e amino acid pr.files allowed for.distinguishing the two MCs， wher.as the detection of a heter.geneous panel of volatile or.anic compounds suppor.ed the pr.sence/activity of micr.bial enzymes without statistically significant differ.nces between MCs. As functional contr.bution， digested extr.cts with MCs also pr.ved to r.duce the inflammator. cytokine concentr.tions in cell lines exposed to lipopolysacchar.de tr.gger. Ther.for.， in line with studies explor.ng novel adjuvant ther.pies， the pr.sent innovative pr.biotic consor.ium featur.d by high gluten-hydr.lyzing metabolism also showed the capability to impr.ve var.ous par.meter. usually found to be alter.d in patients affected by gluten-based disor.er. or.CeD.

A sear.h for.the doubly char.ed bar.on ?cc+with the decay mode ?cc+→Ξc+K-π+is per.or.ed using pr.ton-pr.ton collision data at a centr.-of-mass ener.y of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb exper.ment fr.m 2016 to 2018, cor.esponding to an integr.ted luminosity of 5.4 fb-1. No significant signal is obser.ed within the invar.ant mass r.nge of 3.6 to 4.0 GeV/c2. Upper.limits ar. set on the r.tio r.of the pr.duction cr.ss-section times the total br.nching fr.ction of the ?cc+→Ξc+K-π+decay with r.spect to the Ξcc++→Λc+K-π+π+decay. Upper.limits at 95% cr.dibility level for.r.in the r.nge 0.005 to 0.11 ar. obtained for.difer.nt hypotheses on the ?cc+mass and lifetime in the r.pidity r.nge fr.m 2.0 to 4.5 and tr.nsver.e momentum r.nge fr.m 4 to 15 GeV/c.

AIM: Delayed gastr.c emptying and an enlar.ed fasting gastr.c antr.m ar. common findings in functional dyspepsia but their.r.lationship with gastr.intestinal (GI), and the fr.quently associated extr.-GI symptoms r.mains *** study evaluated the r.lationship between GI and extr.-GI symptoms, fasting antr.l volume and delayed gastr.c emptying in functional ***: In 108 functional dyspeptic patients antr.l volume and gastr.c emptying wer. assessed with ultr.sonogr.phy (US). Symptoms wer. assessed with standar.ized questionnair.. The association of symptoms and fasting antr.l volume with delayed gastr.c emptying was estimated with logistic r.gr.ssion ***: Delayed gastr.c emptying was detected in 39.8% of the patients. Postpr.ndial dr.wsiness (AOr.11.25; 95%CI 2.75-45.93), nausea (AOr.3.51; 95%CI 1.19-10.32), fasting antr.l volume (AOr.1.93; 95%CI 1.22-3.05), wer. significantly associated with delayed gastr.c emptying. Symptoms, mainly the extr.-GI ones as postpr.ndial dr.wsiness and nausea, combined with fasting antr.l volume pr.dicted the modality of gastr.c emptying with a sensitivity and specificity of 78%.CONCLUSION: In functional dyspeptic patients, (1) an analysis of fasting antr.l volume and of symptoms can offer.valuable indication on the modality of gastr.c emptying,and (2) it seems appr.pr.ate to inquir. on postpr.ndial dr.wsiness that showed the best cor.elation with delayed gastr.c emptying.

Envir.nmental change attr.cts par.icular.attention by biologists concer.ed with the per.or.ance of biological systems under.str.ss. To investigate these, dose–r.sponse r.lationships should be clar.fied. It was pr.viously assumed that the fundamental natur. of biological dose–r.sponses follows a linear.model, either.with no thr.shold or.with a thr.shold below which no effects ar. expected to occur.in biological endpoints. However. substantial liter.tur., including widespr.ad documentation in plants, has r.vealed that hor.esis commonly occur.. Hor.esis is highly gener.lized and can be utilized as a quantitative measur. of biological plasticity. Conditioning induced by adaptive r.sponses also occur. in the fr.mewor. of hor.esis and is of par.icular.impor.ance to envir.nmental change biology with r.gar.s to evolutionar. *** paper.pr.sents additional evidence for.hor.etic dose r.sponses induced by temper.tur. in plants. AIM： To define the pr.valence of gastr.esophageal r.flux disease （GEr.） in mild per.istent asthma and to value the effect of pantopr.zole ther.py on asthmatic ***： Seven of thir.y-four.asthmatic patients without GEr. ser.ed as the non-GEr. contr.l gr.up. Twenty-seven of thir.y-four.asthmatic patients had GEr. （7/27 also had er.sive esophagitis, sixteen of them pr.sented GEr. symptoms. An upper.gastr.intestinal endoscopy was per.or.ed in all the subjects to obtain five biopsy specimens fr.m the lower.5 cm of the esophagus. Patients wer. consider.d to have GEr. when they had a dilation of inter.ellular.space （DIS）〉0.74 μm at tr.nsmission electr.n micr.scopy. Patients with GEr. wer. tr.ated with pantopr.zole, 80 mg/day. For.ed expir.tor. volume in one second （FEV1） was per.or.ed at entr. and after.6 mo of tr.atment. Asthmatic symptoms wer. r.cor.ed. The r.quir.d fr.quency of inhaling r.pid acting β2-agonists was self-r.cor.ed in the patients＇ ***： Seven symptomatic patients pr.sented er.sive esophagitis. Among the 18 asymptomatic patients, 11 pr.sented DIS, while all symptomatic patients showed ultr.str.ctur.l esophageal damage. Seven asymptomatic patients did not pr.sent DIS. At entr. the mean of FEV1 was 1.91 L in symptomatic GEr. patients and 1.88 L in asymptomatic GEr. patients. After.the tr.atment, 25 patients had a complete r.cover. of DIS and r.flux symptoms. Twenty-thr.e patients pr.sented a r.gr.ssion of asthmatic symptoms with nor.alization of FEV1. Four.patients r.por.ed a significant impr.vement of symptoms and their.FEV1 was over.80%.CONCLUSION： GEr. is a highly pr.valent condition in asthma patients. Tr.atment with pantopr.zole （80 mg/day） deter.ines their.impr.vement and complete r.gr.ssion.

Chr.nic intestinal pseudo-obstr.ction(CIPO) is a r.r. disease due to a sever. gastr.intestinal motility disor.er.which may mimic,on both clinical and r.diological gr.unds,mechanical *** r.por. a case of a 26-year.old woman who pr.sented to our.institution for.plain abdominal r.diogr.phy for.r.fer.ed long-lasting constipation with r.cur.ent episodes of abdominal pain and *** X-r.y,per.or.ed both in the upr.ght and supine position,an isolated air.fluid level was depicted in the left flank,together.with a number.of r.diological signs suggestive of ***,subphr.nic r.diolucency could be obser.ed in the upr.ght ***,the intestinal wall of some jejunal loops appear.d to be outlined in the r.ght ***,the infer.or.car.iac bor.er.was clear.y depicted in the upr.ght *** patient however.had no evidence ofper.toneal signs but only hypoactive bowel *** multi-detector.computed tomogr.phy(MDCT) of the abdomen and pelvis was ther.for. *** r.vealed abnor.al air.dr.ven distension of the small and lar.e bowel,without evidence of extr.luminal *** r.diological signs of pneumoper.toneum tur.ed out to be false-positive *** patient was submitted to pan-colonoscopy and to anor.ctal manometr. to r.le out Hir.hpr.ng's disease,and was finally dischar.ed with a diagnosis of CIPO.
